The staff at this location seems very unmotivated, and unaware that their job in any way involves serving customers. I'll only go back when my wife is craving bagels in an especially bad way. Just a couple examples from my experience with this unsmiling, slow moving, lackadazical bunch... Last time I was there, after getting a bag of bagels and a couple tubs of cream cheese, I squeezed passed the eight or ten folks waiting on their breakfast sandwich orders and arrived at an unmanned cash register. The ENTIRE staff -- a half-dozen crew members -- were standing with their backs to the customers in line, tending the ovens and wrapping bagels. Meantime, I stood waiting at least a couple minutes to pay for my bagels. I called out for someone to take my money, but was ignored. The time before that, I stopped by the men's room; there were no hand towels -- making it difficult to wash one's hands. Minutes later, I saw a crew member leave the same restroom. Best real, authentic bagels in Northern Virginia. Selections are wide enough for every taste. Staff was friendly and even suggested we get our sale bagels before they were gone. I love the Einstein Brothers Bagels company. I first encountered one in Colorado. I love their food, the prices, and their specials that come often (especially if you're a fan on Facebook!). Their coffee is darn good too!!! Most of the employees at this Einsteins are friendly & kind.. Not like the one in Herndon where most of the employees are grumpy & rude. The only thing I don't like about this store is the lighting and lack of "privacy". The one in Herndon is a little darker, quieter, and a little less distracting so my Hubby & I are able to read & study. This Reston one's seating area is so out in the open, I feel like the employees or other customers are watching me eat my food the whole time (no I'm not paranoid either lol)... Good atmosphere, love the bottomless coffee idea (sure beats Starbucks on that aspect!). And honestly, I am looking forward to some of their pastries as well @ Einsteins. like their white chocolate strawberry muffin. I've also tried their chocolate covered strawberries latte. I really like Einstein's bagels and I would frequent more often, it's just unfortunate that every time I order a bagel with cream cheese on the side, not toasted or sliced, I have to watch the lady preparing it carefully b/c my order has been messed up quite a few times before. I try to catch her before she finishes so that the order is not messed up, but sometimes it's too late. I know they want to move quickly, but if moving quickly means you mess up my order and I gave to wait even longer to have it fixed, I rather you just slow down and get it right the first time... read more

Almost every time I go here they screw up my order or don't cook the food all the way. Today my salmon lox still had the paper that separates the slices attached. I have used Einstein Brothers for corporate catering four times now, and have had a fantastic experience each time. The team is pleasant, helpful and attentive to detail. All orders were delivered accurately and on time, and the food was great. Einstein Brothers is so much more reasonable for a corporate event than standard caterers. What a disaster. There were 5 folks working when I visited. 1 person was taking orders (with a line out the door, not kidding) and 4 others only moderately busy filling the orders. None of the staff seemed the least bit concerned that the line was out the door, nor were they in any sort of hurry to remediated the situation. Let me just start by saying that my husband frequent the Einstein Bros location in Fairfax and absolutely LOVE it. We always get either of the smoked salmon options and they are always delicious and the service is speedy even when the place is packed. Today were in the Reston area and decided to have lunch at that location. We went inside and took our place in an extremely long line. As we approached the counter we noticed that they were completely out of several different kinds of bagels. Actually, they were out of the important varieties like plain, everything, onion, etc. None the less my husband and I decided we could make do with Asiago. When we approached the counter, we were informed that they were now out of Asiago bagels. I ran through different options that would suffice instead; plain, wheat, etc. With a sigh the employee at the register asked me to go back to the bagel counter and pick a different option to have with my Nova Lox. Fine. I chose the six cheese bagel as my options (and patience) were dwindling. My husband decided to order the broccoli cheese soup and a six cheese bagel with butter. Finally we sit down. We are watching the employees behind the counter that are preparing our meal. I would say half of them were in no kind of uniform. A few of them were wearing regular hoodies and even noticed an employee working behind the counter wearing sweat pants. I was starting to really doubt my decision to eat at this place and was getting skeptical that our order would even come out right. As we were waiting for our food, we noticed several people leaving the restaurant before they even ordered. Probably because this bagel shop was out of bagels! So, it took us 30 minutes from the time we walked in the door to the time we received our food. Finally, they called our name, I was so happy to have my delicious Nova Lox! We took one look at our meals and made a bee line for the door. My husband's broccoli cheddar soup looked completely inedible, it looked like barf...literally. My Nova Lox sandwich had cream cheese, the smallest amount of salmon, and two onion rings, completely missing the tomatoes that I know the sandwich was supposed to come with. We asked for our money back and went elsewhere to eat lunch. What a waste of 30 minutes. From now on my husband and I will always go to the Fairfax location and stay far away from this one. The food here is typical Einstein Bros and is consistent with the franchise, but the customer service in this place is the absolute WORST I have ever experienced. 9:30 on a Saturday and the place is EMPTY of seated diners but there is a line of 20+ people out the front door and down the sidewalk despite 7 employees behind the counter... 6 of whom are jockeying aimlessly to AVOID helping the next customer in line. Whoever is in charge of hiring at this location clearly has no clue what they are doing. I have lived across the street from this location since 2011 and the employees are and have always been stupid, rude, or a lovely combination of both. My order is seldom correct. I just spent 10 min waiting for four employees to figure out how to make my very basic and simple large iced coffee. I try to avoid this place like the plague, but my kid is a fan of the food, so I suck it up here and there for their sake! read more

I love the food here. However, every time I've come this place is a mess. There's never anything stocked out front - this includes the bagels, chips, napkins, iced tea, etc. They have everything in the back but for some reason just don't get to stocking it until someone asks. They're really nice though when you do ask, which is great, but it's best to have everything out beforehand methinks. read more

Been there a few times, bagels and cream cheese aren't bad, but this last time i ordered the egg, mushroom and spinach sandwich. Tasted stale, and I threw it away after a few bites. I recommend only getting bagels, cream cheese, and coffee. Their caramel machiatto is pretty good. read more

Being from New York has spoiled my bagel taste buds. Einstein bagels are chewy and flavorful; however, they lack the density and texture of a true water-boiled bagel. They also tend to be conservative with the cream cheese. read more

Great experience this morning. Went in with my sons looking for chocolate chip bagels. They were out but offered to make more but it would take approximately 30 minutes. We accepted the offer and ran over to Home Depot for a few items. When we returned, our bagels were warm, fresh, ready and waiting for us. Darryl the manager on duty was so personable, helpful and friendly. It's so nice to go to a chain that doesn't treat you like one. We were well taken care of and will be back as much as possible.
