We've been going to The Tailor Shop for some time now, and have consistently received great service. JJ has had many pairs of pants hemmed here. They charge $8 and do a great job. Service is very friendly and personable. There is a dressing room where the tailor can measure exactly how much needs to be hemmed. The turn around time for basic pants hemming is quite long, more than 7 days. I had gone in before the estimated date on my ticket slip and was told it was in queue to get completed the next day. So basically my pants were sitting on a rack for a week+. My pants had a split seam on the side and I had just wanted them hemmed straight across because I am quite short. The tailor hemmed and created a split hem so my hemming for a pair of pants cost $18. I felt that was pretty hefty of a price to shorten pants. There wasn't a question on what kind of hemming so that was a bit frustrating. Unfortunately I don't think I'll be coming back. There are other alterations shops who do a similar job for a much more reasonable price. I wanted to continue coming to this establishment but the time frames are just too long for the work required. read more

They are small and busy so try to give them as much lead time as possible but they are always willing to work with you. They are cash only. We needed 4 pairs of Chinos for my husband to be hemmed, they did a fantastic job. We asked for nseam of 25" and we got it straight on the mark. It was perfect and the tailoring was done beautifully. I needed a pair of shorts shortened. It was seven dollars. They had me try on the shorts and measured the length. I forgot my wallet, but they gave me a ticket and told me to be back in a week. I came back, picked up my shorts, paid seven dollars, and that was that!! Five stars for a reliable local tailor!!! read more

I love love this tailor! Not only are they accommodating when I've been in a bind for time (two years in a row as a maid of honor and now a bridesmaid again) but they do the best ironing work I've ever seen. In March I had a destination wedding and had to carry my dress in my carry on bag. I anticipated re-ironing but they steamed and ironed it so well it was flawless and sustained the plane ride. Uh what's with all the great reviews? This is a small mom and pop shop. Do not expect stellar customer service. They do not speak English well, so if you are Spanish speaking then your better off. Brought in some pants to get hemmed $7, they told me it would take a week! I came back and they weren't even done yet. Fortunately the guy did it on the spot but that left me thinking I will not come back. There's a dry cleaners that's literally two doors down that can hem for the same price with faster turn around time. I would not recommend this tailor. I CANNOT believe the audacity of the owner (Liz) of this establishment! I received the WORST customer service ever! DO NOT GO HERE! She charged me way more than what she initially said, did not finish on the date agreed to, and when I tried to complain to her about the work being done, her response was, "If you have a problem, you can take me to court." She was absolutely rude to me both in person and over the phone. Their hours are not what are stated on the front door. I cannot believe how she spoke to me. I am utterly disgusted. I cannot stress it enough - do NOT go here. The jobs done are not even acceptable. I really hate to disparage a small "mom and pop" operation but I must warn folks not to waste their time here. So disappointed. I really did want to support this small, local business. But they make it impossible. I needed my one of the Girl Scout's patch taken off and re-sewn on my daughter's vest. One patch! I was told it would take a week--Even though I think it could've been done same day. Ok, I get you're busy. So fine. I will be patient and wait a week. Frankly, I could've have done it myself but wanted to patronize a small biz and free up my time. One week later I go in to pick up the vest as promised. Nothing had been done. Although the store attempted to remedy this by offering to do it on the spot and told me it would only take 10 minutes. I refused because I had had it and was not going to give them my business. It this could've been done in 10 minutes, why tell me it would take a week??? Wasted my time driving there and going back with the service promised NOT done. Unacceptable! They lost out on all my future business. I usually need my work suits and trousers hemmed and take in. So I will be taking my patronage elsewhere! read more

