The first time I went to Asia Gourmet was when I first moved here five years ago. I felt that the…read morefood was not nearly as good as other restaurants that I've had in the past. I had read reviews before going so at that point I had not tried the chicken but I had gotten beef fried rice and beef and broccoli I found it to be significantly overcooked. The broccoli was mush and the rice was also significantly overcooked. The food lacked flour and the service was subpar at best. I have friends that love this restaurant, so I did try it again and had the same experience. My mother had gone here with one of her friends and said it was really great and wanted to go again so we went for lunch. The service was terrible. The waitress only came to our table wants to take the order and then to drop the food off. I had to go find someone to pay the bill. And I could not even eat my food this time had tried chicken. I got the L10 lunch special. I tried a few pieces and it tasted so undercooked that I ended up just leaving the rest of my food. I also got violently sick within two hours of getting home. I don't like to leave bad reviews but I also think it's important after giving a place numerous tries to share my experience. And I feel that not only is the food either under or overcooked but the service leaves me not wanting to return. The two thing I will give Asia gourmet a star for is their ambience and drinks. It is a beautiful restaurant I just wish the food and service matched.

The restaurant itself is very visually appealing. Clean and very nice bar. However, expected it to be very loud because of the tile floors. A lot of echo! For appetizers, we had sushi rolls which were average at best. Definitely something missing on the presentation. Also scallion pancakes watch it were average at best. This certainly could be improved on. The main course, however, was extremely hot coming out, which was appreciated. Also, the plates that came out were warm, which is important when it's February in New England. This was a big thumbs up for me. Definitely will go back and revisit some of the selections in the future. They do have an extensive menu of Asian food as well as sushi/sashimi.

Looking for food in VT at 8:30pm on a Friday night in April shouldn't be difficult. But alas,…read moretonight it was very difficult. Saw this little gem on Yelp and decided to give it a try. It was 9pm and we pretty much had the place to ourselves. The staff were courteous and attentive and our waitress was very sweet. We didn't have to wait too long for our food and it was delicious. The sesame chicken was beautifully plated, complete with an edible orchid. The kung pao chicken and pepper steak came as you would expect so my husband and I teased the waitress about why we didn't get special plates with edible flowers. She was cute. The food was delicious and the portions just the right size. My husband asked for his king pao extra spicy and it definitely was not- but it's ok cause then we didn't mind sharing with him. I had the pepper steak and it was tender and flavorful. Everything was really good. If we lived nearby, we'd make it our go-to Panasian spot!

Hot and Sour soup had just the right amount of spicy. The staff were happy and helpful and the restaurant was clean and cozy. Five stars! Definitely be back for more sushi and I don't even live in Vermont.

General Gaus Chicken; Best I have ever had ! I frequent…read morethis place about once every few weeks for a quick lunch and have not been dissapointed with the food . Honestly I can't comment on much of the menu because I always order the same thing because it's so good, General Gau's chicken lunch special. It comes with a generous serving of pork fried rice and your choice of side. I get the fried shrimp side . The chicken is cooked perfectly, not all dried out as I find at other places and comes with lots of sauce. The place is really a take out restaurant with tables, so don't be expecting any fancy service. You order at the counter and they will bring food to your table , but it will be in a styrofoam container. You get your own plastic utensils at the counter. Oh yeah, and they serve free tea at the counter, that's pretty good too. I have never waited longer than 5 min for my meal. I don't think the girl at the counter sees many tips. I usually leave her a dollar or two and she looks stunned. Prices are very reasonable. Anyway I think the place is worth a try, and give the girl at the counter at least a modest tip, in this economy I like to recommend generosity with your servers.

My egg rolls shouldn't taste like cinnamon. Nor should my egg foo young. The fried rice needs to be more brown. Not yellow, not white. The new owners are adorable & very sweet, but they really need to put out better tasting food. That overuse of cinnamon is just disgusting. And the new Asian restaurant that opened up is ridiculously expensive, so we get jerked every which way in this town.
