This was my first time at this Reston location. The waiter was very friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was pleasant. I love the fact that the parking is by the building unlike most businesses in the area where you have to park in a garage, pay, and walk. That feature alone will bring me back. I chose the Lobster Mac and Cheese. It was a very generous portion. It had good flavor but could have had more sauce as it was just a little on the dry side. The lobster was just right in terms of doneness. The bread they serve is made in house and is very unique, served with an oil based cheesy dipping sauce.

Thursday evening dinner after work. Ample seating and parking. Fun decor. Friendly service. Food was great! I really enjoyed the bread and Garlic dipping sauce and the spinach and artichoke dip. We enjoyed dinner and a drink. I didn't snag pictures of everything but what we had was good. Crème brûlée was nothing fancy but my daughter really enjoyed the peanut butter cake. Will visit again when in the area!

We returned on St. Patrick's Day. The Guinness was cold and the corn beef and cabbage was plentiful. We found that NYA Joes has the special Irish menu the whole month of March.

Came to Not Your Average Joe's for dinner with a group of friends. The food was very nice and the service was good. I had the Jambalaya which was very tasty. They do have gluten free menu options if required.

We came in as a large group. It was great that they have the capacity to accommodate a large party over 30 people. One of the servers displayed his discontent when we asked him for water. It made us feel uncomfortable to ask for anything else which doesn't seem to be the right kind of experience when you are customer dinning in. I ordered the Mustard crusted chicken BLT on a toasted chibatta with fries and slaw. My order was mediocre which was quite disappointing given the name of the restaurant and that chicken sandwiches have been recently hyped across most fast food and regular establishments. If it is on the menu, it should be worthy of competing with the standard. They also forgot the slaw and when I reminded them, it was brought out in a tiny sauce container where the ketchup goes in. It was sad. I also saw what the others ordered and it was underwhelming. One woman said her steak was overdone and seemed tough to chew. Since we were a large party, an automatic 20% gratuity was charged to the bill. Other than the fact that the establishment can accommodate large parties, there wasn't anything special that would bring us back based on the service and food quality. This review is for a 2.5 rating.

Blacked Shrimp Cocktail from seasonal menu

Hubby and I are using his bday (the 18th) as an excuse to indulge..... trying out the new offerings at Not Your Average Joe's! Overall a thumbs up... Started dinner with a tasty blackened shrimp cocktail. Nice Cajun spicing... amazing guacamole... tasty siracha cocktail sauce! Our main we selected the filet medallions.... Perfectly cooked and so tender I actually used my butter knife to cut them. I'm not a fan of broccolini but hubby likes... I know I could have swapped out if I wanted. The red wine pepper sauce and rosemary creminis worked well. Only failure IMO is that while they were on tasty MASHED potatoes.... I really wanted SMASHED as advertised. Asked manager about this and he was gonna check... initial comment is they only do mashed... it's a different product and I'm hoping just a oversight as today is day 1 of the new seasonal specials. Maybe someone from Not Your Average Joe's will comment?

I decided to go in and have lunch here after a couple years of hiatus. I made an advanced reservation for lunch and our table was reserved when we came the next day. Our waiter was very friendly and not overly pushy and thus the service was pretty good and the food arrived on time. I ordered the teriyaki salmon bowl, which was average. The fish was cooked well but the rice was not very tasty, oily, and undercooked. My guest ordered a salad bowl and was not super thrilled with the taste and only ate half of the serving. It was not a super great experience, but maybe I'll come back again and try one more time.

Oktoberfest Pork Schnitzel entree. Comes with red cabbage, potato pancake and two breaded pork schnitzel filets.

I come here often enough when I'm looking a solid restaurant, good location and free/easy parking, reliable service, nice cocktail options, with a regular and seasonal menu that accommodates most of my friends' varied dietary needs (GF, vegetarian, pescatarian, etc.). It does not disappoint. We had a painkiller and a watermelon cucumber margarita as our cocktail options. Both are very good. My margarita had a little too much ice and not enough drink IMO, and when I ask for a salted rim can you salt the whole thing rather than one square inch of it? They give you delicious focaccia bread over a cheese/red pepper flaked dipping oil that's to die for. Be careful because it's so easy to fill up on it, it's so addictive! We tried the whipped feta appetizer. Recommend that you get it for the table to split because it's definitely on the large side. Didn't care for the "sesame crisps", but the cucumber slices and pita bread paired well with the whipped feta, and the garbanzo bean topping was tasty. We had two of the newly unveiled Oktoberfest options--pork Schnitzel with red cabbage and potato pancake for me; drunken bratwurst over mashed potatoes for my friend. The schnitzel dish looked lovely, but it honestly lacked any kind of flavor... not the potato pancake, and not the schnitzel breading or meat. The best part about it was the red cabbage in my opinion (I'm a fan.) Service was prompt, and we had no problems getting a table at 5:45 PM on a Thursday. By the time we left at 7 PM, it had started to get busier; so if you have a large party, or you just don't like to wait long for your food, go on the earlier side of the dinner shift.

