This is always been my family's first choice in Chinese food. It's local and it's not the worst. It's often over salted, but it's still good. Food isn't aesthetically pleasing, but it's edible. Well, that's the last straw. I wanted to give 8 Dragons another try because people have been saying that their food has gotten better. Let me tell you of today's experience; I got porkless, pork fried rice. It was rice with a little soy sauce, maybe one or two pieces of onion, and totally flavorless. I also got crabless, crab rangoon, completely tasteless. The chicken teriyaki had an off-flavor that I really didn't like. It was like cinnamon, and not even remotely teriyaki flavor. The boneless ribs were dried out like jerky, and maybe I'm wrong, but I sort of expect that Vegetable Lo-mein will have some vegetables in it. It was noodles, soy sauce and one or two pieces of onion. I also asked for extra soy sauce and hot mustard, and got NONE at all. So I'm done, truly done, this time. A small take out place. Busy brown paper bags adorn the shelf awaiting massive orders nightly. This is the most popular eatery in my opinion in town. Best value is lunch menu. Prices keep rising on their dishes. Seems each time I go in or check online at the menu it states "price change". I can't quite figure out what is costing so much. They run out of a quite out dated building with no sit down service. The bells and whistles are not at this joint. The food! Yes they serve a decent mix usually. Now over the years it's been amazing, so-so, good and meh. Depends on the chef when you go I think. Since I had 8 dragon at its "amazing". I'd say 1995. Now it's so-so or good. Solid three stars. I loved the food here and was loyal to this place for over 20 years. I can't complain on the food too much. Hit or miss. Honestly had seen better years ages ago. I was told she has to see if the driver will come here due to a problem w my neighbor when she finally said he would come here I said my order. I asked to get veggie lo mein instead of rice and I was willing to pay extra. I was told I couldn't do that. I even stayed ill pay for the lo mein. I just didn't want the rice. This place is lucky enough to get one star. Horrible service for starters,and the guy at the counter told me i had to wait 20 minutes before they would cook my food because the cooks were eating. The rice was reheated and greasy. They also had a pile of pork sitting out in the open uncovered in what seemed like a 120 degree atmosphere. Stay away. read more

If this is the best in town, I will drive to another town. The pork fried rice had extremely little pork in it, very bland, and was worse than average. The chicken wings tasted rubbery, as if they were sitting around all day (or two) waiting to be reheated. This is a run down take out place, and the appearance of the building matches the quality of food that you will find here. Don't get me wrong, the food is edible, but it is a 2:00 a.m. after last call, nothing else open kind of place would go to to clog up my arteries. I ordered $25 worth of chinese food, they gave me about an ounce of duck sauce. Had I known that they gave me so little for a good amount of food, I would have asked for extra. But then they hit for for another dollar on top of your order. Pathetic. If you are dying for take out Chinese food, live in Athol, where there is only one other place in town (that I have not tried), and don't feel like driving to Orange, the food is edible, but it would be a last choice. This is the ONLY Chinese restaurant that delivers in the Orange MA area. Tonight my wife called for a delivery at 7:45pm. She was told it would be an hour. It's now 9:33pm. No food yet. WTF? This will probably be last time we order from them. If and when the food does finally get here it will more than likely be cold, as they only have one delivery driver. Im regretting not taking pictures of our food. Our meals vaguely resembled the dish you would order from somewhere else. I just received a delivery from 8 Dragons. The food was severely overcooked and there was sand in some of the shrimp. I called to let them know and they don't care. They charged me full price plus a delivery fee and a processing fee in addition to the price of the food and it was just god-awful. Too bad. I highly recommend against this place. read more

Well, it must have changed. This was my first time going. Needed to pick up an order for my mother-in-law who was in rehab. So I stopped by to walk into a very uncomfortable situation between who I assume was a manager and a customer who received an incorrect order of Lo Mein and called ahead for $9.00 refund. They refused to give him a refund because the owner was not there and couldn't authorize a refund without speaking to the owner who is not there but 2 days a week and today was not one of those days. 100% customer satisfaction was not this lady's priority. Customers coming and going out of this place everyone had to witness such poor customer service. I was so uncomfortable I was about to give this gentleman $9.00 just to make the situation go away. I was leaving and he was calling the police. What a shame. To make matters even worse I ordered shrimp and pea pods and when I went to serve it to my mother-in-law I found a crap load if pea pods and 3, yes 3 shrimp.
