I originally ordered online but the pickup order did not seem to go through despite seeing the payment on my side--however they honored my order (showing them receipts)! As such, we decided to dine in. Ambiance (5/5): The establishment was about third full when we arrived around 1:30p so we were immediately seated for our party of 5. The place is moderately sized and can definitely fit large parties. Menus are located below the glass of the tables. Service (3/5): It was difficult to get the several waitresses' attention. We also had to flag down service to get our water refilled. Once done, you walk up to the front to pay your bill. Again, they honored my online payment and so we only paid the second dish we ordered dining in. Momo comes with 8 per order Recommendations: Momo (jhol, chili, and kothay in order,) beef sukuti, laphing, egg chowmein, and sel roti Less recommended: Bhatmas sadeko, duck sekuwa, and goat hyakula I went to this Nepali spot with 5 others around a week ago, where we had a good meal with some issues. First, it was very hot that day, and the back of the main room didn't have an air conditioner that was working properly. Second, while the servers were friendly, there were service issues, including a couple of dishes not being what we ordered, and one dish being very late. The former was even more annoying as the waitress repeated back what I had ordered. In terms of drinks, I got a butter tea regardless of the heat, as well as a Diet Coke later, and we got some food soon. From the appetizers, we quickly got our two orders of their Sel Roti, a rice doughnut with a spicy dipping sauce, which were $2 each. I have had this before in a couple of other Nepali spots, and by comparison, these were larger and a bit more oily. The texture was crispy and soft with a bit of pleasant sweetness. I would personally recommend one for every four people or so. There were also two orders of the alright $6 Bhatmas Sadeko, or marinated soybean salad with spices, onion, green chili, garlic, and a bit of lemon juice. This had a fun, crunchy texture and a nice spicy aftertaste, but the flavor was only OK overall. The favorite of the appetizers was their excellent take on Laphing, or spicy cold noodles made from mung beans. For $7, this came out to $1 per piece. The chewy texture of the mung bean paired wonderfully with the filling consisting of wai wai, a crunchy instant noodle, and a mix of herbs. This dish had a good kick as well. Next came all the momo. In general, they were plump with a soft texture on the outside and were generously filled, and I can see very easily why they've won the momo crawl year after year. The first momo that arrived was the Beef Chili Momo for $13, which was a mistake as I had asked for the standard steamed version. Regardless, I liked the chili version, which had a bit of spiciness and some sweetness. I would say, though, that I prefer the chili momo from Kasthmandap, which has even more depth of flavor. My favorite of the bunch, and our favorite dish of the night, was the Paneer Jhol Momo for $12. The broth was wonderfully complex, and the soft, crumbly paneer inside was delicious. I would highly recommend these either in paneer or other forms. Last were the $13 Shrimp Kothay Momo, with "kothay" meaning pan-fried. These resembled and tasted closest to an overly large pot-sticker and were tasty, but our least favorite. This dish had another service issue, as the inside was very likely not shrimp, as it resembled a large meatball. We otherwise mostly got Nepalese BBQ, which was a mixed bag, with one of the dishes being one of the best of the night, while we disliked the others. Best of the bunch was easily the $18 Beef Sukuti, listed as homemade jerky made from lean meat, slowly dried to lock in flavor. This was one of the best versions of this dish I've had, with the beef having a wonderful mix of dry and soft textures. I would recommend this heavily. The other 2 BBQ dishes were served similarly and were easily our least favorite things. The dishes were the $18 Duck Sekuwa and the $19 Goat Hyakula, and both were served similarly with some beaten rice, pickles, and some more of the sauce which came with the sel roti. While some pieces of each of them were flavorful, albeit dry, others were composed virtually entirely of fat. We disliked the texture overall, with a slight preference from the group going to the sekuwa. Last was the Egg Chowmein for $12, listed as stir-fried noodles with protein, Nepali vegetables, and spices. This dish was taking a very long time to come out, and I eventually asked as everyone was getting hot whether it was ready, and our waitress asked if we wanted it to stay or to go, and that it would take another 10 minutes. A good 20 minutes later, the very large portion arrived. Outside of the hassle, the flavors were decent, and the noodles had a bit of wok hei. If I were to judge this place solely on the momo, the sukuti, and the laphing while ignoring service, I'd easily bump this place up. However, there were a couple of other dishes we disliked, and the service actively made our meal a bit worse by giving us the wrong food. If you can put up with these issues, I would still recommend this place. read more