Cobb Salad with salmon instead of chicken

I live 1/2 mile from this restaurant and have never stopped in until today. I was in the mood for a quick lunch while sitting at a bar and figured that I would be able to accomplish that here so I stopped in to give it a try. I was immediately greeted by the bartender and provided menus and he then swiftly took my drink order and gave me a few minutes to look over the menu. The menu had lots of options but I was in the mood for a lighter lunch a went with the Cobb Salas but asked to sun salmon for the chicken. This wasn't a problem and the salad arrived pretty quickly. It looked absolutely amazing and tasted the same! The salad was chock full of all the ingredients and all were well seasoned and perfectly dressed. My only wish is that they asked me how I would've like my salmon prepared because they cooked it a bit under for my liking and I ate around the pieces that were too rare. All in all it was a great lunch and I'll now be sure to head back in to try dinner!

Was an awesome experience!!!! Went for Mother's Day so it was packed but the servers are SO on top of it! We never went a minute wanting anything because they took such good care of us. The food was amazing! They have a pretty diverse selection on their menu so everyone is sure to find something they like. The restaurant itself has a good vibe whether you're going for a family dinner or a date. The bar seemed very lively.

I stopped in for lunch and I'm glad I did. I got the turkey avocado club and bang bang shrimp. I really enjoyed the sandwich. It was super filled and had thick buttery bread. Service was quick so I was in and out even with a 10 person group

Tomato Basil Soup - was delicious.

From the sauces that were included on the dish to the perfectly cooked and seasoned potatoes... I definitely would recommend this dish to everyone that decides to visit Heirloom. Then the Oysters Rockefeller.... simply put, so much flavor! I then opted to get the Heirloom Burger. All the items that came on the burger added to the taste experience, however, my only wish was that the patty should have been seasoned a tad more. Despite that, my additions of bbq sauce and mayo added to the burger, where the seasoning kind of lacked. Overall, great experience. I will be back!

We've had plenty of bad experiences with Chinese buffet seafood making us feel sick--pretty sure I'm not the only one--but that has never happened here. Yes, there's an 18% gratuity for parties of 5 or more, but it feels fair for the quality and service. It's in a newish shopping center, which, for us, had a bonus-- there is a Harris Teeter there. We needed to pick up some items, so we did before having dinner. We were here for an early dinner. Now that it's getting darker so early, we try to avoid driving after dark, when possible. Thus, we were here around 3 p.m. and were glad to see they were serving dinner at that time. To drink, I chose a mocktail called "What a lychee" which consists of "lychee, pineapple juice, club soda". It was garnished with a lychee. I did enjoy this drink. My husband had a non-alcoholic Stella Artois. Upon arrival, we were greeted and seated immediately. Having looked at the menu before arriving, we each knew what we wanted. I chose to try the "Blackened Pan Seared Yellow Fin Tuna" which (supposedly) consists of: "Topped with jumbo lump crab meat, sundried tomatoes, shiitake mushrooms, creamy lemon sauce served with rice." My husband chose the "Shrimp platter," which (supposedly) consists of: "crispy beer battered shrimp, coleslaw and chipotle sauce served with hand cut French fries." It took a while for our food to come out. As I was eating, it dawned on me that there was no crab meat or sundried tomatoes. Also, the sauce sure was a creamy lemon sauce. It was more like a miso-flavored sauce. Hard to say if the menu got changed, but no new menus were printed up to fix it. Or was it that the young man who cooked the food wasn't familiar with the entrees? Still, despite the discrepancies, I did like this dish, although it would have been even better if they had prepared it correctly. My husband noticed that there was no Chipotle sauce on his dish. Instead, there were two small containers: one with ketchup and another with tartar sauce. He, too, thought that his shrimp was well prepared, although the breading didn't cling to the shrimp. This experience left us with mixed feelings. On the one hand, we appreciated the friendly, attentive service. Yet, on the other hand, we wonder whether it's worth going again, given the possibility of not getting all the ingredients for one's entree. We liked the ambiance, which evoked images of the beach. They have some nice paintings on one wall depicting the seashore, a lighthouse, and beach houses.

