    Lunch fajita, chicken and steak

I was so impressed with El Cabo. The service was great and the food came out hot and fresh. Everything on my plate was cooked very well. Nice portion for the price too. I'm looking forward to eating there again one day.

Haven't been here since we moved back, made a quick lunch run. Not accustomed to having meat on my chili relleno - will ask for that to be removed next time. However, salsa was very good and tasted as though they had made it. Too many Mexican Restaurants in our area have salsa that taste like its bought in bulk from Sams Club. Everything tasted fresher here.

The food here tastes great. However, if you live around town and order takeout like we do a few times a week and ask for chips and salsa at lunch. You will ALWAYS receive a 2.5 inch cup that is filled with a tiny bit of salsa and a handful of chips. I have never understood this. If you go into the restaurant to eat, you can get a bowl full! I have asked several times when placing my order over the phone for a whole cup full since I'm paying the same amount at takeout but this is what I always get. Too bad. I wish I could talk to the owner. The food really is great though. I'll be going elsewhere.

My wife and I came in for a date night, and enjoyed the homey atmosphere. This place is packed into an old house, and room is limited. But the food speaks volumes. Real, home-made beans are rare, but these are and, they taste great, Same with the rice. My wife ordered a verde grilled carnitas burrito. It has some cactus in it as well as the pork and other stuff. It was absolutely huge, and she could only eat half. It was also super tasty. I did try it and agree. I had 3 tacos: al pastor, carnita, and steak. They came with the normal onion and cilantro. The tacos were the best I've had in a while. I love the flat-top fried tortillas. We did have chips and ordered a queso with them, both were good. There was a orange/red hot sauce in a little bowl that was pretty good, but not very hot. The were some hot sauces in bottles: a green that could have been tomatillo or some mix, slightly spicy. A red, a touch spicier. Good stuff all around. As far as I can tell there were just three people running the place. The cook, who was just 5 feet from us, in a groove and doing his thing. El hefe, doing various stuff, and a woman who ran orders, took payments, etc. Surprisingly, despite how busy they were, the place ran well and there were no long waits. They have gorditas and tamales on the menu, both which tend to be delicious and not the most common. I plan to come back for sure so I can try other items.

We were part of a larger party of couples, approximately 12-14 people in total. Space was reserved in advance on the covered patio which was ready early for the party and the staff was happy to seat us and get drinks started. Overall the restaurant was very clean as well as the restrooms. The reason for 3-stars is I rate Mexican restaurants on three main dishes which should always be outstanding; Al Pastor, Carnitas, and sizzling Fajitas. If there is a failure with any ONE of these menu items the highest rating I can give is 3-stars! For starters the salsa was bland no taste, no hint of cilantro or spice. Some previous reviews mentioned the chips were thin, I didn't find that to be the case during my visit. They were fresh and warm. The fajitas were great, probably some of the best we've had in years. They were well seasoned and the steak & chicken was very tender. The veggies still had some crunch and weren't overcooked. However, there was no guacamole and a small squirt of sour cream. The rice didn't have any flavor on it, no salt..nothing!, But the beans were nicely seasoned and we were glad the beans didn't have cheese on them. However, we had to request the flour tortillas several times. The Carnitas were tender but had absolutely no flavor or seasoning whatsoever. They were just chunks of fried pork tips in grease, probably fried in vegetable oil not the traditional lard and obviously not with sour orange and seasonings. There wasn't a grilled jalapeño or even any pico de gallo on the side, they were very disappointing. We couldn't find Al Pastor anywhere on the menu. And speaking of the menu it was very large with way too many items. You can't possibly do all of these items justice. I recommend they scale the menu down and do a superb job on the customer "favorites" while offering seasonal items for a limited time.
