The carne asada had me at hello. Seriously, all it took was one bite and my mouth was in food heaven! It was so tender, flavorful and perfectly marinated! Pour on a little salsa and boom! So here's what went down...I was throwing a bday bash at my house and wanted a taco truck/trailer that catered. Spotted El Agave Azul's food trailer in Montrose, so tried them out and it was a done deal! Since their flagship restaurant was in Ridgway, we decided to drive out and grab some lunch so we could personally meet the owners. Again the food was super good, flavorful and delish...not to mention the fresh and yummy margs! The owners, Jose and Lucia were an absolute pleasure to meet and work with for our party. They arrived early to set-up, were very professional, meticulous and took great care of our guests. We ordered street tacos (naturally the carne asada as well as grilled chicken), rice, refried beans, chips & salsa, and quesidillas. Everyone ranted and raved about the food and loved every bit of it...in fact there were very little leftovers which is always a good sign! ;-) I cannot say enough about El Agave Azul. Had Lunch there today. We live here but have never tried it. It was very good! We ordered a couple Modelo's and they were served with frozen glasses. Nice touch. The Burrito and Carne Asada tacos were very good! The food is served on hot plates which is great, yet the food itself was only warm. Not hot. Looks can be deceiving and I believe this place falls into that category. Very gutsy to be right near Gnar, but having eaten there yesterday in Telluride, we were up for something different. None of the other restaurants in town had a table, so into El Agave we went. It was... surprisingly better than we'd expected. Huge portions, but prices are also pretty high (roughly $15 per entree and $6.50 kid meals). Margaritas are varied prices, but the baseline one is $9 and they only go up from there. I'm a vegetarian (mostly vegan) and there's literally nothing on the menu for us, but if you ask, she said they can accommodate with chili relleno, cheese enchilada, veggie fajitas, etc. I was concerned it may be made on the meat grill if I got fajitas, so I opted for a chili relleno I thought would come solo. They brought it out with rice (I didn't eat bc they usually use chicken stock-- I didn't ask) and they gave me whole beans instead of refried (which was awesome, because they recognized I wouldn't want refried beans that are usually made with lard. Big portions = lunch for tomorrow. Guacamole had some hot salsa inside it and wasn't a favorite at the table. Also didn't look too fresh. Pretty authentic. Only indoor seating which was our first experience with an indoor seating situation in 1.5 years, but tables were spaced and well... I guess we've got to take some baby steps. The server was super nice and attentive. We were tourists in the area and walked by and thought why not try! There was a fly trap sticky tape hanging by all the corner windows filled with flies that made me..uncomfortable. Our table was right underneath it, so it just ruined the experience for me! Stopped in here for lunch the other day. Service was great. They have a kids menu. My son had the chicken nuggets and fries. He said it was good. I had the carne asada plate and it was really good. This is a great place. The service was great. Great ambiance with beautiful Mexican music playing. We ordered chicken fajitas- great flavor slightly sweet with lots of bell peppers and purple onions. Yum. We also got Mido plate with ground beef, enchilada, and a tamale. Both were good. The beef enchilada was not spicy at all. The tamale was nice and spicy. Overall both were great. read more

Great margaritas & dinner! We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at El Agave Azul with the family. We enjoyed our margaritas- multiple types from the menu! Stopped here for lunch today. The food was great and the service was friendly and was really good! Had the chicken chimichanga and my husband had the beef chimichanga. Both came with rice and beans and sour cream and guacamole. We both really enjoyed our food. The manager and servers were at times running through the restaurant to bring out hot food or menus--they were scrambling and doing their best to make up for being short staffed. They did great--we enjoyed our lunch and recommend this restaurant. read more

Honestly pretty disappointing. Ordered a standard lunch plate yesterday. Service was ok (relatively fast but not great). They did NOT provide chips and salsa as shown on the menu, They didn't provide any condiments, there was no salsa or hot sauce and To top it off, they actually added an additional 5% service charge which was not disclosed on the menu. If the service and food had been excellent, I might have paid the erroneous service charge without protest ... but they were not so ended up subtracting the service charge from the Tip. read more

1st, there was no wait to be seated on a Saturday at 12:30 in July! I had the Pollo Asado, my husband had the Chipotle Enchilidas (per a recommendation) and both were excellent! Very flavorful and plenty of food to fill us up. The server was also great; personable & friendly. Can't imagine why there isn't a line out the door waiting to be seated!?! We were thrilled to find this spot, while traveling. My husband raved about the chili relleno, I loved the super beef enchiladas, and our kid was very happy with the chicken nuggets and fries. Good little stop in Ridgeway! The food here is surprisingly good. The service was decent. At the time we went they were offering limited indoor seating due to COVID. The margaritas are amazing. Try the Ridgway Margarita with Tajin. For dinner, I had the enchiladas mole (chicken) which was one of the best mole dishes I have experienced (incl. California and Mexico). Excellent service as well. Give this place a try and you won't be disappointed! read more

Waited an hour to get our order taken after or our third attempt at calling for the waiter. Tried to order more drinks but they never came. This restaurant was perfect for after a long day of mountain biking in Telluride. Affordable and delicious, the carne asada was perfect and really hit the spot. My girlfriend also really loved the blue margarita, and this place really made a great day perfect. Plenty of food and great service, I'd definitely go again. Want to love these guys but they just aren't great. Good service. Big space. Open late when nothing else is. All great! The food was mediocre eats at best. Pretty bad rice and beans (I don't know how you do this). Entree items were good-ish. Seasonings felt from a packet. Everything felt basic. No soul or love for the food. Just there on the plate. To start off our salsa had a layer of ice on it that we had to break through to be able to eat it. Then my fiancé ordered a drink and the waitress brought out a completely different drink. Then once we got our food, our chicken chimichangas were raw in the middle. We also only saw our waitress when she sat us and we ordered our food AND when she brought us our check. This is the worst Mexican restaurant I've ever been to. To start out, our salsa had a layer of ice on it that we had to break through with our chips. My fiancé got a completely different drink than what he ordered. And both of our chicken chimichangas had raw chicken meat in them. The service was also terrible. The lady sat us and took our order then we didn't see her for 45 minutes while we just sat there with our raw chimichangas. Not to mention she sat us right next to where they were fixing a part of the floor so the whole time we were there hammers were banging and drills were being used.
