Mr Garcia is so talented, so nice and so fast! First time I came in, needed pants hemmed for a wedding. He further done overnight. Second time, I needed an heirloom coat tailored. He made me look like a movie star in this thing. I have gone several times for pant hems, coat sleeves and even my wife's dresses have all been expertly and wonderfully worked on here. Most recently my mom needed a dress altered for a wedding out of town. She had like 36 hrs before her plane left and Mr Garcia had the dress ready overnight and looking absolutely amazing. She took every one of my requests and concerns very seriously and worked tirelessly to leave me feeling totally comfortable and confident! My dress is completely covered in beading and very heavy as a result which added to the challenge. She hemmed (which, because of the beading, involved hammering one bead at a time), moved and shortened straps (multiple times until I was 100% happy), added four bustles (first adding two, and then designing strategic and beautiful placement of two more), and painstakingly hand-stitched (while squatting on the floor for two hours) around the hem to "glue" many inner layers together (to keep me from tripping on inner layers of tulle). She also tailored a silk shawl cover-up and made a beautiful scarf out of the excess silk. In the middle of all that work, I also came to her with a new need to somehow make the dress a lot more modest - I couldn't find anything that would work with my dress from bridal shops - so she designed and made two mesh long sleeve tops to wear under my dress. She made sure the beauty of my dress would not be compromised by the cover-up! By then I had very little time to make it downtown, so I took my own measurements and texted them to her, and the shirts still magically turned out perfect. I am someone that avoids downtown as much as possible, but I'll be making the pilgrimage a lot more often now to entrust the rest of my wardrobe to Sofia. Thank you Costura Lab!!!
