Eienstein Bagels in Reston -1825 Fountain Drive- had terrible service. At the beginning of this school year we had placed an order with this store for a catering, that was supposed to be delivered by 7am. The delivery guy had not shown up. I called the store and they kept saying he should be there shortly. By 7:25am, they told me he was in the parking lot and he wasn't. I had to keep calling the store and finally they stopped answering the phone because I guess they have caller id. Well, I used one of the Administrator's cell phone to call and they answered and they kept telling me he was at our school. Yesterday was the third time I have tried Einstein at Reston. First time they were out of French Roast coffee, second time they were out of onion bagels, third time they were again out of French roast coffee and seem ed irritated at me for mentioning it. The bagels I ordered had cream cheese spread on them as you would spread butter. It's not even real cream cheese but "Whipped cream cheese" half air. They apparently don't know what a shmear is. I ordered a bagel with Lox tomato onion and cream cheese. It was so crappy I ate the lox and threw the rest away. They didn't have the coffee so I threw the cup away. Cost me $8.50. I walked down the street to LaMadeline and had a nice breakfast. They will never see me at Einstein again, but I doubt that they care. read more

The customer service was good. The guy that took my order this morning was VERY cheery and chatty. But the caramel macchiato I had was watery and the bagel for the bacon, egg and cheddar didn't exactly taste like a bagel. It was way too soft to be a true bagel and not toasted. This is only the second time I have ever been to Einstein Bagel Brothers, once at the one off Elden Street and the Reston one this morning. I wasn't impressed either times. I had some coupons so my order was only three dollars. It was worth that, but not the $8+ I would have spent otherwise. "Einstein has left the building." I only go to this place because it is convenient; the Wonder Bread consistency of their bagels sets them light years apart from what a real New York bagel. Went in this morning, picked up two bagels to go--and waited in line for someone to ring us up. After a few minutes, one of the two people making coffee (!) went back behind the register. The guy at the counter (wears red hat and chubby) taking orders talks so much to certain customers. He would rather have all the customers in line wait as he finishes talking. I have never seen someone who takes order stall the line!!! Horrible service. read more

My wife and I used to occasionally go here. The food was fairly good and reasonable. One day I ordered a bacon egg and cheese bagel. I uncharacteristically opened the bagel and drew out the bacon. It was thin beyond belief I laid it on the print of their materials and had no problem reading right through the bacon. Funny I used to joke about meat shaved that thin. I never thought i would ever encounter it. I showed it to the manager, who was speechless and did nothing that would make me believe that hewould do anything but hope no one would ever actually open a bagel again. Fantastic bagel shop - excellent customer service. Staff is always smiling and I'm a regular and have gotten to know them. Manager is top-notch - she understands the Restaurant service industry and builds relationships with her customers. Have been sometimes daily and definitely weekly visitor for 2+ years and even when things don't go perfectly (weekend AM long lines) - they make up for it with friendly and timely service. Worst customer service I have ever experienced. Employees were talking and yelling at each other behind the counter and not paying attention to any of the customers. Our server didn't greet us or smile. They forgot our fruit cups and to top it all off, there was a hair in our food! I went here this morning. At this place there is one person taking the orders two or three people preparing the sandwiches and one or two cashiers. There was a decent line with like five people behind me and two people in front of me. The guy taking the order took this lady's order then proceeded to have a 2/3 minute personal conversation with her while we were all waiting. All in all it took me nearly ten minutes to get a bagel with cream cheese and a coffee. Virginia is not known bagels and this place is ok, but pales in comparison to any NYC area bagel place. Also if you're in a hurry I suggest you eat elsewhere. Building rapports with customers is good, but when you have a decent sized line and others are waiting it's not. read more

I love Einstein Bros.' bagels and coffee. And since this is the only outlet near me (after the Elden Street Einstein's closed a few years ago) I keep coming back. But the service has deteriorated markedly in the last three months or so. The accuracy rate on orders is running about 50 percent lately in my experience. And the staffers who make the mistakes don't appear to be especially worried about them. It's unfortunate because about half the people who work here are great - friendly, courteous and prompt. I am a fan of Einstein Bagels, but I will never go back to this location. I went to this location for the first time on a Sunday morning, and was shocked at how dirty the restaurant was. The employee taking my order dropped the bag on the floor, picked it up and proceeded to put my bagels in it. I don't usually write bad reviews, but my experience at this place was horrendous and one of the worst I've ever had. As a fan of the bagels and convenience of Einstein, my fiancé and I stopped here for a quick bite to eat. First off, upon walking up to the store, there was a homeless man (with an Einstein hat) begging at the door. We were in a rush, so we just ordered a bagel and coffee. While we were waiting, a woman had been causing a scene and yelling how she needed the owner or manager to sign a piece of paper. I'm guessing it was a former disgruntled employee, but she kept coming back to yell in front of everyone she needed the woman to sign the paper so she could feed her kids. Already uncomfortable and in a hurry, we just wanted our food. They gave us our bagels and we were just standing there for a long time to have someone make the coffee. I had to ask 3 different employees if anyone was going to make the mocha we ordered. There were about 3-4 employees behind the counter just fooling around and laughing. I had to ask again and told them we had been waiting, only to have them tell someone else to make it. No one even apologized. It was the worst service I had ever seen, but there were so many employees not doing anything. I will not be coming back. I only do breakfast catering with Einstein. The delivery is always on time and the food is just ok. The bagels and cream cheese are really good. The egg sandwiches and wraps are not that great. The egg tastes funny and no one in my office really likes them. The only thing that's worth getting here are the bagels and cinnamon poppers. I'd rather go to Dunkin Donuts. read more

