When visiting the Dawsonville Pool Room, try to keep in mind that this isn't a restaurant, it is a slice of Americana that every motor racing fan should visit at least once. Service is very good to excellent. I was a bit surprised that they only serve soft drinks. Just go- and go with an open mind to enjoy all that is good there.

Really enjoyed our burgers and the home cut fries were excellent. Service was very friendly, and we were well taken care of beginning to end. My only issue with the place was the cleanliness, in particular the floors and the bathroom. Not good. Cheers! RS

I ordered a chef salad and my husband ordered a burger. He was delighted that the burger was not a frozen patty. My salad crisp and fresh. The service was spot on. The place overall is old but clean.

My husband and I finally had a chance to stop in for lunch at the Pool Room today. We enjoyed it! I had the Bully Burger Special and it was served hot and cooked to order with fresh cut fries. My hubby also had a burger but ordered the Beer battered fries that were great as well. Served with cokes poured over "good" ice. Any race fan would enjoy the atmosphere. In some places you wonder if these walls could talk...at The Pool Room the walls do talk with every square inch covered in photos and newspaper clippings of a rich history of racing. We even grabbed a t-shirt. The Dawsonville Pool Room is more than a meal. It is an experience. Enjoy.

It's an Institution. Cool local hangout with reasonably priced, good food and service. Don't be put off by the name, although there is one pool table, it is not a bar or traditional "pool room". More than likely there will be a couple of patrons kids playing pool, if anyone at all. Burgers, phillies, chop steak, sandwiches, it's all good. I like the Bully Burger Special (it comes with slaw on the burger). We eat here about once a week. A must visit for Nascar fans. The place is covered with newspaper articles and memorabilia connected to local Nascar legends.

This place is a huge disappointment!! Dawsonville Pool Room is apparently owned by Bill Elliott the NASCAR driver. Upon entering you are greeted with NASCAR memorabilia splattered all over the walls and a 50s vibe diner of chairs and counter with barstools. However after about 30 seconds standing waiting for a table you realize how run down the place is and how abnormally warm it is for a restaurant. The menu is basic from burgers to fries and corn dogs to hotdogs and the like. The kid's menu is none better. I was seated at a table where I could see the grill and fryer being operated during lunch. I noticed that everything going into the fryer was coming out of jars or bags. Well they say they have fresh cut fries on the menu all I could see was bags of fries being dumped in the fryer so then be sitting in a basket underneath a heat lamp. My husband ordered the chicken tenders my daughter the kid's corn nuggets, and my son the kid hamburger. When it all came out it was so underwhelming. The fries were soggy and burnt at the same time and my sons hamburger tasted like a soy burger from grade school. It was utterly disgusting. Service was no better as we only got our drinks and no refills nor would we be asked if we needed anything else during our time at the restaurant. It was even a fight to ask for additional mayonnaise or condiments. Everyone there really seems to enjoy themselves and enjoy the NASCAR memorabilia but the food did not live up to the hype. This would've been a great place to eat after visiting the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame, but I beg you to just pass and maybe even go to the local Dairy Queen or Bojangles for a burger or chicken tenders, just down the street.

    A little smash...

Sound the Si-Reen! ....It's Bully Burger time and them Fries ya'll!! Love the Pool Room! Good Food equals Good Mood. There is more Awesome than Bill Elliott from Dawsonville but you can read all about him too as the Pool Room walls tell his story. Not forgetting Chase either! #legendsarebornhere

Best burger ever! Literally melted in our mouths! Get the beer batter fries! The best! Just missed Bill Elliott, but newspaper clippings everywhere and you can listen to the locals talk about Nascar and Chase!

Food was good and fairly priced. I give 4 stars because it seems they need more staff and it was dirty inside. Needs a good deep cleaning.

Stopped by yesterday just to say I've been there (because I'm a huge Chase Elliot fan!). The burger and fresh cut fries were among the best I've had in many years! Will definitely be back for great food, amazing service and wonderful history throughout!

