In the meantime the base had worn down so far my new dentist [I relocate here about the time I lost the crown] said I needed a root canal. I was not happy to hear that but I wanted my tooth fixed. IDS was the suggested office so I had the procedure done. I did some research watching doctor and patient review videos and learned a root canal is not as bad as the age old stories portend so I was more at ease. And since my root was not or never had been infected which as I understand is the reason a root canal may hurt to have done in the first place, the experience was not unpleasant at all. Doctor Silvestrin did my procedure and at the end he asked how it went and I replied "piece of cake". The initial deep shots of course didn't feel great but otherwise everything was fine. The worst part if anything was the clamping of the tooth and dental dam to push down my gum and that is just more a feeling of pressure rather than any pain. Never even needed any follow up pain meds once the Novocaine wore off. I've read some reviews saying the office is competent but cold and impersonal. That was not my experience. It's not like the doctor and staff sat around chewing the fat and having a laugh with me but I found everyone to be warm and engaging. I saw everyone as professional and organized doing their jobs with out haste or waste. I recommend IDS.

This prospect terrified me, as I have had problems with getting numb and staying numb in the past. My situation was compounded by the fact that the first oral surgeon I went tried to intimidate me into getting the procedure done his way in his time, by saying that I would likely see him later "in the emergency room." (Wut??) I left and did not seek treatment for again for a year, and by then it was worse. Long story short, by divine providence I finally found my way to Dr. Driver. He is amazing! I cannot say enough good things about my experience with him. He is calm and he explains everything fully. My mouth was fully numb and the tooth was gone very quickly. The office staff is wonderful, too. In particular, I appreciate Lorie's help interfacing with my insurance company. Everything about the experience was top notch. Thank you very much, Dr. Driver, and everyone at Lagos! Truly. I am so grateful!

I was sore, but never had any pain. Sedation was essential to me. I inhaled some gas, so I was out, even before the IV went in. When I was awakened I was surprised when I was told it was done. I had no recollection, and compared to other times I've had anesthesia, I felt clear headed when I was wheeled out to my friend's car, and heading home. Desert Maxillofacial runs like a 'well oiled' machine. Everyone I met there was friendly, and knew exactly what they were doing. A few days before the procedure I picked up 4 prescriptions. Fortunately, I had no need for pain meds. Communication is excellent. I receive well detailed Post Op instructions. Someone called me the day after the surgery to 'check in,' and to remind me to start the prescription mouth rinse, and do warm salt water rinses. I make a point of doing my research before choosing a doctor. So I am used to excellent care. I believe that Desert Maxillofacial is the best run medical practice I have been to. I would never dream of going anywhere else for implants and dental surgery.

Dear Dr. Cartter, I am writing to express my deep…read morefrustration and disappointment with the dental implant work performed at your clinic, which in my opinion has been both unreasonably expensive and grossly unreliable. In total, I paid approximately $50,000 for a full-lower dental implants under the assumption that I was receiving high-quality, long-lasting treatment backed by professional integrity and care. However, less that three years after the procedure, the implants have failed not once, but twice. This is completely unacceptable for a procedure of this magnitude and cost. Each time the implants have broken, I have been left not only dealing with the physical pain and inconvenience, but also with an emotional and financial burden that should never have been necessary - especially after paying a premium price for what was supposed to be permanent, top-tier dental work. To make matters worse, when I sought accountablity and assistance from your office regarding these failures, you and your staff have refused to stand by your work. I find this deeply unethical and disappointing. Patients who invest their trust - and signifacant financial resources - in your care deserve better. Frankly, I feel taken advantage of and cheated. I am requesting a full explanation of what went wrong with the procedures and materials used. I sincerely hope you will take this opportunity to do the right thing and restore some faith in your practice. Scott A. Sherman

So they said they would need to reschedule my appointment. I asked them if they could wait 10 minutes so that I can call them and get them to do it faster. They said no. Then comes the nurse with the audacity to ask me if I can come in a different day. Having have worked in the dental field myself, I know very well that a medical clearance is not needed unless dental treatment is going to be preformed. They could have done the x rays and exam. By the time they finished. The primary care doctor could have given the clearance. This office lacks critical thinking skills.
