(Just off the 7 /or walk from the Q104 / R,M - Northern Blvd. to Q18) It was just okay, not Amazing by what the socials say. Had the ($21) 1/4 Chicken & Ribs Plate, they threw in an extra 1/4. (I was overwhelmed at first and ordered a plain quarter chicken (dark meat) & 3-rib plate. The cashier was nice enough to recommend the #8 combo (1/4 Chicken, 3 Ribs) instead.) The cut of ribs were good but slightly dry. Was recommended the beans (good) with white rice (dry) by the cashier. Dark meat was the best. First bites of the white meat & ribs were dry, but got better towards the middle. The green sauce was watery and didn't have much flavor. Not sure why everyone raves about green sauce. Was expecting Mama's Empanadas level, but this was 1/4 of that flavor. The Cantonese-speaking cashier was so nice & chill! Communication was easy (English, Cantonese, or Spanish) & they had a steady flow of customers, of all backgrounds. I would get the food to go, the dining area is one long, narrow room and for whatever reason the floor was very wet. I guess it's good that they mopped at 4 PM? There were a few guys that were either workers or hanging out at the far back tables, one or two middle-age couples dining in. It was just kind of a sad ambience. The cashier recommended the Lomo Saltado next time. Maybe I went at a slow time, 4 PM Friday. First bite of food at home was decent, but nothing overwhelming. I would stick to all dark meat! My first meal back from Japan had to be some roasted chicken. Although, I bet the Japanese could make some fire roasted chicken if they put their mind to it. A lot of people in my comments have been talking about Peking BBQ as a potential chicken Titan, so I made the push to Queens to check it out. Right when I walked in, I knew I was in for a treat as the smell of high quality roasted chicken gracing my nostrils is something that is unmistakable. It's as unmistakable as the smell of a quality NY pizza shop. This spot is a cash only chinese peruvian restaurant that is the definition of no frills. Not a single frill in here. It's straight barebones which I've come to know is a crucial ingredient to ELITE roasted chicken. I got the 1/2 chicken with a side of pork fried rice, and an order of maduros all for under $20. This chicken was as advertised. Crispy golden skin, with the meat being juicy and tender, almost falling off the bone. The perfect contrast. Not Casa Adela level tenderness, but when paired with the green sauce it's tough to beat. I'm tryna drown in that Peruvian green sauce. These maduros were DANCING like an iced out rollie. They were caramelized golden brown with a slightly crisp outside, and a soft interior. Some of the best maduros I've had. I'm slapping a 9.5 on it, which ties it with caravan chicken for #2 on my nyc roasted chicken list. Authors note here, but I'm curious as to the reasoning behind the Chinese Peruvian restaurants. You don't come here for the shiny fancy interior, or the best service. You come just for the food. Great price for what you got. I always order to go, just walk past the pick up window, where everyone standing, to small window before the seating area, where people line up to order. Cash only, and they will give you receipt/ ticket to pick up. And wait for your number to be called. Chicken can sometimes a tad salty, but packed with flavor. My favorite thing to get is their chicken fried rice, way better than pork fried rice . Tried Chinese Peruvian cuisine for the first time at Peking BBQ and wow, it was so good. A friend recommended it and now I get why it's clearly a local favorite. There was already a line forming for their Chinese Peruvian rotisserie chicken. Heads up, it's cash only. They do have the usual American Chinese takeout items, but the Chinese Peruvian dishes are what make this spot stand out. My favorite was the Aguadito, a Peruvian chicken and cilantro soup that was super savory and comforting. I'm a soup girl no matter the weather and this one really hit the spot. The rotisserie chicken was juicy and flavorful, and the skin was perfectly crispy. We also got the spare ribs, which were tender and had a nice chew to them. I got home and warmed up the fries in the air fryer (ate the chicken not warmed up so it wouldn't get drier). Unfortunately before I walked in the door I accidentally dropped the bag and when I opened it, the larger cup of green sauce spilled over the box. This was a bummer because the other cup was tiny. The chicken was slightly dry but delicious, the marinade on the chicken was really good, slightly sweet but more tangy from soy sauce and garlic. I usually order the 1/4 Chicken with Fried Rice juicy, flavorful, and packed with veggies. The ribs are rich, fatty, and full of flavor definitely a highlight. The portions are huge and always satisfying. That said, the interior leaves a lot to be desired. It looks outdated, a bit dirty, and the bathrooms could definitely use a deep clean. I'm not sure why it took me so long to check this place out. Perhaps it was because the place is always bustling and there seems to be an endless line of people waiting to order. Having finally tried their famous chicken, I can say it was definitely worth the wait (and the line moves very quickly). My husband and I ordered a whole chicken and five piece ribs, because we knew we would want leftovers. The ribs were decent, but the chicken is clearly the star. The decision was made to go pretty straight forward with a #1. This had pork fried rice and 2 pieces of chicken. Picky with the type of chicken you eat (i.e dark/white meat, breast of drumstick)? Note there will be an up charge with your request. I'm not at all mad about this because I'm from the camp of "you get what you get and you don't get upset". Two nice sizes pieces of delicious, rotisserie chicken sat on a bed of super tasty pork fried rice. The kicker is their green sauce. Again, you're gonna be charged if you want extra. WORTH EVERY PENNY! We cut the heat with some sweet plantains. I wish they would have been a bit on the sweeter side, but all in all very good and made fresh. I was excited to try this place because it's always coming up on these "hole in the wall" places that you must visit. I went in at a time when they just ran out of batch of chicken and I was told that I had to wait about an hour for a chicken. Because of that I ended up only ordering the ribs. The ribs were okay. These videos make it