I tried this place a few year back and had a really great burrito. Next time I went it wasn't so good. So that kind of turned me off and I didn't try it for years. But b/c of circumstances I went here again and dined in. (It's rather small so I wouldn't really recommend dining in for larger crowds.) I received complimentary Chips and Salsa, they're ok but they're FREE. Chips warm Salsa ok can't complain. I went for the steak taco dinner 3 tacos on corn (don't know if they do flour, they didn't ask and i didn't either) comes with rice and beans. Got grilled onions and lettuce on my taco. Great tacos and burritos here. The place is small and quaint. The chips are good and the guacamole and salsa is fair. It seem like you should order at a counter, but someone will come and bring you a menu. Then when you are all done, you have to go up to the server at the register to pay, oddly enough instead of the server just bringing the bill. The tacos were authentic, tasty and as good as any other place in the area. The burrito was bigger and loaded with more meat than some of the other local restaurants. read more

Nice little neighborhood Taqueria in Westmont near 63rd and Williams (east of the Harvest breakfast place). The food is good, services is friendly and helpful, and the prices are about right. We arrived just before the Friday dinner rush and were promptly greeted by our server who gave us some chips and two salsas (one red and one green). Both had some heat - especially the red. When my dad struggled a bit with them, the server brought over a bowl of mild salsa. Very thoughtful... I decided to get a carne asada gordita, and two tacos (lengua and cabeza - tongue and cow head). The tacos were tasty, especially the lengua, though they were a bit sparsely filled compared to some of the tacos I've had in the area. The gordita, at $2.99, represented a good value - nicely filled. I'm looking forward to trying the sopes, huaraches, tostadas and tortas in future visits. I used to come regularly to Taqueria el Pulpo which used to be at this location. I think the food is comparable at this incarnation - quite good. Our server was fantastic - she took the time to answer multiple questions about the food despite covering all of the tables by herself. If you liked Taqueria el Pulpo, you'll definitely like Taqueria El Ranchito. If you didn't get a chance to try el Pulpo, now's your chance to check out the new place. read more

I've been here twice and it's fantastic to find some authentic flavors in the land of suburbia. Their vegetarian options revolve around black beans, rice, cheese and avocado, but the torta, taco, and quesadilla I tried were all delicious. Their horchata is so creamy and delicious. Also, when I have ordered to go and to eat in the service has been very friendly and prompt. Chips and salsa appear to come free with your meal, whether you eat in or not. Also, food comes out very quickly. This does not feel like a run-of-the-mill Mexican place. Just walking in you get the vibe that it's a restaurant that people take a lot of pride in. Awful service - ordered two steak burritos and guacamole. Don't assume the guacamole comes with chips. My mistake and apparently when I spoke to the "manager", he said they receive a lot of complaints about that and haven't been able to clarify that on the menu. Is that my fault? Been here twice for to-go orders. I got an Al pastor torta and a chorizo burrito. The flavors were great for both items but I did think that the bread for the torta could have been toasted a bit more to make it a little less mushy as I was eating it and the burrito was packed with rice and not as much chorizo or other ingredients. The bill was way over what it should be after I computed but I won't fight for 3 dollars extra. Then when we pay, they said there's $2 charge for using credit card. Went there before a football game, service was fast, staff was nice, food was AMAZING! I got the beef chimichanga with a large horchata, and it was all great! The smallish interior hardly reflects the big flavor of their freshly-prepared tacos and burritos, which are the only menu items I've had the pleasure of sampling, so far. The fact that this quaint restaurant is located in the same little shopping center as my favorite laundromat is a bonus, since I can grab a great lunch while doing a few loads of laundry, which is definitely a "WIN-WIN". Not worth it. Horrible service with food to match. Our pickup order was about $80 not including the nice tip that was left. Part of the order was missing and when we called about the food and missing items, they kept acting as if they couldn't hear or understand me.