I have been going to this Einsteins for over 10 years and this is the worse service they have ever had. It is crowded all the time since it is so slow, it is not clean and overall not a good experience. It needs new management to get back to how it use to be a few years ago. Bagels are good, but service tends to be on the slow side. Plenty of people working behind the counter, but they are not very organized. I have to agree with all of the negative reviews. I work in Reston, and sometimes I crave a bagel sandwich, and Einstein is the only option. But every single time I am frustrated with the totally unenthusiastic and unresponsive staff whether there's one or five people behind the counter and the incredibly slow service. And I've had my order done wrong as well. Hard to believe this place can continue to exist with such poor service. Totally lacking in management and training. Tables don't seem to be cleaned much either. I'm only giving two stars because I like the food. read more

This was the worst Einsteins that I have ever been to. The service was terrible. It took thirty minutes to get our egg sandwiches. The tables were dirty. They were out of coffee and the condiment bar was not stocked. The employees were refusing to give receipts because they were too lazy to change the register tape. I really, really want to like this place but every time I go there, they always screw up my order. I live at the Reston Town Center, and this is really the only decent place to get good bagels. The food is pretty OK ( hence, the 2 stars) but the service leaves a lot to be desired. Recently ordered the nova lox sandwich on toasted everything bagel & a half dozen asiago bagels and they still managed to get this wrong. What's worse is that I was the only one there placing an order as everyone else were just waiting for theirs. I ended up with 5 bagels and a lox sandwich on a bagel that is not toasted. I've had a lot of funny experiences at this place. Many incorrect orders, and avocado sandwich with no avocado, yep no avocado, just lettuce and bread. One time I watched as the owner chewed all his employees out cause they were cutting corners, being lazy. This last time however sealed the deal that I will not return. An employee messed up my order, I told him it wasn't a big deal and that I did not want a different sandwich, I would eat this one. Some Steven Segal wannabe (manager I think) decided he would make a new one any ways. I ordered a turkey B.A.T, he brought a sausage and egg to me. I said "I don't think that's ours, we already have our food." He picked up the sandwich in an aggressive manor, walked straight to the trash can and threw it away, staring at me the whole time, literally making eye contact. I was very confused. A.). Why did you make a new one? B.) how did you mess it up twice? C.) screw you for throwing away fresh hot food. There's plenty of homeless people who would've eaten it, your employees could've eaten! Tried calling in a catering order following the online instructions but since we are paying cash we were instructed to call the store directly. The person on the catering line was nice and professional. Once we called the store we were passed to two different people before the rudest individual I have ever encountered came on the line!! We tried to explain calmly that we had been instructed by the catering office to call the store. She interrupted mid sentence trying to rattle off the phone number. We tried to explain again that we'd already called them and they asked to call the store. She snapped back that she and her manager had no idea what to do with our order. She then proceeded to not only yell at employees while trying to talk to us (becoming increasingly aggressive), she CONDESCENDINGLY asked if we had internet access and repeated 5 times that she couldn't do anything and she had customers and shouldn't have to keep repeating herself. She then Asked if we wanted to have her explain the process one more time. I couldn't take it anymore and raised my voice to interrupt her to remind her "there is no reason to be rude!" She then attempted to hang up. The reason I say "attempted" is because she tried answering the next call while I was on the line! "Thank you for calling Einstein Bagels...." Thank you Einstein at Reston for a headache and the worst customer service I've recently received. And thank you for saving me a trip into your store ever again. read more

On Mother's Day, by 11am, they were out of bagels and were not making any more. This is not the first time something like this has happened.

Disgusting, terrible service. showed up at 11:30 sunday today to get a bagel our usual spot had a long line out the door. took forever, people were getting the wrong orders and most their bagels options were out. customer service was terrible when we received our food, the bag was thrust in my wife's face. we left intending to eat our bagels in the car to get onto our errands quicker. first the sandwiches looked like they were thrown into the bag. the shmere was barely visible on the bagel, and the cream cheese that was put on her bagel had what might be spinach in it? we don't know because she ordered nothing with spinach. my bagel was cold as was the egg and fake bacon. would not recommend. only reason we didn't return it is because we didn't want to sit through another line for terrible customer service. not the first time i've been disappointed by an einstein bagel shop but definitely the last time. read more

These guys have great bagels, but if you want to get one: good luck. The lines are too long and the staff is always confused. Maybe you will get what you ordered, but maybe not. After consistently coming here for four years and always being let down, I finally get my bagels from Harris Teeter. We've eaten at Einstein Bros Bagels for about a decade at different places we lived in the country, and love their bagels. We now live in NOVA, and this is the only location close to us, so we keep going back, but it just isn't up to par compared to what we've experienced in the past. Almost every time we've ordered a bagel & cream cheese they get the order wrong. We specifically request the bagel to NOT be toasted and what do we get but toasted. They often run out of bagels (such as pumpkin), and recently we were dining there and 4 of the 6 coffee dispensers were EMPTY - leaving you a Dark Roast or a Decaf option for coffee. After pointing out the coffee dispenser was empty on one visit, coffee was brewed, but instead of the Autumn Roast - it was either their regular or Dark Roast coffee, because it was NOT their Autumn Roast as the sign said. Often the half & half carafe is empty, and one time no coffee stirs. We've gone during busy times, and during slow times, but even during slow times they still don't seem to have a handle on things. We just can't figure it out, we've never had such bad experience at any Einstein Bros Bagel we've ever frequented - but this place is out of control/mismanaged. We go back because we love their bagels, but are questioning that decision. We'd be thrilled if one opened closer to Sterling, so we'd never have to return to this location. read more
