This used to be a go-to place on weekends... now it's on the must skip. Stopped in for a Sunday morning breakfast run for the family. One would think that a place that sells bagels, would actually have bagels available.... NOT!!! Had to wait 15 minutes for them to finish making bagels so I could get a bucket to take home. To top it off, they were almost out of cream cheese and had to give me a package from behind the counter. After waiting for the bagels, I tried to fill my soda cup with ice and soda... guess what... no ice!! Each employee I spoke with just rolled their eyes and aid they would get to it.. they didn't. (Just walked out and forgot about the soda.) The fam had also requested a bagel w/ Nova Lox so I ordered one... yet more disappointment when I got home and opened the package. Only 2 pieces of Nova on the sandwich (their usual has been 2 or 3). This place used to be a go-to and I'd see many friends and neighbors there. Unfortunately looks like it is going down hill and preparing to go out business. Save your money, time and frustration and drive a bit further to Bagel Cafe in Herndon or KSB Bagel at Fox Mill (heck... even grocer store bagels are better at this point). First, ignore any reviews prior to 2019. The store was completely revamped with new managers and a total renovation. This is a great low cost breakfast and lunch option, especially for their bagels which are very, very good. The menu is bagel-centric of course but fairly varied with bagel and cream cheese choices, sandwiches, and other assorted pastries. On most every visit now, the staff is efficient and friendly. It can be crazy during the morning, but most days the line moves relatively quickly. As with any other fast-breakfast restaurant, the occasional person ordering 6 dozen bagels with special requests can hold up the line. The store itself is completely renovated and very comfortable now. The only criticism would be the focus on group seating, which makes it tough to sit if you want a private area to eat! As a long time Einstein Bros. customer in Reston, I can say the restaurant is run much better than any time since the first year or two it opened. read more

This place is not consistent enough for me to give it a good rating. During the winter months, well, maybe it's only Thanksgiving, they have a pumpkin bagel and pumpkin cream cheese. This is a wonderful indulgence for me, so every now and then I love this little treat. But that's just it...LITTLE. Where is the rest of the bagel??? Einstein's bagels are like oreo cookies when you compare them to Essa Bagel in NYC or Goldstein's out in L.A. This is a girl that can eat, so bring on the rest of the bagel! They make decent enough stuff, although if my order is to go, I prefer to stop at Greenberry's up the street for coffee, or even Dunkin Donuts for coffee (yo, DD's coffee is FREAKIN GOOD) rather than order from here. Here's where the 3 stars come in: the employees. Quite frankly, they suck. The only two guys I like are the ones who always ring up the orders. One guy is a manager, Caucasian, and wears glasses. He is awesome, and when it really gets busy in there, he runs from the register to help "assemble" orders. He's a team player, fer sure. The other guy I like does nothing but ring up orders, but he's so friendly about it. The place itself is meh. I wish they could clean up a little quicker, but I know sometimes they get really busy in there, so I'll give a little benefit of doubt here. Beware: it does get very noisy and sometimes it gets really hot! Parking isn't too bad, although with holiday shopping going on at Best Buy (don't these shoppers work during the day???), it made it difficult to find a space this morning. read more

I respectfully do not agree with Bob B. from I M Florida. I was served rather quickly by a friendly cheerful employee and worker. There was no super long line at all. The Blueberry Bagel that That I had for lunch with my soda was 100% delicious and scrumptious. Their BLT Bagel is also very good as well as their tasy coffee. They have an large selection of tasty bagels and toppings on dispaly that You could choose from. The decor of the front dining room was tastefully well decorated and organized. I did not dectect any bad odors at all. The cleaniness of this respectable and honest eating establishment is highly acceptable to Me. Einstein bagels makes good bagels but this location and the Reston location can't get anything right. My order has never been correct here- staff is annoyed when you try to get your order corrected and often takes two to three tries to get the correct order. When we went to pay at the register the manager was rude as well when we told him there was no more decaf coffee. We got our bagels and they look like they just threw them together. This morning 6 friends met at Einsteins to celebrate 2 birthdays in our group. I arrived early and placed my order for what promised to be a very tasty avocado toast using the green chili flatbread. When I got my order I what I saw looked like avocado paint on one side of the bread and a coating about 1/8 of an inch on the other and the avocado had not been warmed after it had been put on the bread. When a server delivered the remaining orders to our table; I asked for another coat of avocado paint on the half that I had not eaten and in no time the lady returned my bread with some very cold chunks of avocado. Avocado toast is the in-thing right now and many places really do a fine job a preparing their creations but Einsteins Bagle are not yet part of that group. read more