This place is all about the momos so its better to come with a small group so you can order a variety. They are nicely packed and on the larger side. The pan fried were my favorite of the versions we ordered which was surprising because I generally prefer jhol, but there's isn't the best version I've had. We tried the Sel Roti and its a good item to order for a little contrast - same with the Wai Wai Sadeko but if we didn't order these I would have been fine. We ordered a Goat Thali, but its probably not the best thing to share with a group - It would make a satisfy meal for one person, but not a lot to share. They have self service teas that they charge a $1 for - no unlimited refills on this. Service is decent enough, but I wasn't a fan of having to go up to the counter have them calculate the bill while you wait. We came pretty close to closing time, but the server was very friendly and helped us order from the menu by answering a bunch of our questions. After reading the reviews, we were expecting a long wait, but the food came out in a reasonable amount of time. We ordered the fried momos and the jhol momos. Bhanchha Ghar is easy to overlook if you're not paying attention. With multiple accolades praising their momos, my friends and I confirmed that their momos are indeed worth their weight in praise. Service seems to be manned by family and family friends and the general vibe is casual. It's an authentic mom and pop shop when the smallest sliver of air is coming from a ceiling AC that is too weak to cool the space. Fair warning for those who are looking for food on a hot day, prepare to sweat out all the food you're eating. Despite the heat, the momos were super flavorful. The chicken jhol momos were delightful and served in a tangy broth while the fried potato momos were well seasoned, crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. The only catch is that the fried potato momos harden when they cool down so have them quickly. Our group also tried the beef Sukuti which is a combination of beef jerky and multiple sides of vegetables and lentils. The sides were great but we weren't a big fan of the beef. And despite all the food we ordered, the meal was really cheap. Places like Bhanchha Gar prove that you don't need to look far in Jackson Heights for delicious and affordable ethnic food. Both dishes were decent, though some of the Nepali side dishes didn't quite suit my Americanized palate. The momo was my personal favorite since its dumpling-like flavor was more familiar to me. One thing I noticed was that the seating is on the second floor while the restroom is on the first, making it a bit inconvenient to go back & forth. Finally made it out here as part of our food crawl to get the jhol momos and the sel roti which you might see talked about online. First of all we have to honor how difficult it is to find authentic Nepali food elsewhere in the united states and coming here is an honoring of the diversity that NYC, specifically Queens has to offer, and an indulgence in experiencing another culture in a way we shouldn't take for granted as new yorkers. JHOL MOMO So i'm not crazy about momos. But this was really great, and I would definitely come back to get this again. The soup that the momos were kept in had some tomato flavor, some spice/heat running mild/moderately through it, and was fresh with the herb garnish on top. The meat did not contain celery (which I'm not crazy about and some other momos have), and were plump and juicy and ofc had a thick skin. Good stuff. Enjoyed this honestly. SEL ROTI So I love rice flour and anything made from it, but on the spectrum of these types of items the sel roti I think was not my favorite. I think by itself it's got a nice crumble on the outside, though a bit plain/very mildly sweet from the rice flour; the accompaniment in the middle with veggies was nice, but I'm not sure they melded well together for me personally. Great food, terrible service. After an hour, one friend's food hadn't come yet. We asked two different servers a total of four times and they both went "to check on it" and never returned. By the time my friend got his food everyone was done and he was so frustrated he got it to-go. Also, when they brought one of our momo orders they dropped two momo on the floor, said they'd bring two to replace them and never did. A truly disappointing experience. This was a really delicious meal. The wai wai sadeko is kind of like bhelpuri made with instant noodles - spicy and fresh from the raw vegetables and lime juice. This was a really nice snack. I also had veg samay baji, which is a thali served with toasted poha instead of rice or roti. I enjoyed all the dishes - spice from the chickpea and potato curry, tanginess from the achaars, slight bitterness from what I think was karela, and crunch from bhatmas sadeko (soybean salad). For a drink, I had a slightly sweet plain lassi - the menu makes it seem like a salty lassi, but maybe you have to specify. In hindsight, getting two dishes was far too much food for just one person, and the wai wai sadeko was pretty much the same flavor profile as the bhatmas sadeko. I also might prefer to have a regular thali next time for more textural variety with rice/roti instead of the crunchy poha. They're stuffed to the brim. The goat wasn't as gamy as I thought it would be. The broth is a little bit spicy but warming. Sel roti was a sweet donut almost. The chutney/salsa that came with it made it a perfect sweet and savory dish. The restaurant is such a bargain. My friend and I felt full only after 4 momos each and the sel roti. The beef momos were packed with a ton of cilantro as well. We also ordered the goat sekuwa ($18) which came with grilled and skewered goat, sliced carrots, and a very pungent achar. We ordered our food to-go but Nepali Bhanccha Ghar is a popular sit-down restaurant that is conveniently located across the Jackson Heights-Roosevelt Av (E/F/M/R/7) train station. This was my first time having momos and they did not disappoint! Both the goat and chicken momos were super juicy and tender. I loved the tomato curry soup that came with it. I wish it was spicy but it was still a good addition. We also had their sel roti which came with a very fragrant and spicy "salsa". I definitely recommend dipping it into the momo soup too!
