From the person (Angelo) who I spoke with on the phone to set up an appointment for my 95 year old mother to the receptionist (Brendon), to the hygienist (I can't remember her name) to the appointment maker (Jesus), and ending with Doctor Michael, they were all so patient & accommodating with my sweet mother. After relocating I chose Dr. Curiel simply on the basis of he was the highest [customer] rated dentist on my Medi-Care plan. Couldn't be more pleased. Dr. Curiel is not only an excellent dentist, gentle and pain free-literally did not even feel the needle, he is a genuinely warm and kind person. My first visit he immediately made me feel like a friend going above and beyond to be engaging before, during and after the procedure. The staff has been friendly and gracious as well. Although my previous dentist was pretty much the same I've never felt as comfortable in the chair as I have with Dr. Curiel. Sorry that some people had a bad experience but I have found bad Yelp reviews for people, places and services that turned out to be great in my experience which proves to be the case for me with Dr. Curiel. read more

I had to laugh when I read people think this guy is a good dentist I haven't had any teeth for 3 months I'm going to a surgeon on Friday I report them to the Dental Board they've taken on my complaint and scan and medical and Medicare are involved in my case. Three specialists have now told me that I could have never been fit for dentures I don't have enough phone structure he should have known that instead of having me come to endless adjustments on the top one that will only made it worse and never receiving the bottom one although he builds Medicare for a top and bottom denture and I never received the bottom one as I stated and I returned the top one so you're warned anyone foolish enough to go to these people deserve what they get I'm paying the price for it and after all the sudden done and all my punitive damages for the work he did or fail to realize he couldn't do I'm hiring an attorney but feel free to use them read more

Needed to replace a crown, and was given a thorough exam by Dr. Curiel who fixed my last crown. Recommended root canal, new post and new crown and they got me in the very next morning. Dr.Godinez did an exceptional job on the root canal, etc. and Jesus stepped up to the plate with difficult x-rays. A very tight-knit group of people, and all are very friendly. I had never been to this dental firm before & stated when I called that I wanted an appt. for x-rays, a cleaning and an exam. I was only given a date for the x-rays & exam and said that I preferred to come there once and have the cleaning done too. The guy I spoke with stated "that made sense" & gave me a different date in order to get everything done. After I filled out the new patient paperwork, I was brought back for x-rays which took an absolute eternity. I was told that the dentist needed to look at the x-rays to make sure they were ok. The dentist wanted more x-rays which were done & then another long wait for the dentist to make sure they were now ok. I was brought to another area and assumed the cleaning was next - WRONG. A female came into the cubicle, never bothered to introduce herself, and pulled a tablet on an arm super close to my eyes which showed all of my x-rays. She then claimed I had bacteria at the base of a back molar root under a crown where a root canal was done 35-40 years ago. She asked if I saw the gray area on the x-ray (I did NOT) and kept insisting I had major pain it that area (NO PAIN AT ALL), that my floss must be shredding or breaking in that area (NOPE) and that I must never eat salads (I eat salads at least 5 of 7 days a week!!) - I have no clue what the salad comment was about. She then told me there was also bacteria at the base of the root at the only other tooth that had a root canal & crown done also 35-40 years ago. I was then told about other problems as well with other teeth. All of this was very puzzling as my last 2 dentists over the past 10++ years had never mentioned any of these issues!! I did not believe anything I was being told and have never been to any type of doctor who did not think they should introduce themselves to a new patient. The 2 teeth with crowns allegedly need major work - crown removed, then sent to a different doctor for another root canal, back to Sunlife for a temporary crown & eventually, a new permanent crown. Once I was finished listening to a ton of strong arming and arguing with this person that I had no pain in my teeth at all and hadn't had any since I was in my 20's and had 2 impacted wisdom teeth, I was ushered out of the cubicle I had been and sent to talk to Jesus at the front about the cost for all of this work & my insurance. I was given a list of treatments & their costs for 5 different teeth. It came to over $5000, my insurance would cover $1500 leaving me owing over $3500!!! At that point, I realized that I never received the cleaning that was supposed to be done!! I asked Jesus why and told him about my initial phone call stating I wanted all 3 procedures done in one appt. He apologized and claimed that I was never scheduled