We came for their Easter brunch and had a delightful time! Our server, Joshua, was wonderful and all the staff seemed to be enjoying their day as well. The chef was closely monitoring every station to be sure each dish was replenished quickly, and the omelette and carving stations were staffed by very cheerful employees, which made the day all the more festive because of it! And the food . . . So good! None of the usual tasteless buffet food found in many other restaurants, this was truly delicious . We began with a field green salad with croutons and a nice charcuterie board with yummy prosciutto, black olives, cornichon, goat cheese, and fresh buffalo mozzarella. Steamed shrimp with tasty cocktail sauce and incredibly delicious smoked salmon, complete with tangy capers. There were two soup choices and we had the corn and crab bisque. . . delicious as well! Lunch offerings included mashed potatoes, Mac and cheese, and fresh steamed green beans and carrots. Next were the protein choices, which included lemon salmon, a gorgeous prime rib with horseradish sauce, and baked ham. To round out breakfast, there was an omelette station ( delicious) and eggs Benedict. Finally, a groaning dessert table with carrot cake, delightfully tangy key lime pie, coconut cake, chocolate torte, and red velvet cake. This was one of the nicest holiday buffets we've ever attended. It was busy but not crowded (so nice they took reservations) like so many Atlanta restaurants tend to be. The view is unmatched and the service and general atmosphere are top notch. We plan to be back for Mother's Day!

(I forgot to ask for it once, and the waitress rolled her eyes when she had to go back to the kitchen for something she should've asked about in the first place). A friend swears by the beef liver with onions, also. But the sides and desserts could use a little work. The side salad is nothing special (and they bring it with the rest of your meal). The mac 'n' cheese is soupy stuff people make with a mix. The desserts also seem to be short-cut things using mixes: I couldn't even eat the piece of cake I had last time; after one taste, the bitter fake icing completely turned me off. The cobblers taste like they use canned fruit fillings. And the bread pudding had a sickly sweet canned sauce poured over it; it was inedible. I don't expect gourmet meals from a "home cooking" restaurant, but I do expect the food to be a step above being poured out of a can or made with a mix. Also, just a note: it's rude to ask the person at the table who gets dessert free what they want and ignore the other people at the table. You could at least say, "Dessert doesn't come with your meal, but would you like to order a dessert?" The good sides here, again, are the fried things: fried okra, fried green tomatoes, etc. I suppose these are the things that keep me coming back and keep my rating of this restaurant at a 4. Most of the servers are great as well. Despite my criticism of some of the sides and the desserts, it's still one of my favorite places to eat in Dawsonville.

The only problems were: -Patrons packed into every available inch. Our row of chairs was touching the backs of the chairs behind us. No room to adjust seating. -No room to store coats and packages except keep them in our laps or try to put on floor (not a good choice) -Heavy traffic all around us. Definitely not an intimate setting but great if one didn't want to communicate with their guest. -EXTREAMLY NOISY!!!! Couldn't even converse with those at my table -Food was delicious and seemed authentic. Served rapidly. Was not able to enjoy cocktail because meal arrived so quickly. -Female server was very fast with refills, take home boxes, and our check. She appeared tired! -Very little waiting space at the front area. Probably won't be a problem in warmer weather and wait outside. -Would have been nice to have a menu while waiting to decide on drinks and food choices. -Menus large in size and hard to juggle i0n a large party Will probably go back due to quality of food. Will not go on a peak eating time. -No room for wheelchairs and maneuvering hard due to crowd. Plenty of parking because restaurant was upside mall area.

We had our 12 lb bundle of puppy joy with us so to the back deck we went. I think Dakotah was the only server on the main floor, both inside and out because it took a long time. Long time for water. He was busy even though the restaurant wasn't full. Poor guy. My hubby ordered the muffaletta and wasn't impressed. He ate it though. He loved his Abita root beer. I decided to order from the side menu and I'm so happy I did. The andouille sausage was grilled and tasty. The maque choux was amazing. Think Mexican corn with a Louisiana twist. Perfection!! The loaded grits were also wonderful- chocked full of gouda, bacon, and green onions. Delicious! The gumbo was thick like a stew. The flavor was smoky and sublime. My only beef is instead of all gumbo, the cup was filled mostly with rice... topped with gumbo. Overall we enjoyed our dinner. However, due to the pace of things, the underwhelming sandwich and perception of getting shorted on the chicken and gumbo. I wouldn't hesitate to swing by and order a maque choux to go as a snack except they charge $1 for the to-go container.
