Perfectly charred carne asada Cali Burrito. As good as they get.
    Billy K.

I'm doubling down on my review of El Charro. I had one of the better Cali burritos here recently and I want to tell you all about it. Nicely charred beef that eats almost like BBQ burnt ends with some crispy char. Excellent potatoes and guacamole all with the perfect ratios and well assembled. (These things matter, people!) Most importantly and I think most under mentioned in these reviews is the quality of their salsas / hot sauces. Don't sleep on the hot chili oil sauce at the salsa bar either. You're welcome

Scam business.. they charge an additional $1.25 under "genius charge". When you ask for an explanation for the extra charge, they say that all Mexican restaurants in california have it, as if I'm not from socal who goes to a lot of mexican restaurants. When we said this is not true, they said that their boss told them to extra charge customers and can't give us a refund.

Excellent taco place, a little pricey, understandable in the mountain area. We ordered 2 shrimp, 2 fish, 1 beef and one other. All good especially the shrimp taco. The fish is a little over fried. But crispy. They also have side dishes you could get by yourself. Nice place if you want a quick bite.

Great little family Mexican restaurant. Has a nice hot sauce. Had carnitas, carne asada plates, el charro salad. And a carne burrito. All Good!

This place is SO good. Idk why it doesn't have all 5-stars. I was slightly skeptical due to the Yelp rating but I stopped in and got fish and shrimp tacos. Dude- the fish tacos are some of the best I've ever had and I live in LA. The taco salad with carnitas is also delicious. I suspect they make everything homemade and tortillas/chips fresh by hand. Everything is really good, I've already eaten here 3x this week!

Good service and amazing tacos!!!! I went with some friends and everything was amazing. Quesobirria and asado were my favorites. Spicy salsa is great too

    Quesabirria, carne asada tacos, burrito

10/10 quesabirria was fair priced and delicious. Tacos came with carmelized onion and jalapeño. I did not expect it to be this good oh my god. Very quick service

Honestly, this place blew me away with how fast the service was and delicious the enchiladas were. They have an unlimited salsa bar and water available as well. It seems like a family owned business so everyone felt super welcoming and kind. Mammoth is a competitive town filled with food, so this a stand out for taste, quantity, and price! I recommend!

    Small burrito with no meat.

It has officially become our absolute favorite go-to spot in town. The ambiance is super unassuming and full of character. When you first walk in, it just looks like a small, local Latino grocery store stocked with great specialty ingredients. But as you head towards the back, you discover an absolute powerhouse of a taqueria kitchen. There's a tiny, quaint seating area inside where you can eat, or you can grab it to go. It completely side-steps the typical crowded, pricey resort-town vibe for something authentic and cozy. The food is spectacular. Whether you're getting their street tacos (the al pastor and asada are fire) or a hefty California burrito after a long day outdoors, the meats are perfectly seasoned, juicy, and served piping hot with great salsas. The quality is top-notch and the prices are incredibly fair for Mammoth. If you want a consistent, delicious meal that hits the spot every single time, skip the tourist traps and come straight here!

When we arrived the restaurant was fairly empty. Around 5:30. That should have been a clue.... When we requested them to put tables together they were so rude and acted like we were severely inconveniencing them. We're out to dinner with friends on vacation so excuse us for wanting to all sit together in your empty restaurant! When it was time to order I nicely asked if it was easier for the server to divide the checks by our 3 families as we ordered or wait until they brought us the bill. Server says neither could be done. Their "system" wouldn't allow it. It would be impossible.. So I said that was odd because I eat out at least 3 or 4 times a week and usually it's not a problem.. So I offer what I thought was a reasonable solution ... They seemed so put out that they had to put together 3 small tables for our group so I suggested entering the order as 3 separate tables .. Nope! Couldn't be done. Food wouldn't come out at the same time. I said we didn't mind that. I even pulled our table a little away from the other 2 and said ... Ok, now we're our own table.. Nope! Couldn't be done.. best they could do is put everything on one check and we'd have to figure out how to divide it up ourselves and they could run separate cards. Now here's the thing if you're reading this thinking I'm just whining and being unreasonable.... I'm giving them my business.. it ended up being over $300 of business for them. I own my own business so I know the value of customer service. If I make a reasonable request for something that is done all the time at other places and they flatly refuse and do that with attitude,,, that is a horrible customer service. They do realize they're in a service industry, right??. When they tell me that my request isn't possible thats a lie because I do it all the time. What they are really saying is that they don't WANT to do it or are refusing to try to figure out a way to accommodate our request. Normally I tell the server that if they can't figure out a way to fulfill my simple request and we have to do it ourselves I'll just deduct some from their tip since I have to do their job and it seems they don't want to be inconvenienced. But since we were a larger group they automatically hit us with a service charge. So instead, next time we'll take our large group to Gomez's which I hear is better and hope the servers are more friendly and more accommodating.

Anyway, I was giving 3 stars initially and then the food came out. Both my buddy and I got the hot chicken sandwich, which I had here over a year ago and was good. This time it was over cooked and dry. So dry it was hard to swallow even with slaw in it. The waffle fries were stale, and both the sandwiches and fries were room temperature even though it came out within minutes of ordering.
