Our garage door cable failed then jammed last night we I came home. I saw EK Garage services Darien/Willowbrook with a Google search, so I gave them a call at 8:00 am. The receptionist listened to my problem and offered at tech between 9&11. About 10:30 they called explaining the tech was running late, was it still ok to come over. I said thanks for the call and update, sure I'll be waiting. Ron got here not really that long after. He came in and I explained what had happened, knowing I'm probably going to be replacing the door as it's the original. Ron explained my options and quoted me a fair price to get it back working and gave me a discount on replacing the whole door within the year. He replaced several hinges, rollers and the lift cables. Really efficient and skilled tech. After he finished he explained the bill and the discount if we decide to replace the door. Oh it's really hot out today 90 degrees. Totally impressed with his work and solution to our old garage door. He gave us a brochure to review the full replacement options. He took our check and I thanked him again. One star. Do not use this company. Our garage door was not closing flush, and they recommended inserting a metal strut to straighten the panel. We agreed to the $400 repair instead of their $2,000 quote to replace the door. The repair made the problem significantly worse -- the panel is now even more disjointed than before they touched it. We called the next day. They said they would send someone, but the technician ran late claiming a flat tire. When he finally arrived, he admitted the door was worse than before the repair and said it now needed full replacement. The $400 "fix" only created more damage. We requested a refund, and the technician called his manager, who was extremely rude and refused to refund a penny. The only offer was $400 off a $2,000 replacement door -- meaning we would pay $1,600 more to the company that caused the damage. That is not a resolution; that is being asked to spend five times what we already paid to fix their mistake. read more

This is the worst company out there. They're a bunch of crooks who charged $1,600 to replace two springs, two drums, and two cables on a double garage door. I searched for ASAP Huntley on Google and I have no idea why they directed me to them. Unfortunately, I didn't double-check my decision when hiring these crooks. I was convinced I hired ASAP. When the original door of my home built in 1960 broke I wanted to save the door and repair it. The man showed up. Told me it would cost $2,000 to repair it - I should replace it (for $3,000) In a panic with my car stuck in the garage, I gave him a deposit. Fast forward a few weeks - no door. A friend convinced me to call another repair place. They come out and fix the door for $300. Shame on these people for taking advantage of me. He did give me back most of my deposit. read more

Fixed my garage door coil on sides came unraveled for $250. Tried to get me to change rollers for $500 per door! I said no thanks. My husband changed rollers for $5 a piece. Then Month later same door coil came loose again. We called him and he said for an additional fee he will come out. This guy takes advantage of people! Don't use him! Uber is cheaper. read more

My garage door opener decided to flip out at a most inopportune time. After calling the condo association's regular provider who never has time for us (and leaving a vm), I found E.K. on Yelp. It was less than 60 minutes from the time I called him to Ezra arriving at my Hyde Park condo. He was pleasant and professional and accurately diagnosed the issue with my system. The sensors and the wires between them and the opener were messed up. He replaced them lickety split, helped me re-program my wireless keypad and remote, took a credit card payment right there and I was able to go about my day. I would highly recommend E.K. I think it really made a difference that he was already on the south side. Too many contractors act like they are doing you a huge favor even taking calls from this side of town. read more

I would give a zero if I could. There's a reason the reviews are so bad for this company. They came out quickly, but that's the only positive. They replaced the springs and other parts (sorry, can't remember what else). A month later, the operator arm broke. I had two different companies come out today to give an estimate. Both asked how much I paid for the previous work. I asked them first how much they would have charged (I had the receipt). Both were between $600-800. I paid $1400. The worse part? The springs they "replaced" were the cause of the operator arm breaking. So, they CAUSED an issue and I overpaid. Calling to speak to them was a joke. The man obviously took advantage of me because I am a woman. DO NOT go with this company. Please. read more

They are quick to come out but will rip you off. We called them out to give us a quote for our broken garage door opener. Company was not even at my house for 5 minutes quoted me almost three times other companies and charged me $30 to tell me my opener was broke. The quote was $1350 just to replace an opener. read more

Worst service experience ever! I have never, ever experienced this level of disrespect. If you wish to have the owner/operator tell you to suck his d*ck after calling to share your concern about the technician arriving 2 hours late, paying for a garage repair that malfunctions 5 minutes after the technician leaves, and then having the technician attempt to up charge you after he returns, then this is the company for you. Otherwise, stay away from this company and save yourself the headache. Something tells me this company will run into some problems when it comes time to renew their license to operate within Chicago city limits. read more

EK came out for a malfunctioning garage door opener. Martin fixed the issue in 15 minutes by replacing a wire for $200. It stopped working in a few days so I spoke with Ezra again. He assured me the tech would address it, but days later I've received no help. There was no warranty so I feel foolish and cheated. Today a different company fixed the opener and I was given a written warranty on the work should something go wrong. read more

Contacted Angie's List for because of a really sluggish, noisy garage door opener. Ezra somehow dialed me before I could even close the AL site. Within an hour, he had diagnosed the problem, removed a broken spring, and replaced it with a new one. And he gave us a 3 year warranty. Could not beat that. Thanks, Ezra! read more
