Omg the street tacos were amazing!! I ordered the Barbacoa, carnita, and carne Asada. My favorite was definitely the carnitas taco! The service was great! The corn tortillas were fresh and so soft. Only thing they had on them was cilantro and onion. I had to get some more. The chicken and steak were wonderful as well. Working in Catonsville allows me the advantage of driving past El Agave on a daily basis. I've watched it grow from its baby stages to a full-service restaurant within the last few months. I finally had a chance to check it out with an Amazon Locals deal one evening after work. Our server was super accommodating and gave us great recommendations for food/drinks. She checked in with us frequently but was not overbearing. We thoroughly enjoyed the service! My boyfriend and I sample a variety of street tacos. If you're not a cilantro fan, make sure you request they leave it off of your tacos, as they are very heavy-handed with cilantro otherwise. The meat was flavorful but not too powerful and they were the perfect hand-held size for sharing. We also ordered one of the combinations so that we could experience a variety of menu items. The enchiladas, beans, rice, and burrito were all delicious- no overly cooked or dry meat. The only downside to the food experience was the house-made salsa. It was watery and had a strong taste of cucumbers (in our opinion). While it's not our favorite salsa, the chips and salsa were complimentary so it wasn't a complete loss! read more

So I have been wanting to try this place for several months. Came in around 9 pm on a Saturday night. It was virtually empty. No funky smells. We sat ourselves and the waitress came right over and served us. We started with a cheese quesadilla and guacamole dip. Can't screw up a cheese quesadilla...it was good. The guacamole dip was really good. Lots of chunks of avocado yet still blended well. Kids had chicken fingers meal and hot dog meal. Chicken was very crunchy, like we like, and the daughter ate them all. The hot dog came rolled up in a floor tortilla. Son woofed it down. I had the combo #3-beef enchilada, chicken taco, rice n beans...and I ordered a pork tamale on the side. I did ask for my taco to be beef instead of chicken. What I received was a chicken enchilada, beef taco and pork tamale. Despite the mix up, the food was pretty tasty. The total bill came to just over $53. Not the best mexican I've ever had, but definitely in the top 10. Going to try the tamales trio next time. read more

My boyfriend and I have been looking for a good Mexican restaurant in Catonsville and we've finally found it. This quaint little place has excellent service and a large amount of menu options. Food came out quickly and was delicious. I got the bean chimichanga, and my boyfriend got the Monday fajita special ($9.95 fajitas), both were plentiful in portion size. Not the best shrimp burrito or queso chorizo or strawberry margarita. The burrito wasn't flavorful, had lots of green peppers; however the size and distribution of shrimp was great. The queso chorizo tasted more like Tositos nacho sauce, warmed up, and served with very oily minced meat. The sauce couldn't hold or nicely distribute the oil of chorizo. In about 5 minutes it was an oil sauce. Lastly, the margaritas tasted like a melted ice pop; not tangy, very sweet, with a hint of tequila. I think this could be some people's place, the reviews were great. It's just not the kinda Mexican or Tex-Mex that swept me off my feet. read more

Me and bf were craving some Mexican food and didn't want to drive far so we decided to come here after checking out the pretty good yelp reviews! It was a nice spot, for a Saturday afternoon (about 2pm) there were only about 4 of us in there. We were immediately greeted by the waiter we got free chips and salsa to start (i think the 1st is free and any additional after that costs some $$). My bf ordered the beef Texas tacos with rice and black beans and i ordered the pork Mexican tacos with rice and beans. My bf really enjoyed the Texas tacos and i really liked my food as well. The tortilla for Mexican tacos kind of tasted a little strange and like doughy. But overall it was a pretty good meal! The rice and beans were delicious as well. The portion sizes are pretty good and the food is very affordable. I know a lot of Hispanic restaurants that give you sooo much food and sometimes you're forced to kind of finish it in one sitting. My dining partner was raving about this place and, since we were somewhat nearby and in the mood for Mexican, I said I was ok to try it - I'm new to Baltimore and hadn't really found a Mexican restaurant that I love. It's a small, neighborhood bar that features Mexican food. The vibe was friendly. Many customers there were regulars. Many TVs, all on sports. Most tables were occupied when we got there so we sat at the bar and were greeted and presented with menus quickly. We got the spicy margarita, which was very good, and the free salsa was nice and smoky, chips a tad stale, though. I got the chile relleno (cheese), he got the tres amigos tamales (chicken, pork, cheese) and a nopales salad. The cheese tamale was the best tamale, the others were just okay. He liked his salad alot. My chile relleno was fat! The breading, though was a bit sweet, and the cheese filling wasn't very warm and therefore not melted. All in all, the food was just ok. My wife, two boys, and I frequent this semi neighborhood restaurant. The place has never been crowded and the service is always spot on. We have had most of the menu and everything has been good, but they excel at anything that is grilled. The margaritas, salsa, chip and queso are good. Nothing to write home about but are good. I typically put a dbl shot in the margaritas. The kids menu works very well for us. Catonsville is an area nearly devoid of good mexican restaurant. Though I have been to better Mexican restaurants I give this place a 5 because it is a bit of finding a diamond in the rough. read more

Another well found gem near the heart of Catonsville. For starters I love that this is a family owned business. Our greeter looked about 12 years old and was so polite. I gave this place 4 stars because the ambience, food and service were excellent! My only complaint was the margarita. I ordered the blue margarita with sugar. It came out with salt and sugar on the rim which gave it anfunny taste and they used way to much sweet and sour mix because it was very sour. There was a good amount of tequila in it though so I'll definitely be back to try another flavor. I ordered the Fajitas Mixtas. It comes with shrimp, beef, chicken and fajita veggies. The food came out fast but gave us plenty of time to enjoy the chips and salsa (caution the salsa is a bit spicy but sooo good). The fajitas came out sizzling out and smoking! The meat and shrimp were so flavorful but what really amazed me was the tenderness. The chicken and beef were so tender I ate them right off the skillet. My meal came with rice(so moist and flavorful),beans, jalapeño, sour cream, tomato and guacamole (not great, but okay). I was a little surprised to find that I was only given two flour tortillas with so much meat but I was full after the two so I just boxed the leftover meat and sides.
