The food is sooooo good not to mention the pupusa to go special they have on Wednesdays and the fresh juices they make. They have one cashier that does everything and is hustling and a cook in the back. The have seating inside the restaurant and it gives you a nice vibe to sit down and drink a cup of coffee with sweet bread that they also make fresh. Absolutely love it. read more

It's a decent place. I like several things off their menu, their pupusas are good, their Canoas and empanadas are very good. I always take my food to go since I live close and the place is very small with only like 4 tables. No one's ever offered to feed me a canoe! So imagine my surprise when it's just one of the normal items on the menu. I was shocked. I was amazed. So I had to order it. Turns out it's a fried banana, sliced in half and filled with Salvadoran cream and topped with raisins. Pretty tasty. Perfect hint of cinnamon and bread stays soft for daysss without hardening (note to self every time I try to not go HAM on like 10 in one sitting! No need to rush now-they will still be just as scrumptious as the first day! Most places use a lot of the flour dough and very little of the stuffing, not this place they put a lot of the stuffing, they taste amazing and they are not dripping with grease. I was recommended this bakery for their pupusas and I was not disappointed! They also offer $1 pupusas on Wednesday's with a reasonable minimum order of 3. What's funny is that a nurse I work in Santa Monica with mentioned her son moved to Van Nuys and has also found El Carbonero to be his go to pupuseria. She's spread the word to the rest of our staff who has since requested I order in bulk for special occasions at work. That being said, their customer service is always pleasant and they have accommodated me in Those orders and in all my requests with no question. I recommend this place to everyone! I just to go every day and have a pupusa and coffee, for diet reason I keep it to coffee on the way to work and only have it once and a while or when Im hungover I live across the street so when I have friend spend the night I take them here. You can ask them to make a combination of things like beans, veggies and cheese or single items! Its pretty much the reason why I go here! Didn't take too long at all for them to make my order either! I was in town for the first time and my friend took me here! I had her order in Spanish for me, lol! I also tried their smoothies!! I've never seen such a huuuuge machine to juice your veggies and fruits, but it worked like magic. The smoothies left a grain in the drink that made it obvious it was very natural and fresh! I stopped by to get a traditional Salvadorian breakfast it was delicious and very reasonably priced. I had my breakfast with a fresh vegetable and fruit juice (vampiro) I loved it not many restaurants make you a fresh made to order juice.
