    Quesadillas Oaxaqueñas

Food was fresh and tasty. I ordered the quesadillas one chicken and one beef, they didn't disappoint. Service was fast, our waitress was friendly and kind. The restaurant smelled delicious when they were preparing our food. Would definitely go back.

Buenísimo!! Disfrute un desayuno muy sabroso de chilaquiles, huevos estrellados, y cecina. Café de olla excelente. Y servicio muy cordial!

Their food is for White People. Bro real talk Ive never tasted anything so flavor less in my life meat looks like they washed it off with water, every item I ordered was came falling apart with only the most basic ingredients really a mockery to call this Mexican food.

Close up of my Tasajo Encebollado.

We wanted to try to eat something different and we came across the bright lights of El Charro Oaxaca Family Restaurant. We are used to the same ol', same ol' Mexican food, but this location is a new adventure. First, the service was great. We didn't understand the descriptions on the menu and our waitresses were excellent in trying to explain the plates. The Tlayuda was the perfect appetizer. We honestly thought is was something like chips and salsa, but we were surprisingly incorrect. It was like a size of a small pizza but a corn flour crust topped with black beans, cabbage, and shredded cheese. It wasn't melting hot, but still good! The slice of marinated pork was in the middle. I liked my Tasajo Encebollado a lot! Sure, there are pictures on the menu, but the dish is much better. Thinly sliced beef, onion, black beans, and green chillis. Scoop it all up and wrap in a corn tortilla and you got yourself a great meal. I felt I was served a lot, and that is not a complaint. My boyfriend enjoyed the Alambre Plate. He decided to check online for what this dish was and he expected bacon. He got ham, which I can argue is probably a Oaxacan cooked way to cook bacon. He liked his dish, wanted more meat, but he didn't complain. His dish was served with black beans and rice. Overall, this was an excellent experience and we would go again.

The food is authentic, and freshly made. The handmade tortilla, and chicken mole was delicious. Love all the beautiful artwork and decor.

    Chile Rellenos are pretty good.

Tlayuda is an appetizer that is like a crisp tostada on a cracker-thin blue corn tortilla spread with black beans, cabbage, white cheese, guacamole and your choice of meat. I asked for chicken, which is not actually one of the choices on the menu, but it was delicious and I suggest you try it this way. It will taste sort of like a fried taco.

The restaurant is warm, cozy, and full of charm, with a beautiful country-style atmosphere that makes you feel welcome the moment you walk in. The service was exceptional--friendly, attentive, and genuinely kind. I ordered the salmon with pesto sauce, and it was perfectly cooked, juicy, and absolutely delicious. It came with a fresh green salad topped with sunflower seeds, flavorful beans, and fresh guacamole. Every part of the meal was excellent. My son loved his burrito, and everyone at our table was happy with what they ordered. We finished with the flan, which was one of the best I've had--smooth, rich, and not overly sweet. Even the coffee was served in a beautiful traditional Mexican ceramic cup, which made the experience feel even more special. You can truly feel the love and care that goes into both the food and the hospitality here. If you're driving between Orange County and Las Vegas, this restaurant is absolutely worth the stop. We'll definitely be coming back on our next trip!

Both drinks had super chunky ice pieces in it to the point I couldn't even drink mines with a straw. I tried stirring and still couldn't drink it so I sent it back and asked it to be remade. The second drink was no better. Neither of us finished our drinks. The chips and salsa that they serve was also a terrible start. The chips were extremely hard as if they refried leftover chips or they had been sitting for a while. The salsa was super runny like they mixed it with water and the bean dip tasted like it was made with old oil. We took a couple bites and ended up pushing both the drinks, chips, beans & salsa aside while we waited for our entrees. My husband got the whole fish and I ordered the 3 taco plate. 2 al pastors and 1 carne asada. Both plates came with rice and beans. I bit into the al pastor taco and immediately spit out chunks of fat. The meat I did taste tasted very porky with no seasonings. Like very low quality pork. It was gross and inedible. The carne asada taco was ok. I ate that and a little rice. The beans tasted the same as the dip we had earlier so I didn't eat it. My husband said his fish was fried well but had ZERO seasoning. Even a bunch of limes didn't help much. It seems like they are trying to stretch their dollars by serving poor ingredients, skipping seasonings or serving leftovers. A great way to close shop soon! The icing on the cake was when we got the bill and they charged us $2 extra for blended drinks when the damn drinks were barely blended! Unbelievable! We paid and left, never to return again. I was gonna give one star but their saving grace was the server. She was soo nice and kept apologizing for the drinks and food as if it was her fault. Of course it wasn't. In the end $90 before tip down the drain for the worst Mexican food we've ever had!

I ordered two fish, one grilled shrimp taco and one potato taco. The food came out quickly and was plated beautifully with both lemon and lime wedges. I was asked if I would like a mild, medium, or hot salsa. I chose the medium one but it had only just a little hint of a kick. It was a good tasting accompaniment for the seafood. The beer batter was crispy on the fish. There is plenty of shredded cabbage and a good crema on the tacos. Fish was very fresh and clean tasting. The grilled shrimp was seasoned well but were small and a bit dry. I would probably try the beer battered shrimp next time. Potato taco was crunchy and the filling tasted good.