for a cleaning but that he could give me one for sometime in late July (2+ months later)!! I was in shock when I left this office as I did not believe anything I was just told. It had not been that long since my last appt. with a dentist and there's no way all of this alleged desperately necessary work was missed OR had just manifested. I will now be reaching out to another dentist who will hopefully not be looking to score a ton of fast money!! A day or 2 later, Jesus called claiming he just received a cancellation for a cleaning for a couple of days out & did I want it. I politely declined as no way will I go back there for anything!!! His partner, Dr. Guillemin graduated from the USC Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry. Both top dental schools in the United States. Thus, I had high expectations when I got to the office. The office staff took my insurance information and gathered my billing information. I had a full set of x rays taken with a state of the art machine (newest technology). They measured my gums, cleaned my teeth, advised me on future treatment and ongoing dental care. i went there for 2 crowns and did not want a bridge as a tooth had been gone for 10 years. they know i grind my teeth badly on the side i was getting the crowns. I told them NO ON THE BRIDGE 2-3 times but they argued. then they sent in the financial guy for a HARD SELL. reluctantly i gave in. I had to pay CASH because i was past my insurance limit. The bridge broke in July, 2023 and i have been fighting with them since. Because the bridge broke so deeply under the gum on one tooth, it had to be pulled. I have never written a Yelp review, so that tells you how much I feel the need to share my experience. To start off, the X-rays were extremely painful and uncomfortable, which I had never experienced in my life getting dental x rays. As it says in many reviews, they give you a laundry list of issues that they claim need to get done, one of which is this so called deep cleaning that costs $900. I agreed to have a crown done, and this was the worst. First she (the dentist) numbed the wrong side of my mouth first, with no apology. She was extremely rough and insentive during the procedure. Horrible bed side manor and physically rough. At my follow up appointment I gave her feedback and received no apology. **Both the hygienist and the dental assistant told me confidentially that they totally agree with me and that this dentist is "rough" not a good adjective for a dentist. ** I feel bad for them working in that office. Tragedy struck once again when the little piece of composite filling I had fell out, and the little chip I had on my front tooth was exposed! I randomly found this place on Yelp and gave it a shot. The waiting area has an awesome fish tank, local news, and up-to-date magazines. The actual dentist chairs were clean, cozy, and they were playing soft techno music, which was fun. The two front desk people were super nice, and a pleasure to talk to! The woman doctor who tended me was a bit pushy in getting me to buy services I made clear I wasn't interested in. I went to Sunlife Dental Group for a cleaning. After the cleaning I saw Dr. Curiel for the exam. He gave me a laundry list of items he said I needed to have done (8 crowns, 6 extractions, and 2 partials for a total of $9,500). My next visit was March 12, 2021, when I saw Dr. Sanchez (prepped and did impressions for crowns). I never saw Dr. Curiel again - the dentist I made my appointment with! I went back March 22 and had the crowns put on and extractions done. An upper molar's roots had broken through the sinus cavity on one of the extractions I had done. Dr. Sanchez wrote a prescription for antibiotics and sent me on my way. I returned six weeks later to have impressions made for the partials and was told I couldn't have them done because I still had a hole in my sinus cavity. I was told I needed to go to a specialist to have it taken care of - and was sent on my way once again! The specialist Dr. Sanchez suggested didn't take my insurance and wanted $495 just for the consultation - who knows how much more it would be for the CT scan and bone graft! Oh, yes, Sunlife also wanted another $1,500 for the partials because Jesus said they weren't on my original treatment plan! I decided to file a grievance with my insurance company for several reasons: (1) leaving me "hanging out to dry" with a hole in my sinus and (2) charging me for items that weren't done ($500 per tooth for 3 teeth for bone replace graft - which was not done, nor mentioned to me, nor written on the treatment plan!). In fact, the original treatment plan and the detailed treatment plan presentation weren't even close to the same. They also charged my insurance company $1,295 per crown! My insurance paid $365 per crown and my responsibility was $225 per crown. Sunlife charged me $950 per crown with an additional $30 per crown for buildup! Apparently, Sunlife decided they didn't want to fight with my insurance company, and they paid an oral surgeon to correct the problem they created with my sinus. I had surgery September 1 and had the hole closed. Sunlife called and told