Came to catch the tail end of HH and for dinner. Ordered the large margs and they were truly massive but very weak, can't say I felt much of their intended effect. We tried the refrescante (supposedly cucumber and minty, not much different from a classic) and the blackberry frozen (a bit bland, not super sweet). Read raving reviews about the nachos so had to get them- it's a massive platter so definitely worth the $14, layered with nacho/queso cheese and lots of chicken. Well done! The carnitas tacos are pretty average, nothing special. The rice and beans on the side were decent. Can swap for flour tortilla with no extra cost. But nothing can beat Surfside, if you've ever tried them. Service was great! Our server was so enthusiastic and fun, loved him (don't remember the name, sorry). Overall, this place delivers decent Americanized Mexican food but I wouldn't necessarily recommend as personally there was nothing too notable about it. read more

The rest of my party thoroughly enjoyed each of their meals and we discussed returning. To end the afternoon, we ordered some churros which were shaped like cute donuts and paired with a side of Nutella. They were a sweet end to an AMAZING brunch experience. I ordered the blackened fish tacos which were very good. The fish was soooo flavorful and moist with a nice crisp edge on it. The slaw was tangy and the cilantro sauce was the perfect spice level! The black beans on the side had a ton of garlic (love!!!). I ordered the churro donuts for dessert. They were hot and fresh, just wish they had some more cinnamon other than in the chocolate sauce. YES YES AND YESSS!! I absolutely loved El Bebe! We got there about 15 min before our reservation and were still seated very promptly which was nice because we were starving! The food was phenomenal!! We ordered the pork belly tacos, bulgogi tacos and the queso! While the queso was more watery than I would have liked the flavor was on point and had just the right hint of spicy! The tacos were delicious but I have to say the pork belly was my favorite! Not everyone can cook pork belly well and it was so tender, juicy and packed full of flavor at El Bebe! The only thing I wish they did was allow you to mix and match the tacos! It's something they should think about in the future!! Three of us visited for happy hour on that beautiful day in February. We first sat at the bar but the hostess was so helpful and accommodating when we asked to be outside. We waited at the bar until a table was available, probably 10 min after we arrived. We each got two large margaritas, which were $15 after the HH special. We got the passionfruit and the Fresca-jalapeno which we all enjoyed. We also ordered the taco of the day, which was a steak taco, along with the chips and queso. One of my girlfriends thought the sauce was too spicy but she does admit that her tolerance is low. I asked for one taco without cilantro and I thoroughly enjoyed it, with the sauce. I also really like the chips and queso. Overall, I don't think the HH deals were great but I enjoyed everything I ordered so I'm ok with the cost. Pre COVID Review We came here on a Saturday night after a Go-go basketball game (back eons ago in March when live sports were still a thing and Corona was a beer we were looking forward to enjoying this summer). The place was pretty backed as you'd expect but we were able to get a table and the service was fast and friendly. The chips and salsa trio was solid with what seemed like fresh made tomatillo green sauce, smoky red salda, and pico de gallo. The tortrilla chips seemed really fresh too and might be homemade. The fresa jalapeno margarita was unique in that it had a sweet but not too sweet strawberry flavor and some heat from the jalapeno. The two balanced each other perfectly and was a legit marg. This little hole in the wall is much bigger than you'd think when walking by. Just down the street from my hotel, I popped in one night looking for a quick snack. The bartender was cool and recommended the chips and queso to go with my whiskey. The chips were warm, perfectly salted and crispy. Service: The waiters and staff at El Bebe are some of the most pleasant I've experienced! They made friendly banter, we're very helpful with recommendations, and checked up on us frequently. Food: While I hate the rebranding of elotes to "Mexican Street Corn," I'll admit this was delicious! The tortilla chips used to dip were pleasantly seasoned with Tajín or the like. We ordered the steak fajitas as our main course, and they came out piping hot and delicious, not tough or chewy at all. Fed two of us just fine. The two stars are for the bartenders, Eddie and Lamont, they're awesome. The prices have gone up and the quality has gone down. They've taken grilled chicken off the menu and replaced it with a dry and flavorless chicken tinga. I used to get the quesadillas and nachos with chicken but it tastes disgusting with the dry shredded chicken, it always tastes a few days old. They also took chorizo off the menu (even though it's still in the queso fundido) but I guess it wasn't as popular. The tacos are also extremely tiny for the $4 price tag. Taco Bamba has tacos that are double in size for the same price range. The margaritas are good but unfortunately too expensive during happy hour. First they were $6, then $7 and now "$2 off". Prices range between $10-12 so $2 off ends up being $8-10 during happy hour... not worth it. read more