Every Sunday it's the same. Try to get a bagel at 10:30 and they are sold out. It's such a regular occurrence that the lack of planning/preparation hurts the business and makes for grumpy customers. Einstein, don't wait until you're completely sold out to make another batch! Telling us that it will be another 40 minutes is unacceptable! I was really hoping the average reviews weren't right (two stars avg at the time of typing this) but that's about right for this place. They were slow taking my order & they still got my order wrong (like not even close). I would've asked them to redo it but I was running late, I was really hungry, & there were already two people waiting for them to fix orders that they had gotten wrong. Even worse, they didn't seem to be in any sort of a rush to fix these messed up orders or remotely apologetic. The boyfriend and I came to get some much needed recovery breakfast after a late night out. Our every need was met at Einstein bagels. Delicious fresh baked bagels encased some much needed greasy bacon and eggs to result in a doctor prescribed hangover curing breakfast. although it was a busy Saturday morning, the line moved fast and I waited only a few minutes to receive my food. I guess they have a new menu that is trying to be Panera. If so, please drop the word "bagel" from your name. They used to offer bagel sandwiches of all types for lunch. Now you seem to be limited to various pre-selected combinations that are mostly made on rolls or paninis. There is maybe one bagel sandwich listed on the menu and it had a strange combo of toppings. To be fair, the customer service was slightly better than what a lot of reviews have posted. I was able to request an actual bagel on my sandwich and they seemed to get the order right and bring it out relatively quickly. How do you run out of bagels? Every time I go there, they are out of at least several varieties - including plain. If you know that you sell, on average, x amount of bagels per day, why can't you plan to MAKE x amount of bagels per day? They will let you wait - yeah, like I have time to wait. I stopped by this morning and waited in the order line for 10 minutes, during this time the line did not move an inch. I gave up, I can't imagine what the wait would've been once I actually placed my order. It appeared to be understaffed and what little staff there was, seemed miserable, snappy with the customers and slow beyond belief. No acknowledgement and the staff tells you that you place your order at the other end of the counter before going back to ignoring you. The natural line from the door to the counter places you at the wrong area and no sign is readily apparent that you walk around the store to the counter. There are other options in the area. There are two cooks, one who typical messes up an order and one person at the register. I arrived at 9:18 this morning and ordered two things and it wasn't ready until 9:37am. This is a nice little bagel shop, and so conveniently located. The staff was very kind and helpful. They all had great attitudes, and it seems like a fun environment to work in. I had the tuscan chicken pesto sandwich. The flavors were good, but not outstanding. I did enjoy the sandwich overall, and the coffee is pretty good. My son was having a picky moment, and the staff went out of their way to help him choose something that he really liked, the cinnamon twists, which he loved. Overview: Bagel chain that also offers sandwiches, coffee, and desserts This is the franchise location that delivers the every-so-often breakfast orders I put in for my office. For the most part, they do a good job: the person tends to arrive within the time frame and the order is *usually* correct. I say usually because I don't go through all 13 bagels to compare with what we should have received, but I *do* notice if the bagel I specifically ordered for myself is not there, which has happened a couple of times. I haven't felt it was worth it to say something, but perhaps I should. Also, the bagels are *usually* sliced, which is convenient, but sometimes they're not, which is less-than-convenient. While we tend to get the shmears in the standard plastic corporate tub that you see in the physical stores, sometimes they come in heavy paper tubs with "Plain shmear" handwritten on the side. I haven't quite figured out why or how this happens, but it still tastes fine, so I have no complaints, but it still does seem a bit odd. I've gone to the physical location a few times in the afternoon, if I happen to be in the area. Around 2:30pm-3pm, there aren't many people there. And usually, I'm just popping in for a cookie, so I haven't had to deal with placing a more complex order. Bottom line: It's not spectacular, but I haven't had major problems with them, so I'm sure I'll continue to order from them. read more

Do not go here. We went and ordered two breakfast bagels sandwiches and two iced coffees - one with almond milk, one hazelnut. The iced coffee was almond MILK on ice with a splash of coffee and the hazelnut was not drinkable. The worst part - the bagel sandwich was so cold I could literally use it as an ice pack. Visited about a week ago to pick up a dozen bagels and cream cheese on a Saturday morning. They had everything I wanted and the staff members were friendly and efficient. Einstein bagels are far better than Panera, so my wife insists I get them here. Their cream cheese is also superior. I read the reviews about long wait times for sandwiches, etc. and my experience in the past has been that these can take a while--but I really only come here for the bagels to go. This place was surprisingly decent. Though the bagels can be pricey, they are also really filling and tasty. I ordered the nova lox bagel (it came with smoked salmon, onions, cream cheese, tomatoes, and capers) and truly enjoyed it. Best real, authentic bagels in Northern Virginia. Selections are wide enough for every taste. Staff was friendly and even suggested we get our sale bagels before they were gone.
