We came in to find something for my son's baptism. They had everything we needed from the hat to the shoes. Everything was a good price. We came in with the intentions of renting but they don't offer anything for him. The difference from the renting to buying wasn't that much of a difference anyways. My husband and I recently rented trajes charros here for our annual Christmas card and we couldn't be more pleased with the service and value we received. Included in the cost of our rental were the pants, belt, hat, and jacket, along with any necessary alterations. The rental was not cheap, BUT it was quality and high-value. At pick-up the entire package was wrapped and nicely hung. I would HIGHLY recommend this gem in the Boyle Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles. First the owner and his wife made us feel completely welcomed and went into great detail to let us know what our options were . We also got to know a bit of mariachi history and customs that he happily shared with us . They measured our son and are getting his suit ready for his 15th Birthday. This place was recommended to me by my co-worker. The only reason I don't give a then 5 stars, it's because it was beyond hot when I visit them. Please keep in mind that this place it's a small owned business. With that being said; please go as early as possible. I visit them when it was about 100 degree wether. Please keep in mind that it gets super busy and that it's a very small place. Other than that. The customer service was great. They gave us the attention we needed and answer all our questions. Most people come with 100 questions that can take about 30 min consult. Which can cause other customers to be inpatient and get mad of all the attention you're getting. I hate to give Jorge a bad review but I have no choice. For over 3 years and after 4 suits and more than a thousand dollars I still don't have a suit I'm proud to wear. Every single time the fit has been so off that I have to keep coming back or bring the parts back to fix. He doesn't know what the hell he's doing or pays someone else to do his work. Go there if you want a low quality suit that doesn't fit you like it should. All my suits make me look like I have tits. And I'm a pretty fit guy. Wrinkles up everywhere. The shoulders are so ugly that they look like horns. I got an "embroidery" outline on my pockets and when I received the suit it was cheap-ass machine thread stitching. This is a joke. I tried fixing them somewhere else and I was told they are so badly made they cannot be fixed to fit properly. Go to El Charrito if you're serious on getting a good Charro suit that actually fits. read more

I don't like this place, I only use it for emergencies. They wanted to charge me $300 for a mariachi skirt!! and $90 for cheap low quality botonadura or $140 for medium quality, I went down the street to El Charrito , next to the 7 mares and got a much better beal on botonadura, $120 for medium quality and my skirt for $140 from Carmela in Claremont who makes nice trajes, she is very down to earth and personable, Jorge is kind of an *ss, not very helpful, I needed to rent a white traje on emergency for same day and they wouldn't help at all, they said they rent for 8 days and its $100 bucks and they don't do same day rentals. If I'm to trust any tailor to make me a great quality traje de charro, it would have to be Jorge Tello of La Casa del Mariachi. I have been going to him for years to either make a new traje or to make the needed alterations and repairs on the one I currently have. Make sure you go to this place with a group, you will get a great deal (Don't ask me why, but I learned it's cheaper that way). The building itself is pretty old so just keep that in mind that it does get pretty hot in there during the summer because their air conditioner always seems to blow out. Señor Tello is the best of the best when it comes to making quality trajes and I encourage every mariachi to get trajes from him. read more

This place doesn't deserve the star, but I have no choice. I came in here about 2 months ago to special order my ring bearers charro suits. They gave me a card and asked that I call at the end of August beginning September because they would have a new order. I called the first week of September & asked specifically if they had black & silver button child suits in. The lady that answered (owner/co owner) said they were in. Perfect. I came in on sept. 6 to pick up the suits. After standing in there for 20 minutes. Not once did I get acknowledged. I proceeded to ask the person in charge, Store was busy & the same lady (owner/ co-owner) said she had them but to wait while she finished helping her customers. I waited 1 hour before I asked again only so she can give me attitude & say she only had white. I said I just asked you 1 hour ago for black & you didn't say that to me. She rudely walked away from me & gave me a stink eye. Seriously!? I can take my $1000 elsewhere & so should you. Don't waste your time!! read more
