My husband and I stopped by for a snack and shared the Navajo taco. They had vegetarian red sauce available and we asked to leave off the cheese. Their beans were delicious here- super flavorful. They do not use lard in the restaurant and the beans were vegetarian and vegan. The red sauce was ok- wasn't as strong of a red chili sauce as I had hoped. The frybread tasted to me like it might be from a mix and wasn't the best I have had but it did stay crispy and good texture with everything on it and all in all it was flavorful and enjoyable. I think the beans made this dish. The table salsa was very mild for us but had a good fresh flavor. They brought us an additional hot salsa which had great spice but less fresh flavor- mixed both of those together we found the salsa we wanted! Seemed like one of the owners confused vegetarian with gluten free at first. Their horchata is made by Pepsi, not housemade. Their Sopapillas are made with the same batter they make their frybread. My general rating system: 1 star: I would stay away 2 stars: Has some good things about it but I generally don't recommend. 3 stars: Pretty good. I wouldn't go out of my way to go back but a decent place 4 stars: Great place. I would go back. 5 stars: I highly recommend stopping whatever you are doing and making plans to try it out! This was our group's first time trying Sal & Teresa's after several people recommended it saying it's the best Mexican restaurant in the Show Low area. We arrived on a Tuesday about 2 ish & our party of 5 were immediately seated & offered beverages. 2 of us tried the margaritas they were tasty, 1 ordered beer & the other 2 had ice tea & Dr Pepper. Complimentary chips & salsa were also served. Hubby ordered the chicken enchiladas without cheese (dairy allergy) & sadly it was too spicy for him so he had chips & beans. I ordered 2 ground beef tacos (daily special) and sadly they were just ok. I think they needed to change the oil because it gave the shells a less than pleasing taste. 2 friends tried the cheese enchiladas & taco special & again it was just ok. The only person in our group that truly enjoyed their meal was the one that ordered the chimichanga he said it was delicious & would order it again. No, we didn't complain about our food as it was just personal preference not problems with the food. Sadly upon leaving we all decided we would not be coming back again. Found this Restaurant to be welcoming, and friendly. We were served by Max who was efficient, informative and helpful. The ambiance is inviting and relaxing. The Cheese crisp was flaky and delicious and the guac was fresh and tasty. I ordered the cheese enchilada combo plate with rice and refried beans smothered in green chile just like I have back home in New Mexico. Hubby ordered shredded beef and shredded chicken flautas- home made and tasty! The sopapillas are perfectly soft, not over done. Friends suggested this locally owned Mexican restaurant for supper. They made a reservation and we got seated out on the patio right away. Beautiful outdoor space. Drinks were ordered (happy hour margaritas only $5 for a huge drink!). I ordered the poppers, which were delicious, but I wish the menu description would've included the fact that they were breaded. A chili relleno with green sauce, ala carte, was my meal. Delicious. My husband ordered the beef and chicken fajitas, which was a huge platter. My mother recommended this place, she had come here with friends before and said that the fajitas were exceptional. So yesterday she and I came in for a late lunch. We ordered the beef fajitas and two beverages. As we looked around the restaurant, we could see that the ladies that work here are very proud of their jobs. Quick, friendly, totally hustling and on the ball, as they glided around greeting customers, taking orders and running food. And let's talk about that food, the portion was bigger than what my mom and I could even share. The beef had so much flavor, and the green peppers and sweet onions were tender. The corn tortillas were perfectly warmed and there were several topping options on a large plate with rice and beans. Our server was very friendly, all of the servers there were very friendly, busser included. I will definitely be recommending Sal and Teresa's to anyone looking for delicious, authentic and cooked with love Mexican food. Before we left I just had to find a manager and let her know that we had a wonderful experience. I will definitely be eating there again. P.S. The chips and homemade salsa were delicious. It will be difficult for you to have restraint and not fill up on that before you are entree shows up to the table. read more

Sal & Teresa's moved from Show Low to Pinetop-Lakeside recently. We live right around the corner from their new location & decided to give them a try. Pleasantly surprised with their new locale. We were seated right by the DJ (?) and a young lady brought us chips/salsa & took our drink order. I'll cut to the chase, Albondigas was . I hadn't had good Albondigas in quite a while & this was on point. Quite flavorful, nice meatballs, no rice, chunks of potatoes, carrots & zucchini. Hubs had the Enchiladas. He ordered chicken but got shredded beef. Other than that, he said it was good. The only issue we had was waiting for the check. No waitress to be found. Just a gool ol' local restaurant with a hometown vibe. read more

The food and service here are always great! This is definitely our favorite Mexican restaurant in the White Mountain area. Everything we've tried has been delicious, but the chorizo is a standout- highly recommend giving it a try! My Daughter and her family moved to Pinetop so we went to visit for the month of July. This place was down the street from our rental. The BEST food ever! And the service was excellent. We used to love selling Teresa's when it was in Showlow. So when it moved, we went out to try it at its new location. We don't know what happened, but the food was just terrible. Also the new location which was probably owned not rented was in bad condition really needed a lot of work, which should've been done before they moved in to the restaurant. Anyway, at this time, can't say anything good about this restaurant. And unfortunately, we don't plan on going back. read more

We already have a few Mexican restaurants in town and decided to try something new. I had the chicken fajitas and my husband had the chili relleno. My chicken had an odd, almost gummy texture. It was cooked with bell peppers and onions with beans on the side. I was surprised at how bland the whole dish was. Not a chili pepper in sight! I tried adding salsa to the dish, but it too was completely flavorless. It just tasted like canned tomatoes. He said his chili relleno was pretty good, but also without spice. The service was so so. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time, but no one checked back with us after the food was delivered. When we were done, we finally flagged down the waitress for the check. A couple of hours after returning home my husband become violently ill and was up getting sick throughout the night. Based on other reviews it seems that our experience was an anomaly. But needless to say, we won't be back. read more

I've been going to Sal&Teresa's for years. Their food is excellent! Been there for breakfast, lunch and dinner fish fry on Fridays. Service was always quick and pleasant. We go to dinner on Fridays for the fish fry dinner three or 4 PM. That's before the other dinner customers come in. Can't beat the food there. read more

We went to Sal & Teresa's recently for takeout. I ordered the Enchiladas a la Crema, chicken.  The sauce was a bit spicy for me, so I pulled apart the enchiladas and ate just the chicken which was overly dry. The rice was not good at all, neither were the beans.  I have to say that I do believe that Sal and Teresa's has lost their edge since they moved. They are no longer a go to place for us. read more

Our first time in. The chips and salsa came as soon as we were seated. Both salsas were very good. My wife had the Sopapilla stuffed with chicken and I had the plate with Carne Asada and Shrimp. We ate there for 1st time Friday evening. the Ambiance wasn't the best. where we sat we could see part of the kitchen, an oversized person sitting at the bar with their pants halfway down their butt. when the food came it wasnt that hot. in fact mine was lukewarm. lots of waitresses standing around talking. this place needs a renovation, big time. building is way to "chopped up" seating not that great. would much rather have been eating at Los Corales in Pinetop. chips were ok, but can't go wrong with chips. the Salsa was not good really bland. they served 2 little dishes of the same bland salsa until I heard a cust ask "do you have any hot salsa" then they brought them a little dish of hot. so I asked for the hot salsa. why they didn't bring it out to begin with who knows. anyway, won't be going back there.
