We have been here multiple times and really enjoy their food and their excellent service. I've…read morenever seen OKONOMIYAKI on a menu in a Japanese restaurant. Maybe I missed it but I'm pretty sure this is the first time I've seen it. They don't always have it so ask your waitress if they do before ordering. It is such a delicious rich and savory dish. It's filled with eggs, green onions, sometimes bacon, flour, cornstarch, corn, Dashie powder, reconstituted, and cabbage all mixed together into a thick batter that becomes a thick pancake. Browned on both sides. It's served with two or three different sauces- cutie mayonnaise, OKONOMIYAKI sauce, a sweet teriyaki thick sauce and topped with Bonita flakes. One pan cake is enough to serve two or three people as an appetizer. It's a treat. $8 Their Agedashi is excellent! I order this at every Japanese restaurant that I go to that has it on the menu. It is one of my very favorites. Here they have nice bite-size squares of firm tofu dipped in cornstarch and deep fried quickly just enough to make them piping hot and super crispy on the outside then served in a Dashie sauce topped with green onions and Bonita flakes. Because the tofu is so hot the Bonita flakes start to wave around and it's always been fascinating to watch this as we enjoy the dish itself. It's also a good dish to take to go because it's easy to reheat at home. $8.25. The crispy and crunchy combo tempura as an appetizer for $10 is also delicious in its simplicity and perfection. The Avo Mango Roll $ 9.95 has avocado, mango, nuts. It's light fruity and savory at the same time and the nuts are macadamia nuts, which add a really nice crunch to it. They have pages and pages of different sushi, sashimi and rolls. Some are simple some are very complex. It really depends on what your taste and what flavors you're looking for. Everything we've tried on several visits there have been fresh and outstanding. Their bento boxes $17-25 ($10 for kids bento) are huge. With miso soup salad rice your protein of choice ( the Katsu pork is outstanding and really holds up well to reheating at home). You also get tempura and a couple of pieces of roll with your bento box. My favorite however for just how beautiful it looks, and how light and delicious it is, is the Futo Maki $11.25 tamago, avocado, cucumber, gobo, shiitake, kampyo, oshinko. When you look at the roll itself, it's beautifully organized inside, very artistically arranged, and appealing to the eye. The first bite into it gives you a little bit of each ingredient and together they make for a very good imaginary trip to Japan. My only complaint about this restaurant is that it is so consistently good whether we eat in or have it delivered by DoorDash that we totally over order and end up with so much food! Lol. We always get a side serving of a large hot saki and a large Sapporo beer to wash it all down with. Add a wakame salad and we are good $5.50. Service is excellent and attentive. The place is very busy, but usually you're able to get a table fairly easily. Our tab is usually about $100 plus tip because we order so much!

The katsu was flavorful, and the rice was so fluffy and perfectly cooked. My son ordered the Simba Roll and Golden California Roll. The service was great and fast. We will definitely be back to try more of the menu.

He was very rude and did not want to help me what so ever and was not willing to explain the menu. I assume he was on drugs because he licking his lips and his eyes were weird... but 90$ for rude service and food wasn't tasty and honestly we didn't try it because we aren't sure what they were capable of on the food. Jim was also a worker there and was giving same attitude and honestly all I wanted was to try new food and to have good experience. I know should've ask for refund but I'm sure they need the money more than I do. I'm a server myself and I know restaurant industry standards and this was beyond unacceptable and unprofessional. I would give this a zero star. ( I already posted a photo of owner , but to accuse me on the influence of alcohol? Sorry Honey I don't drink at all or do nothing I'm a sober person ...so that being said you can't even compromise with your own customers (with me) with bad experience ... I wish but nothing good in your life .. since clearly you need it honey .. Goodluck .. btw this doesn't look good on your end.

The rolls are delicious, the miso soup is flavorful, and the salad is always crisp with the most tasty salad dressing. I also tied the tempura and it's perfectly crispy and crunchy! Everything tastes fresh every time! The staff is friendly, attentive, and the food comes out quickly. The vibe is low key with low lit lighting and dark decor. My go to items are the mango bomb, crunch roll, teriyaki roll, veggie tempura, and veggie tempura roll. I like to mix things up and order the salmon teriyaki lunch box. Overall, the sushi is tasty, they have generous portions, fast service, and consistently great food. I will continue coming back!

The portion sizes are huge, and the value for the price is hard to beat. I lived in Seattle for a large part of my life, where teriyaki is everywhere, and I've spent years trying to find something that comes close. This restaurant is about as close as I've found. The chicken is flavorful, the sauce is just right, and it really satisfies that Seattle-style teriyaki craving. It's also served with miso soup, that I generally don't eat. It's a bit salty for my taste. The restaurant is usually pretty busy, which is always a good sign, but it's also consistently clean and well maintained. The servers are friendly and welcoming every time I've been in. They're not overly attentive, but if you need something, it's easy enough to get their attention and they're happy to help. Between the generous portions, fair prices, good food, and friendly service, this has become one of my favorite lunch spots. I'll definitely keep coming back

The prices were right in line with what you'd expect for a hibachi restaurant, so we felt we got great value for the money. I also appreciated that they serve drinks in large soda cups--a small touch, but one I really liked. The service was friendly, attentive, and genuinely polite from start to finish. Our hibachi chef was funny, engaging, and did a great job with both the cooking and the entertainment. He made our anniversary dinner even more enjoyable. The only thing that surprised me was how empty the restaurant was. After our experience, I honestly think they deserve more business. If you're looking for good hibachi in Salinas with generous portions, solid prices, and excellent service, I'd definitely recommend giving Fujiyama a try. We'll absolutely be back!

The restaurant has a great drink selection and a great menu. We were pleasantly surprised to learn they offer a Tuesday dinner special that includes an appetizer, entrée, and dessert for only $32! This menu also had a special drink selection. I ordered the house salad, prawn risotto, and chocolate lava cake. The salad was very fresh with spring mix and butter lettuce, which I especially enjoy, and it was topped with a light vinaigrette style house dressing that was light and delicious. The prawn risotto was creamy, flavorful, and the shrimp were cooked perfectly. The chocolate lava cake was rich and very chocolatey, a bit too rich for my personal taste, but still enjoyable. It also came with vanilla gelato, which was delicious. As a table, we also ordered the tableside tiramisu, which was such a fun and unique experience. I am a tiramisu connoisseur, so anytime I see it on the menu, I ordered it. It is my favorite dessert. Although this was not my favorite one, I very much enjoyed the experience. I will mention the espresso needs a little more time to fully soak into the ladyfingers, but the presentation and experience alone made it worth trying. The ambiance was lovely with nice background music, and the service was attentive and welcoming. Everyone in our party truly enjoyed their meal, especially the birthday girl.