On another note, I know it's not peak season for anything, but the fish under the glass counter looked a little gray and sad. I will be back during the summer. :)

After finally getting our bartender Amanda's attention, pulling her away from her friend she was talking to, we asked if she could clean off the bar in front of us because it was pretty dirty. With quite the attitude, she sprayed the water bottle across the bar, squirting water across us as well. Literally had to wipe my forehead with the napkin in my pocket. After a crazy hot day in Reston, Virginia, we settled in to order a white wine in hopes that the service would improve. 10 minutes later, we walked out I'm still not sure to this moment if she noticed yet. We have had nothing but wonderful service for 12 years at every Cooper's Hawk we've ever been to, so this was quite the shock. First time we've ever walked out of a bar without a drink after sitting down. It pains me to post this, but people need to know.

It features a modern, trendy, and lively setting with hanging plants, stylish tiles, contemporary lanterns, and warm wood tones, creating a welcoming environment. It's popular for brunch, ceviches, sanguches, salads, seafood dishes, lomo saltados, and more. The dishes we tried were very good, and we recommend: - Causa Sampler, featuring crocante, tartare, and pollo -- all fresh and delicious. - Ceviche Sampler, with traditional, cremoso, and callejero options. - Tostones Sampler, featuring pulled pork, crab salad, and shrimp on crispy, chewy smashed and fried plantains. - Tallarines a la Huancaína: linguine with cream, Parmesan, and Huancaína sauce, topped with lomo saltado -- a unique Peruvian pasta dish that feels more like noodles than traditional pasta. - Arroz con Mariscos: Peruvian-style seafood rice with squid, shrimp, mussels, and salsa criolla, reminiscent of a Peruvian paella. - Lychee Passion & Chicha Colada: tasty mocktails made with lychee, passion fruit puree, chicha morada, pineapple juice, coconut milk, and lime.

The ceviche was a bit small portion but it was so tasty! We took the last 1cc of it my lamb shank was really good, especially the base of potatoes and the amazing sauce! Fried Fish, Beef Stake, Crispy Cod Fish were great too. Our server was very friendly with a big smile on his face. He recommended also introduced everything to us. I have to mention that, their bathroom has one elevator for people who have issues with climbing stairs. So thoughtful and caring! Oh! Never forget to order one of the best cake: Rice inside Cheese Cake! It was so delicious, and might blow you away! Inside decoration also very nice. Bright and spacey. Definitely will be go go go mood with family and friends again!

They also have a very nice cocktail menu, the guava margarita is really good! Their wings were how we started and the fish sauce is a great flavor to choose. Nice tang to them and they tasted even better when tried with the onions and peppers that were on the plate. Their golden fried rice with grilled chicken was really nice! I enjoyed both the rice chicken, separately. The shaken beef was made with a very nice tenderloin and was also loaded with great flavor and served on a sizzling platter. We all enjoyed the food and service. I would definitely return when in the area again.

Highly suggest the lychee mojito!! every person in our four-person girl group had two of these with deliciously plump fresh lychee on top of fresh mint, limes and just the right amount of rum to make you feel all warm inside! The decor was really nice too! Modern with a touch of fun and eclectic. Fortunately, my friends had already been here before, so I had plenty of good suggestions to consider. I opted for a plate that was heavy in vermicelli noodles, and upon ordering the server who took my order highly suggested that I order the woven vermicelli meal that came with lemon grass beef. I am so happy I listened to him because the dish was overflowing with delicious flavor and before I knew it, my plate was completely empty. Service was very kind, prompts and knew all the right suggestions to offer for a high quality experience. Plenty of delicious options for appetizers from classic favorites like fried spring rolls and rice paper summer rolls to savory entrées like short rib, hot pot Vietnamese noodle soups and fried rices. I can see why this place has quickly become a local favorite and why the ratings are all very positive! Lived up to the hype for sure! Thank you so much for an awesome dinner this evening! I really look forward to returning very soon.