seem like they are juicy and tasty but I found them to be chewy and the taste is okay. Most importantly I found the quality of the meat to be very suspect, to the point where I do not want to eat pork ever again. I'm giving it a star because I did like the green sauce. Their food is decent. The chicken can be a bit on the inconsistent side. Some times it's juicy, sometimes kinda dry... guess it all depends on how lucky you get with timing... if they got chickens that came freshly off the rotisserie or if you went in when they had a batch already sitting in their warmer. On our last trip... it was sorta on the dryer side; also, the sweet plantains could have been much better... they were kinda hard and cut in a cylindrical fashion (instead of the traditional slanted way). All that aside, I must state they are very honest. They made a mistake with our order; they gave us pork fried rice instead of the House Special that we asked for. We went back as soon as we found out about this error and they had our FR ready, waiting for us. They even told us to keep the FR they gave us by mistake. Don't want to mess around with sides, so ordered the Half Chicken ($9ish) and the Five Piece Spare Ribs ($18ish). Price is okay, a little expensive but it all looks great. Food comes out within 10 minutes where you take to go. Chicken is great, juicy all the way through and flavorful skin as well. Ribs aren't quite fall-off-the-bone, but plenty of meat and a nice tangy sauce on top. Was easy to finish for one person without any extras. Cash only here but there are ATMs around the street. Forget your local grocery store rotisserie chicken, don't be basic, come here. This is the spot for bbq chicken. Super tender, soft, juicy, skin perfectly crisp, one of the best in the city. Their ribs are also phenomenal, soft, flavorful, fall of the bone, super delicious. You can't go wrong with either. Better yet, get a chicken and ribs combo! Aside from the BBQs, their Lomo Saltado might be my favorite. Yes, those are 100% french fries w my beef and rice! Growing up on beef w tomato over rice, this was another level. I inhaled this dish! Beef super soft, flavorful, saucy with the tomato and rice, I couldn't stop spooning bite after bite til it was all done. Now despite my 5 stars, they aren't perfect, as their Lo Mein and Sweet and sour pork dishes were just average. Their pork pieces were essentially char siu, decent dishes but I found meat dry here, so go for the above dishes instead. Finally, if you want thicker fries, try their fried yuca. Pro tip, ask for a handful more packets of their green sauce, I dunked each piece, essentially making yuca hulks! Maybe I just like their green sauce... Visiting a new restaurant in my neighborhood called La Rotisserie du Coin triggered an obsession in me to find the best rotisserie chicken in Queens. For three days last week, I ate nothing but roast chicken. To be fair, I ordered the same half a chicken every time (except Costco) during busy lunch or dinner hours. Here are my findings below with a food score (independent of price or value) and some key notes for each establishment. LA ROTISSERIE DU COIN - 4/10, Chicken was barely warm and somewhat dry. This could be due to the fact that I was the only customer at 7:45pm. The skin had some hint of rosemary and other herbs, but the meat was quite bland. Restaurant had by far the nicest decor of all the chicken shops visited. Price ($12.85) for half a chicken with two sauces was also by far the most expensive. BOSTON MARKET - 5/10, Surprisingly better than LRDC, mainly because it was warmer and juicier. Skin had a stronger flavor of spices. The white meat was still slightly dry, but the dark meat was quite good. For $9.88 you get half a bird plus two sides. PIO PIO (Middle Village) - 8/10, My favorite roast chicken for a long time and it still does not disappoint. Super tender and juicy meat, along with amazingly tasty seasoning. $10 gets you half a pollo and endless green sauce (best of any restaurant that served it). COSTCO (LIC) - 7/10, Each chicken is time stamped. So fresh and hot, the box nearly burned my hands. While not as flavorful as some, it was definitely the juiciest and most tender. Possibly the most meatiest as well. Nowhere else I tried can beat the price of $4.99 for a whole entire chicken either. ROAST & CO. - 3/10, Lukewarm and quite dry. Unfortunately the worst of my experiment. My belief is that, due to their larger menu compared to the other similar restaurants, it's hard to keep the chicken fresh. Half a bird for $13.95 comes with two sides, which were decent. CARAVAN CHICKEN - 7/10, Similar to Pio Pio, but a little less tender, a bit less juicy, and the green sauce was not as thick. Skin has a little crispiness to it that no other roast chicken had. Fantastic buy at $7.21 for half. PEKING BBQ - 8/10, Same owner as Caravan Chicken, but the seasoning on the skin has a added sweetness (cha siu sauce) added to the traditional Peruvian herbs and spices. On the day I was there, I waited 20 mins for a new batch, which produced a better result. Once again, $7.21 for half a chicken is a great deal. In the end, this experiment proved something all foodies should already know ... ... everything tastes better when it's freshly made. Unlike a steakhouse that can fire up a piece of meat upon request, rotisserie chicken takes time to prepare and becomes overcooked the longer it sits in the oven. That's why places with consistent business will always win out in this race. If I have to pick one winner based on purely taste, then it would have to be Pio Pio. However, the biggest dark horse was definitely Costco. This was a fun experience, but I don't want to see another rotisserie chicken for months. read more

You must try this place. There is a similar location near called Caravan chicken. They have the exact same menu. I selected Peking BBQ to save on distance. The food here is very very good. I love meals that contain fruit and or nuts. Theirs has fruit in some of the meals. I picked the sweet and sour pork which of course had the fruit. It was really tasty. We also had the 3 piece ribs and 1/4 chicken which was also good. When i first entered it was a bit of a crowd, but it was mostly people who had placed their order and were waiting. Once i was able to order it was really fast. If i'm in the area again, i'll definitely pick up an order. Please visit, you will not be disappointed.
