The food here was amazing. My friends and I really enjoyed coming here. There is a retro diner feel to the place (mostly because it is indeed, an old diner basically lol.) I love that they have maintained the place and it's decor. Dawsonville Pool Room is a real gem. Our servers were courteous. My only complaint is that the food took quite a while to come out, like over 30 mins, but honestly I'm willing to overlook that because the bully burger and fries that I ordered tasted amazing. I also understand that we are in a small town and things may move a bit slower. It's locally owned and the food is cooked to order, so it's not going to pop out in 5 mins. Prices are great. You get a lot of value for your money here. You gotta order the bully burger and the fresh cut fries if you come (they don't really salt them though so be prepared to add some salt to the fries.) They have really mastered the act of putting coleslaw on a burger. Please keep in mind that if you look at my pictures, the coleslaw/mustard/ketchup is on the bottom of the burger so you can't see it well from my angle. Just a good old-fashioned place! Lots of racing history lining the walls in the hometown of the racing Elliott family. We both ordered hotdogs and they were really good, as was the service. We will go back again! read more

When visiting the Dawsonville Pool Room, try to keep in mind that this isn't a restaurant, it is a slice of Americana that every motor racing fan should visit at least once. Service is very good to excellent. I was a bit surprised that they only serve soft drinks. Just go- and go with an open mind to enjoy all that is good there. read more

My husband and I finally had a chance to stop in for lunch at the Pool Room today. We enjoyed it! I had the Bully Burger Special and it was served hot and cooked to order with fresh cut fries. My hubby also had a burger but ordered the Beer battered fries that were great as well. Served with cokes poured over "good" ice. Any race fan would enjoy the atmosphere. In some places you wonder if these walls could talk...at The Pool Room the walls do talk with every square inch covered in photos and newspaper clippings of a rich history of racing. We even grabbed a t-shirt. The Dawsonville Pool Room is more than a meal. It is an experience. Enjoy. read more

It's an Institution. Cool local hangout with reasonably priced, good food and service. Don't be put off by the name, although there is one pool table, it is not a bar or traditional "pool room". More than likely there will be a couple of patrons kids playing pool, if anyone at all. Burgers, phillies, chop steak, sandwiches, it's all good. I like the Bully Burger Special (it comes with slaw on the burger). We eat here about once a week. A must visit for Nascar fans. The place is covered with newspaper articles and memorabilia connected to local Nascar legends. read more

This place is a huge disappointment!! Dawsonville Pool Room is apparently owned by Bill Elliott the NASCAR driver. Upon entering you are greeted with NASCAR memorabilia splattered all over the walls and a 50s vibe diner of chairs and counter with barstools. However after about 30 seconds standing waiting for a table you realize how run down the place is and how abnormally warm it is for a restaurant. The menu is basic from burgers to fries and corn dogs to hotdogs and the like. The kid's menu is none better. I was seated at a table where I could see the grill and fryer being operated during lunch. I noticed that everything going into the fryer was coming out of jars or bags. Well they say they have fresh cut fries on the menu all I could see was bags of fries being dumped in the fryer so then be sitting in a basket underneath a heat lamp. My husband ordered the chicken tenders my daughter the kid's corn nuggets, and my son the kid hamburger. When it all came out it was so underwhelming. The fries were soggy and burnt at the same time and my sons hamburger tasted like a soy burger from grade school. It was utterly disgusting. Service was no better as we only got our drinks and no refills nor would we be asked if we needed anything else during our time at the restaurant.It was even a fight to ask for additional mayonnaise or condiments. Everyone there really seems to enjoy themselves and enjoy the NASCAR memorabilia but the food did not live up to the hype. This would've been a great place to eat after visiting the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame, but I beg you to just pass and maybe even go to the local Dairy Queen or Bojangles for a burger or chicken tenders, just down the street. read more

Love this place a real dive for sure old school dive bar. Had the Special for the day, which I choose meatloaf, mashed potatoes and green Beans with a roll. The meatloaf was wonderful, juicy and moist all the way through. Plenty of onions in the meat and the gravy was perfect. Mashed potatoes were great and so were the green beans. Everything was smothered with brown gravy to sop up later . Love to have green beans when I am out eating just love the way they make them in the south. Get there early to find a seat fills up quickly for lunch that is for sure. Plenty of NASCAR history and trophies all over the place have a special Daytona room off to the side. Next time in will have to try the Bully Burger that is what they are famous for. Keep up the great work thank you read more

So this is the iconic place featured on NASCAR race shows as the hot spot to watch races because it is the home town of both Bill and Chase Elliot. Well, it was a bit disappointing. A sheriff deputy recommended the Bully Burger, so I tried one. It was unimpressive. It was just a slow arriving burger served on a bed of cole slaw. really? Yawn. I was there on race day and expected an energetic watch party that never happened. The locals seemed to be disinterested in the race. I guess there is only energy when national TV cameras are there. read more

I was in Georgia today with my wife and daughter doing some business and the wife being a big Chase Elliott fan I decided to take her to the Pool Room and have lunch. As we walked in it looked like an old small diner from the 40's and 50's. The waitress greeted us and told us to sit anywhere we would like. We choose a table in the back room due to some kids playing with the Pool table in the front room. The menu is short and simple which it should be for a small diner. I ordered the Bully Burger off of a recommendation of a customer that we met and spoke to in the parking lot. The wife ordered the same along with fries and a sweet tea and my daughter ordered the chicken strips and fries. Now the food is made to order so expect to wait for it to be made and cooked and expect to wait longer if it's busy. We got lucky and it wasn't busy, but still had a short wait for the food. As we waited we spoke to the waitress who we found out is the granddaughter of the owner of the Pool Room and also family to the Elliott's. The Burgers are nothing special with meat, cheese, lettuce and two pickles on the side. Its the experience of being at the Pool Room and possibly seeing Bill or Chase come in or the fact that this is the hometown of two NASCAR champions and a NASCAR Legend. The is some memorabilia on the walls, and an old NASCAR outside, but I would have liked to have seen more on the walls. Having more pictures of Bill, Chase and the old timers that ran Moonshine back in the day where NASCAR started would have added to our experience and made it even better. They keep it simple when it come to the food which is great. I was just expecting more memorabilia. Oh and if you get the Bully Burger put the Ranch on it. I give 2 stars instead of one because the food was acceptable. Took well over an hour to get food. Maybe they were short staffed, but the waitress took our order and brought our food. Never checked on us. None of the workers wore masks. The one bathroom was full when a little old lady got sick and had to puke into a cup. Also the one bathroom had no lock. We had to stand at the door for one another since it wouldn't lock. read more

Called before arriving to see if they were pet friendly. Was told by woman on the phone as long as he wouldn't be barking and bothering people it would be fine. We have a 6 pound chihuahua that was in a shoulder carrier and never made a peep. Our waitress was very cordial and good. My wife overheard other waitresses making rude comments about the dog being there. I have been an Elliott fan for many years. This was our first visit to the Pool Room as we live in New York State. Food was ok. Just wish everyone was on the same page about pets. Had I been told on the phone that pets were not allowed, we would not of brought him in. read more