during a weekend staycation at the Wharf in DC, I visited el bebe pretty much based off Yelp reviews. often times you can't go wrong with tacos and tequilas and this experience allowed me to keep that going. it's a pretty small restaurant with half tables and half kitchen space. there is outdoor seating which on a nice night would be pretty magical. I was a lone diner, which often times I feel like I'm just taking up space but I felt comfortable here. I ordered a passion fruit marg (very strong w lots of lime), the guac appetizer and carnitas platter. It felt like a ton of food for my tiny two top. I gobbled the tacos immediately down to the point where I was just eating the sides. The service was fast, as soon as my app came out so did the food. I remember being there for less than an hour. I would definitely go back when in the dc area with a group of friends. The music was a nice mix of R&B and hip hop, as I was leaving they were playing A Tribe Called Quest. Not only was the carne asada some of the softest and best marinated steak I've had in a LONG time but the fact that we came in 10 minutes before closing and no one blinked an eye but gave exemplary service and took their time. Holy moly. So you get three tacos and delicious rice and beans that were perfectly done for $18 which in this town is a steal but the fact that I felt perfectly and delightedly full was the icing on the cake. Decor wise, it was beautiful to see all of the artwork that immersed you in a space that felt like an epic Guadalajaran restaurant. I ordered the refrescante Margarita grande (they weren't strong) but it was refreshing. I also ordered their trio salsa which was $5 on happy hour and I ordered their guac. THEIR GUAC IS DELICIOUS! Honestly the food was all delicious. This is where it gets interesting ......so as I am sitting there my friend tells me don't look back and get up slowly. I said huh? He said GET UP. THERE WAS A MOUSE CRAWLING OUT OF A HOLE UP THE FURNITURE. A MOUSE! Then I noticed they had small insect traps for like pest and stuff. I honestly was just disgusted afterwards. My friend told our waitress and she said they have an exterminator coming every week. I guess the manager is aware of this. I truly hope they get that issue resolved! So when we got to the restaurant, there was about a 30 minute wait. My fault because I should've made reservations, I did not know that I could make reservations. Anyway, the greeter at the door was very polite and told us about the wait times were and even offered us a table to sit at while we wait for our regular table. to the credit table was available within 30 minutes which was great. We ordered margaritas and queso upfront. Margaritas were fine, for my taste were a little bit on the limey side but they were good. The queso it was good, smaller than expected. Additionally their guac was "extremely good," but also on the small size. Maybe should have different sizes. We eventually ordered 2 of them. The selling point for us was the food. We ordered the shrimp quesadilla. There was a mango salsa that came in it. We requested that all the toppings be placed on the side, which is a good call for us. So inside the quesadilla of was just that the shrimp and the cheese. This was 100% delicious. Mango salsa was good on the side as we think it would've made the quesadilla a little bit soppy. Definitely a 4.5 by our standards. margaritas getting 8 out of 10 from both of us and that it was a little bit too limey for us. But we will certainly go back. read more

Perfect amount of dressing and toppings. Balanced the meal out well. The donut churros were nice and hot. Crunchy on the outside with a soft and warm center. A light dusting of powdered sugar on top. I got an order of the bulgogi taco platter, just to satisfy a Korean taco fix I've had for a minute. It was ready when I had called just 15 minutes beforehand. The sauce and seasoning they use on the shrimp is so good. The chips and salsa is also amazing. I don't know what seasoning they put on their chips but I need to get the secret! The second time i sat at the bar. I went I got the crisp shrimp tacos and the birria tacos. My first time trying birria tacos and they did not disappoint. The broth and tacos were amazing. I almost wanted to get another round but I stopped myself. It's a nice affordable place. The portions look a bit on the small side but I can't complain much, and the bathrooms were clean. I got the chicken quesadilla. It was good, but I was expecting there to be peppers and onions inside the tortilla. There was only chicken and cheese. Also my friend got a pina colada and it was ALL tequila. At 2PM in the afternoon it was a bit much. We passed it around the table so that maybe we could all finish it and get it's money's worth. The waiter was nice, and I was appreciative that he didn't come back to the table between every other bite like most restaurants do. Overall it was ok. They had different varieties so there's a nice selection for you to choose from. Ranging from Mexican flavors to Asian inspired flavors. Not bad. The rice and beans were a miss for me. The rice was kinda undercooked. (Hard) and the beans were kinda bland. The drink was okay. Frozen margaritas always leave more to be desired for me. I should've gotten on the rocks to be able to enjoy it and feel a bit buzzed. (Felt nothing) upgraded to a grande margarita just to catch a buzz and still nothing. The elote corn dip was my bomb! Came here for dinner after Enchant the other night and had a very nice experience! We started with an order of chips and Queso that were very tasty. I opted for the chicken tinga mole enchiladas (I was just craving something warm and full of comfort) and while they were delicious I wasn't expecting the level of heat the sauce packed. I think I went thru at least a gallon of water trying to calm the fire in my mouth, feeling like DJ Khaled on Hot Ones. The flavor was great but it did almost kill me. Also the portion sizes for the enchilada were a bit small for the price, especially after seeing my friend's giant burrito and having immediate order envy. Our wait staff was friendly and not over the top, but we were also packed in so close, I could hear my neighbors' conversation more clearly than my friend that I came with (although that eavesdropping was JUICY).