My favorite spot to get anything I need tailored! I have been using their service for over 12 years. They have been family owned for over 25 years. When you enter, you will meet a master tailor named: Cesar. He is a professional at his craft. I always give him the warm greeting, "Que Onda, Perro?!?" and give him the love of a strong Homie handshake. Much love. If you request (for all you fancy designer jeans wearers out there) then he will give you what he calls "original hem." That means he will use the exact same stitching that was used from the original factory on your newly tailored seams. How does he do it?? Where does he get the original thread from?? I dunno. I just leave it a mystery. Since he is overwhelmed with customers, he will typically take 5 days to finish your jeans or shirt. But if you have an important event to attend sooner, he will gladly put you on top of the priority list and get it done within 2-3 days. Just make sure you tip Cesar GENEROUSLY! Cesar is not the owner, and he is not about $$$. He is about pride and customer satisfaction. The perfect example of a honest hard-working employee that any business owner desires. One time, I brought in a jacket to get tailored, and out of respect and humbleness, he refused the job because he told me: 'Lance, I honestly would not be able to do the best that I can on your jacket because I don't think it will look good, and I don't want to make you unhappy.' The Tailor Shop is a lifesaver! I bought a blazer online that happened to be the last one on sale. I absolutely had to have this blazer for a wedding I was attending, so I bought it at the only size available...54 Big and Tall. I am a 46R and the blazer fit incredibly huge. My thinking was that it would be easy to find a tailor to bring it down to my size...boy was I wrong! I visited a handful of tailors and places that do alterations and it was always the same story, couldn't do it or it would be incredibly expensive to get it done. The day I finally accepted that the blazer was a loss, a gentlemen recommended The Tailor Shop and I never looked back. Cesar ( the guy that does the work) took one look and without hesitation said it wouldn't be a problem. The prices were incredibly fair and the blazer was done within a few days as promised. I took it in on a Friday afternoon and picked it up that following Wednesday morning. I've read the other reviews and it's true, Cesar doesn't speak English but in my experience neither do a lot of the places around MP, including the one right next door. But he is fluent in alterations and for me, that's the only language that matters to me when I need a good tailor. Since then, I've had 3 other blazers and a few shirts tailored with them. I would absolutely recommend this place to any gentleman looking to give their clothes that slim fit look . BUT- 1 pair of pants came back with an uneven hemline in 2 different spots and 1 pair is a hair (an 1/8 of an inch, maybe) too long/longer than designated. I've been taking my jeans here for tailoring for several years now and have no complaints. It costs $7 for the original hem on jeans and normally takes about a week, unless you ask for it earlier. I've been coming to The Tailor Shop since the early 90s. Cesar, who works here, is a competent tailor and does good work at very reasonable prices. Whether it's hemming pants or altering dress shirts to be more fitted, this is the place to have your drobes personalized w/o breaking the bank. One thing, though, is to make sure you know exactly what you want from your alterations (how much to take in, cuffs or no cuffs, etc.) because Cesar is neither a sartorialist nor a style consultant. So what this place is a mom and pop shop, the craftsmanship, and the quality of their work its whats important here. Also, the fact the its doesn't empty out your wallet, is a kind gesture for the quality that you do get. Yes, the gentleman who tailors my clothes is named Ceasar and his English is not all together perfect, but he is kind and does GREAT work for an amazing price! As I business owner myself, I do understand that quality takes time and patience. If you don't like their sign which reads, "you want it when?" then that is poor planning on the customers' part, not on the shop's part! Came in a Wednesday to get my jeans tailored and got it done on Monday. Could have probably been a quicker process but there was thanksgiving. All in all the owner did a great a job, I showed him how wanted my pants to fit skinny at the leg with a 6.5 inch opening and he tailored my pants well. I am a huge supporter of locally owned shops. I also never give such negative reviews but this month long experience made me a lil upset. I am beyond dissapointed in the service I received from this shop. I brought in a brand new white career dress (not cheap ) in for a shortening of the hem. When I came to pick it up there was a brown splattered stain all over the front and shoulder of the dress. I asked pointed it out to the worker, who quickly denied there wrong doing. Mind you its a brand new white dress, if she didnt see it, surely the tailor or myself would have seen it while I had it on getting it measure in front of the MIRROR. I asked them to have it fixed/clean. No apologies or empathy that it happened. I came back a week later and dress was still stained and I was told it wouldnt come out. They still wanted to charge me full price. I told them, I shouldnt have to pay. So they told me I couldn't have my dress back and that the owner will call me the next day. I waited all day and received no call, so I placed a call to the shop. They told me I can come pick up my dress, no explanation or anything. I went in to pick it up the next business day. When I gave the worker my ticket, she gave me the dress and more dirty looks and as I was walking out the doorway, she called to me stating they will "never service me again" & "that was a message from the owner." Whoooooaaaa!! I have never been 86'd from a tailor shop. I was excited to have a place near my work, but I will keep seaching. Tip to the owner who never called me back: customer service is very important, I NEVER asked for the shop to pay for a new dress, just a bit of courtesy and customer service could have gone a long way. read more

I took two dresses here, one to get altered and one to get repaired. The dress that they altered looks great! It was a bit complicated, the t-strap in the back had to be shortened and the neckline pulled up. When I got it back, it fit great! I took it back once more so that it would fit better in the bust. With the dress that got repaired, the zipper was broken and they replaced it. It's good as new! I also wanted the hem fixed and they forgot to do that the first time, but I took it back to them and there was no extra charge. The employees were really kind and friendly.
