Chicken enchilada and Chicken taco combo

We are in Show Low for a few days to escape the heat down in the greater Phoenix/Scottsdale region. My wife and I craved Mexican cuisine so based on Yelp ratings, I picked El Charro Beer. Upon entering, we were warmly welcomed by the hostess and sat in one of their booths. Our server immediately came to our table and took our order. I ordered a chicken enchilada and chicken taco combo and my wife ordered the steak fajitas. Service friendly, attentive, and excellent. Our food was perfectly prepared and delicious. Access seemed to be good and the atmosphere was festive and colorful.

Pretty typical Mexican restaurant ambiance and decor. The restaurant is clean. The service is friendly and adequate. The margarita choices seemed odd (my opinion) I am more just classic me. I settled on the Cadillac 4/5. We ordered guacamole dip 3/5 (bland), chicken fajitas 4/5, and birria tacos 4/5.

My husband and I have a property in the Show Low area and on occasion will go in to town to try a new restaurant. We have gone to El Charro Beer three times now. The restaurant is beautiful inside! The staff are wonderful. They are friendly and very attentive. The problem for me here is the food. The presentation is always nice. The food is served fresh and hot, but it lacks flavor. It is so bland. Many will say that true Mexican food is a bit bland. It's not traditionally spicey. This I know. If you like really bland food, you will love it. For me....I prefer a bit more zip.

Just check out my photos of part of our dinner. We eat here often but tonight was extra awesome. Pasta Mixta - Alfredo with a hint of peppers, perfect shrimp and moist grilled chicken, pasta Al dente. Garlic bread was just enough. No salt needed, one of the best Alfredo sauces I've enjoyed in YEARS other than making my own at home. Beef flautas excellent and bigger/heavier than expected off the ala carte menu section. Green enchilada with just cheese was DEVINE and unexpected (no photo). We grew up on the border and this style of MX food is our favorite. Not sure we've enjoyed a cheese crisp with green chilis as much as tonight on this chilly Sunday. We took a lot home. Too many warm chips and salsa - lol. Now. Bar service is our favorite. They are all hard workers and polite. We always love to visit the back bar to unwind. No alcohol needed, but they have plenty. Mango shots are pretty yummy!

First time eating here. We walked into a very fun environment. Our server was very nice and helpful with questions on the menu. Chips were good, salsa was flavorful but not spicy. We ordered some of our usual dishes and we were not disappointed. We will definitely be back when in the area!

El Charro deserves way more than 4.3 stars! The service is fast, friendly, and genuinely welcoming -- everyone treats you like family. The back bar is a hidden gem with a fun vibe and a great selection, and the margaritas? Massive. Like, bring-a-friend-to-help-finish-it massive. Everything we ordered was fresh and flavorful. This is the kind of place that keeps you coming back.

Looked like Mexico. Food was great with lots of choices. The margaritas were ok. The chili relleno was excellent.

It was plenty of food. Service was friendly and attentive. The restaurant is located in an old Wendy's building, but they completely re-did the decor. It's bright and cheery inside.

It comes with bacon-wrapped shrimp (my absolute favorite), quesadillas, flautas, and taquitos, plus it's garnished with cucumber, tomatoes, guacamole, sour cream, and sliced avocado. Paired with their salsa, it's seriously amazing. I also ordered a three-item combo plate and wow -- the chimichangas were so good. I went with ground beef and shredded beef with green sauce, and added an enchilada with red sauce. Everything was super flavorful and tasted fresh. We also got the queso, which I highly recommend. I love dipping my chips into both the queso and the salsa -- so yummy. Honestly, you can't go wrong with either. They finish meals with watermelon shots, which are the best. I've heard there are like seven different liquors in that shot, and it's definitely memorable. I come here every time I'm in town, and it never lets me down. Great food, great flavors, and always a solid experience. Highly recommend!