me my insurance company wanted to talk to me to let them know if Sunlife was taking care of me. When I called, they told me Sunlife told them they were also going to send me a refund - which they have not done! It is now November 4 and I'm not holding my breath that Sunlife will step up and do what's right! After all, they've not done it so far, so why would they start now!! Bad experience, here. Suggest going elsewhere, folks. The dentist did not know how to give a proper injection to numb my mouth! I have NEVER had trouble with lidocaine, EVER. So, this dentist-I believe she was French-kept having to inject my mouth in order to replace 2 crowns. I knew that she was injecting my gums in the wrong place! So, of course when she would attempt to work on my teeth I would get the agonizing, sharp pain coursing throughout my body. It was a living hell. If you choose to go here, be aware that they will attempt to "sell" you on other "needed" procedures. Deep cleaning, for example. I just came from another dentist, yesterday. They said my gums were in "amazingly" great shape. In contrast, Sunlife refused to clean my teeth because they said that I needed a deep cleaning, therefore they would NOT clean my teeth. Having had 2 horrific experience's with Dentist's since moving to the Coachella Valley 7 years ago, and extreme fear of dental procedure's due to past pain and suffering, I was reluctant to take care of a crown replacement and 2 fillings needed. I will start by saying how much I dislike going to the dentist, I mean who likes going? I have A LOT of anxiety related to dentistry A LOT! Some people are afraid to fly I'm afraid of going to the dentist. That being said.. Dr. Guillemin and staff are absolute angels. So sweet and calming. I had a few old fillings removed and replaced with composite and it was painful my bite was off etc.. Dr. Guillemin fixed everything and reassured me that what I was feeling was going to fade, she was right! 100% now!! I selected one star because there is not a negative number of stars. This organization is very disappointing. I moved from the Midwest and needed a semiannual cleaning. My insurance is with an out-of-state HMO. When i made my appointment over a month before my appointment, I sent pictures of my insurance cards and was told it was good. At my appointment they claimed not to have it. X-rays were taken and a dentist reviewed some different treatments. It seemed like she was trying to sell me an extensive list of expensive procedures I did not want. I politely declined each one. I just want to get my teeth cleaned and not spend over $10,000. I was told they would call my insurer and then I could return for a cleaning. The next day a woman calls and tells me I only have out-of-network 50% coverage. Previous day they indicated that was $65. She tells me dentist recommended a 'deep' cleaning, which is $375, so I am not allowed a 'regular' cleaning. I say there is a misunderstanding. Can I or she talk to the dentist. She responds that is not how they do things. Only thing I can get is the $375 cleaning. This is an accurate, objective account. Be careful with this organization. In addition, the patient forms ask for your social security number several times and for your Driver's license number. Have they ever heard of identity theft? Why would a dental office want a social security number? Or a DL? Name and DOB is all they need. I neglected to mention that I am very fastidious with dental hygiene. I use a sonicare electric toothbrush, brush and floss 2-3 times a day, and use an anti cavity mouthwash every night. I have had continuous dental care from a highly respected dentist for over 30 years. All my tweets needed was a cleaning. The manager's comparison to being a car dealer was right on. It is like the time I had my vehicle serviced by a very competent independent auto service. Oil, brakes, coolant, transmission fluid, etc. When I needed tire service a week later they tried to sell me an oil change and a brake replacement. This dental practice is the same. They try to sell you a bunch of expensive treatments you don't need. When that fails, they try to force you to get he $375 cleaning. Plus, did you notice the manager did not explain requesting the DL # and the SSN because he knows he would lose on that one, too? read more

Made an appointment for teeth cleaning. When I get there they said they need to take X-rays too. Once done the Dentist said I need more X-rays that it didn't look like their was any problems with my teeth but I would have to make another appointment just to get my teeth cleaned which I made an appointment only to get my teeth cleaned. I didn't know it was going to be such a big ordeal to get my teeth cleaned. Never again. What a waste of my time. In all fairness, I didn't see the Dentist who is usually there. "The Dentist" I saw was Complaining about his Student loans, when I had mentioned, how much this crown was going to be. I ended up not getting the crown, just a filling. Horrifying experience, as he also left the mercury in the tooth, he filled. To top it off, The problem I did have in my mouth, he didn't address at all. The bottom line, if