Finally made it to a Queens staple, Peking BBQ!…read more They certainly have a following and the place was definitely full of folks waiting for and enjoying the food. It surprisingly took longer than I expected for my à la carte order of ribs, almost 25 mins which was strange considering they were right in front of me in the warmer. The organization of the orders didn't seem to be efficient to be honest. If the ribs were good though, after the wait, I'd be all good to be honest. Overall the ribs were really dry and overcooked, perhaps from being in the warmer a little bit longer than expected. They were also really skinny ribs with not a whole lot of meat. Perhaps I'll have to give them another try sometime given the number of folks that were there.

Finally went to Peking BBQ in Woodside. Didn't realize how convenient it is to public…read moretransportation. (Just off the 7 /or walk from the Q104 / R,M - Northern Blvd. to Q18) It was just okay, not Amazing by what the socials say. Had the ($21) 1/4 Chicken & Ribs Plate, they threw in an extra 1/4. (I was overwhelmed at first and ordered a plain quarter chicken (dark meat) & 3-rib plate. The cashier was nice enough to recommend the #8 combo (1/4 Chicken, 3 Ribs) instead.) The cut of ribs were good but slightly dry. Was recommended the beans (good) with white rice (dry) by the cashier. Dark meat was the best. First bites of the white meat & ribs were dry, but got better towards the middle. The green sauce was watery and didn't have much flavor. Not sure why everyone raves about green sauce. Was expecting Mama's Empanadas level, but this was 1/4 of that flavor. The Cantonese-speaking cashier was so nice & chill! Communication was easy (English, Cantonese, or Spanish) & they had a steady flow of customers, of all backgrounds. I would get the food to go, the dining area is one long, narrow room and for whatever reason the floor was very wet. I guess it's good that they mopped at 4 PM? There were a few guys that were either workers or hanging out at the far back tables, one or two middle-age couples dining in. It was just kind of a sad ambience. The cashier recommended the Lomo Saltado next time. Maybe I went at a slow time, 4 PM Friday. First bite of food at home was decent, but nothing overwhelming. I would stick to all dark meat! Reheat the pink beans at home. Glad that they usually get their workers two weeks vacation (as per a sign in 2022) - shows that business is good! *Didn't realize they're connected to Caravan Chicken in Astoria. Might try them (closer to me) to compare.

We were also watching the NYK - Spurs Finals, and instead of telling us that they were closing. They just shut off the audio and turned off the tv. Mind you, we just finish paying and we would have order another round of drinks if they left the tv on for 5 more minutes. The game was literally going to end. And i get that they were closing but a friendly "hey guys, we getting ready to close." Would have been nice. The server also rushed my friend who got there at 9:55pm, and said that they were getting ready to close the kitchen. They still took 3 parties after her. Last party came in almost at 11. This place was empty and i could see why. Avoid this place. I want my tip back.

The steak and eggs were tasty also but what really stood out was the French toast. It was made really well and didn't have that soggy taste French toast can have sometimes - we love that. I'm usually hesitant ordering French toast out but here, I'll order again. My one critique is that the service could've been better, especially since they weren't crowded. The food came super fast but ordering more water and other essentials became a bit of a hassle since we waited for the server to check in but realized trying to flag them down was a better option and that took some time. With all that being said, the staff was friendly and respectful so that's always appreciated.

My husband and I were both nursing a hangover, so I ordered the traditional Irish breakfast (nice and light), while he ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich with a side salad. I loved my Irish breakfast. The eggs were perfectly cooked; the sausage and bacon and pudding were flavorful and tasty; and I liked that I had the option to get skinny fries and rye toast, which I realize are not traditional. I would come back again for this breakfast alone. My husband didn't love his buffalo chicken sandwich, sadly. He thought the chicken was too thin and dry, and he didn't care for the bread. Oh well. I think I could convince him to return regardless. Prices were reasonable and service was great.

Neat, fun spot for some good food in Sunnyside!…read more For anyone like me who isn't great at reading restaurant/bar descriptors, this place isn't *just* a bar, nor is it *just* a restaurant - it's a bit of both. Cozy but not cramped, cute little spot that's great for Summer relaxed vibes and munchies. They're specialized in Latino food and drink. They apparently have a whole flight of Margaritas and/or Mojitos to sample - I'd love to try one sometime, however yesterday I stuck with a regular Margarita and was pretty pleased. Clearly made in-house, none of the store-bought drink mixes or anything involved. My mom and I split a few appetizers between the two of us and were quite full, even had some food to bring home. Went with the birria tacos (solid), a trio of other tacos (steak + chicken + pork), and a plate of fried plantains with beef and mushrooms that was really fun - first time we'd had that, glad the waitress talked us into it. Everything came with home-made guac as well. They have a full bar with quite the selection of drinks, lots of Happy Hour specials up on the walls, and a solid, straightforward menu of additional appetizers and also burgers and sandwiches. The staff are super nice and upbeat. My Ma was buying, and I believe she spent about $85 for 3+ appetizers and a drink. Not exactly cheap but it you think of it more as a filling and fairly tasty lunch for 2, roughly $40 each - it's not bad at all. Will definitely come back and give that flight of Margs a try!

The seatings seem to space out with more breathing room a bit from long time ago. More waitstaff and very attentive. Indoor was very cold but the outdoor was hot that day so we chose to sit indoor. Duck noodle was not disappoint. Kuay tiew kaak- curry noodle with rice noodle, chicken, bean sprouts, egg, and peanuts was a good reminiscence. The curry itself was very thick which makes this dish heavy. This was the same as before. Kao soy chicken was a bit different. It used to be bone in thigh, which was the highlight of the dish. Now it is boiled chicken pieces. Something is not the same with the taste either but the dish is still good. Breaded shrimp was very crispy!

Over the years, they've updated the dining room and become a bit more polished to keep up with the wave of trendy, upscale restaurants that have opened around them. Thankfully, the food hasn't changed. The flavors remain solid, traditional, and deeply satisfying. While many places have leaned into fusion or toned things down for broader appeal, this restaurant has stayed true to its roots. Whenever I'm feeling nostalgic for the flavors I remember from the back alleys of Bangkok, this is where I come. It's still one of the closest experiences I've found outside of Thailand.
