The decor is beautiful at this restaurant is beautiful. They recently opened so I was excited to try it out. I think they are working out some kinks in just opening so I do want to visit again after some time has passed. There churros were hot and fresh, but no cinnamon sugar which I expected on my churro. They did ask if I wanted a Oreo or plain churro, I went with what I thought was an original churro, but it had no cinnamon sugar on it and was drizzled with chocolate sauce which I'm also not a fan of that. I ordered their steak which was $30, it was definitely overpriced in my opinion. They also asked how I wanted it cooked, which doesn't make sense because it was so thin and well done regardless. When I came in at lunch time by myself, one of the staff asked me if I was from grubhub or Uber eats one of those services. I was not a fan of that. They had an interesting menu and I will return to try their food again and I'm sure it will be a better experience. I consider maybe this was an off day or maybe I started off with a not so good impression.

As it is my first time here, I had no idea what to expect. The menu has so many delightful choices, I had to rely upon my gracious and patient waitress, Andrea, for suggestions and recommendations. I tried the Pupusa Revueltas and also added a Mangonada for a drink. Sooooo delightful and flavorful!!! Lately, food has been tasting on the bland side to me. Well, it's just been the wrong food - I am not losing my sense of taste at all. El Fogon is a treasure and I can't wait to come back and try different dishes!!!!

El Fogón is a yummy restaurant in Chesapeake with great décor. Do not expect to be in and out quickly. Leave plenty of time in your schedule when visiting. The atmosphere here is really cool, its fire/harth themed décor makes a warm cozy feel. There are little electric faux fireplaces all over and this was an enjoyable part of the experience. El Fogón has a great bar and Jorge was doing a great job keeping drinks moving for customers. He also did a great job at directing the food runners to the right tables so as orders trickled out of the kitchen customers could get their food. The food at El Fogón was good, I ordered the burrito California. It is a large burrito packed with meat, french-fries, and cheese. I do think a few ingredients were missing (pico de gallo). Overall service is slow. There are a few employees who were hustling and knew what they were doing but the majority seemed lost. El Fogón has a great social media presence that seems AI generated. My party was 2 people an from the time we were seated until we ordered as over 10 min, and then we waited over an hour for our food. Both dishes were incomplete. I didn't send back my food since I didn't have another hour to wait. The food is delicious when you get it, just be prepared to wait a while. I am not likely to return.

I've been hearing about El Fogon from people excited about a new restaurant in town! The place is decorated beautifully and has amazing art murals. The food and drinks get 5 stars ! It's delicious! I had steak nachos and a Pisco Sour. Presentation of drinks and food is nice which I see why they look so good on social media. The promoting of El Fogon is top notch as they pop up on Tik Tok and have promotional videos on YouTube etc. Now the food is living up to the hype BUT the service , sorry it was not good . I slowly started seeing customers leave around me because they had been waiting for their food for too long . It took me 1 hour to get steak nachos. The communication between the waiters , orders, and the kitchen is very poor, there is no flow. The servers are so stressed they don't check on customers. El Fogon 5 stars for food and drinks, but 1 star for service . La comida esta riquisima pero la espera de comida y el servicio necesita atencion! Thank you! I hope El Fogon finds a good flow and rhythm soon. I'll be back for the food , yum!

Except for slightly slow service to take your order, there's nothing to fuss about this place…read more Lively ambiance, delicious food. There's even some entrepreneurship going on with a gentleman coming over to ask if you want to buy a trinket, instead of flowers I suppose. I couldn't finish the food definitely enough for a dinner and lunch! I asked what they have for dessert: tres leches, tiramisu, flan. I pass on dessert this time although they sound good! Highly recommended, will definitely come back to try their plantains with either beef or chicken appetizer!

I…read moreattempted to visit a few weeks ago for dinner to try their Rotisserie chicken but unfortunately they were sold out so I recently returned again on a Friday during lunch for another attempt. When I entered I was greeted right away and was given a menu and I let them know I would like to place an order to go.  Service was great and the wait staff was very friendly and took my order immediately.  The dining room was very spacious with plenty of tables and they had bar seating available. While I waited for my food I decided to walk over to the bakery that was attached to the restaurant. The bakery sells a bunch of different Colombian/Spanish baked goods, snacks and frozen items. They also had a section setup similar to a gift shop that had purses, hats, clothing and souvenirs that you would mostly find if you were in Columbia which I found to be a nice and unique addition.  I ordered the half rotisserie chicken with coconut rice, fried cassava, and sugar cane juice with lime To-go. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed with the quality of my meal. My chicken lacked flavor and tasted as though it had been reheated rather than freshly prepared. The wing was so dry and dehydrated that it was inedible; only the leg and thigh were moist. Additionally, the coconut rice was significantly undercooked and excessively sweet, to the point that I could not eat it. The fried cassava was served in very large pieces that remained undercooked. The Sugar cane juice was a dark brown color and had a sour taste, suggesting it was not fresh.  Fresh sugarcane juice should be a greenish- yellow color and only turns brown after it oxidizes which changes the quality and is not what I expected.  I have heard great things about this restaurant and hope my experience is not the norm. While I am interested in other menu items, I am currently hesitant about when I might return.

We have two little ones, and they are always so gracious and accommodating. Second, the food is 10000000/10! Wow talk about flavor! Our family's favorite go-to's are the ground beef and cheese empanadas, the kids pabellon, and our ALL time favorite is the arepa llanera fried. WOW!!! So my picky toddler LOVES the food here! Their rice and beans are cooked to perfection and my son who doesn't eat a ton of meat, will eat the shredded beef here! Our favorite thing about the arepa is the sauce they put on the steak with the freshness of the cheese and creaminess of the avocado with the tomato. omg my mouth is watering as I'm typing! We seriously LOVE it here! Those are my recommendations!

So, let's find out how the visit went. There weren't a lot of people inside and there was only one waitress attending to tables. They have a bar area, tables and booths. We decided to eat near the entrance to their supermarket. It took a while for us to roam through the menu, but decided on what we wanted a few minutes after getting seates. I chose a 1/2 chicken with two sides (fried yucca and french fries). The Peruvian chicken was pretty good and flavorful. Both the fried yucca and fries could've been seasoned more, but were plentiful. I actually saved half of my meal for takeout and tasted well for dinner. Unfortunately, the bad part of our visit was the decor. The restaurant is located in a strip mall which has seen better days. Seats at the booth are torn up.....literally. The tables are outdated. The floor is in pretty bad shape, especially near the bar area. And in the bathroom, the paper towel dispenser was not connected to the wall and instead, laying on the floor. It's not comfortable washing your hands and then turning it sideways where you can get paper. I really don't mean to sound mean,, but the decor alone would turn folks away. It needs a big renovation all around. Hopefully, down the road, they can upgrade or they may become a thing of the past :(