you're contracted with an insurance company, and you say they don't pay much, it doesn't give you the right to do underhanded things to the patients that come in. Btw.. I had been going to Sunlife for 4 or more years. At first, the service was fantastic and they did a great job of cleaning my teeth. That all turned sour, around a year ago. New hygenists, not professional and high pressure "upselling". Last time I went, a new hygenist, who turned out to also be a dentist, cleaned my teeth. She continuously harped on me about a lifestyle change. I am 73YO; I don't need some foreigner telling me how to live my life. I just wanted my teeth cleaned; NO LECTURE!! If I could give a minus star, I would. This is the worst Dental Practice I have ever been to. I wouldn't doubt that the reviews on here are planted. They told me that dentists no longer made gold crowns and I would have to purchase the more expensive porcelain ones. Not true. They told me one price then changed it. I told them since it was a back tooth and the side I chewed on I wanted gold again. They then made me a porcelain instead, not once but twice. I went to another dentist who said they do make gold crowns and they are the strongest you can get. Today I had the privilege to visit Sunlife Dental Group. I was under the care of Dr.Atchison and his staff. I was treated nicely and everyone present made sure I felt comfortable. Dentist visits can be very scary,however Dr. Atchison does have a way with his pep talk like " you're doing great!" "you're a trooper" -nothing like positive comments during tooth fillings to calm you down. The work done was great and done with ease and precision. Very bad experience with this dentist. I had a tooth that was extracted and I was planning to have an implant placed. The extraction was in November of 2018. I paid for a CT scan of my mouth and sinuses and Dr. Curiel was going to place a bone graft and the implant. He only placed the bone stating that it needed to heal and then we could do the implant. I then had to go back several times for the next few months for him to check the extraction/graft site. He finally said I was ready for the implant. I made 2 appts to have the implants placed, arranging for time off of work which is not easy. The office called and canceled both times, the day before the appt. I got upset and asked why they kept doing this to me and was told that there was another dental provider that Dr. Curiel needed to have help him because I needed a sinus lift, which I hadn't been told about. We worked it out and arranged an appt time that would work for all, and I took the next day off of work because I wasn't sure how I would feel. I took the valium that I was told to take and my husband took me to the appt. Dr. Curiel informed me upon my arrival that they couldn't do the work that day because the other dentist wanted another CT scan, which Sunlife did pay for and they were assuming the additional cost of the sinus lift as I paid upfront for everything in November. I had the CT scan and met with Dr. Curiel. He told me that he couldn't do the implant because of the way my sinuses sagged and he would have to do a bridge instead. My other option was to go to an oral surgeon. I was really upset due to the length of time this process took, the time I took off of work that ended up being unnecessary. Plus going without a tooth for that length of time. It is noticeable when I smile. I asked for a refund of my money and Angelo was supposed to take care of it. I checked a week later and still no refund until I called and complained about it. They finally refunded me my money. I am mostly upset that this process took 7 months with several visits to the office, only to find out that they couldn't do the work anyway. One good thing I will say about Dr. Curiel is that I never felt any pain when he did other work on my mouth. He is very gentle and makes sure you are comfortable. Jesus is the best employee they have. He is always pleasant, helpful and good at his job! read more

I am so amazed at what they were able to do for me. I had 4 porcelain crowns put in to finally fix my smile. I also had 2 wisdom teeth pulled, a deep cleaning and resin fillings. One fell out but I am getting that fixed. It was painful but I was given proper treatment to help with the pain. I was always suggested to get braces but I never had an issue with my overbite so getting the crowns was the best option for me since veneers would have made my overbite more prominent and my issue was with the discoloration and the gaps. I love my smile now. And within 2 weeks process I was able to have everything completed. I made it to my wedding in kauai with a bright smile. I will say all the assistance were very good but on the last visit when I was getting the filings and the crowns on that assistant was pushing the vacuum into my gums and it hurt so bad. I had to push her hand away a couple times and she kept doing it. I don't know if she was new or what but none of the other assistance did that. Only her. I am now going to try the teeth whitening system they have so that the rest of my teeth can match perfectly with my crowns. Can't wait.
