Ordered the BBQ Chicken Pizza. But the pizza itself is nothing out of the ordinary. The dough was undercooked and the overall flavor profile was extremely generic, but I guess not much to complain about considering it was close by. Not sure why it's so overpriced here. Adds weird surcharge fees, package fees, etc. Just leaves a sour taste when ordering the food. read more

Pretty good pizza - quick with the pasta and salad so appreciate that. Asked for side of garlic bread ...never came. Waitress said they are busy...sure but 30 minutes for two slices of bread? And then trying to sneak in the surcharge fee...total garbage move. That alone will make me never come back. read more

After a long day of driving, we were hungry. We came here for dinner. Was it because it was dinner time, because it was Sunday, or because there's many people vacationing? Idk. Whatever the case may be, it took ages for everything: for host to greet us, to seat us, to take our order and to get our food. My food came out first (the lasagna), but my husband's and son's 12" pizza took like an extra 10-15 min longer to arrive. I didn't want to eat until they had their food too. The food was mediocre. Stop by after an overnight backpacking trip. I will say their pizza is good, the beer was cold. Ordered online for pickup on a very busy Saturday night during high season. Parking lot is very small and was a mess with cars and no parking spots were available. Pick up inside was very quick and friendly. The pizza was subpar. I think microwave pizza would be better. Dominos deep dish is so much better than what we ordered here. We ordered a small Supreme pizza with pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms and bell pepper. Note that the small pizza is more a personal size pizza or a pizza you'd get for the kids to share, only 4 slices and not very filling. Not recommended if you're sharing with another adult. Texture and taste of pizza dough was off (not chewy and not bready, more dry and hard) and toppings were sparse. Cheese quality was not good. I don't know if they salt the top of the pizza but it was very salty, almost inedible. We also ordered the buffalo wings, crispy and medium spice. Wings were cold and tough, not crispy. Almost like they were refrigerated and warmed up in the microwave. Medium spice is more like a mild, less spice than standard buffalo sauce. Ambiance of the restaurant is nice, although very loud and very busy. Dining room is not as big as you would expect. I would rather get dominos than eat here again. read more

Very cool place, and very good food! We sat in the Outlaw Saloon section. The decor was very cool and welcoming. The menu is the same as Johns Pizza. It's basically the same place. But if you sit in the Saloon area you get table service. If you sit in the pizza side, you order at the counter, and it's a little more casual, and there are more families with kids. Our food was pretty good. Nice sized portions, and fair prices. The service was pretty decent too. I would definitely come back! read more

It feels like any good food place in Mammoth on the weekend during snow season is busy, and John's Pizza Works is no exception! Dropped in on Saturday night and they have both the option to try to snag a table on one side of the restaurant or put your name on a list for the other side and wait for a table. We were thankfully able to snag a table and the staff were quick to clean right as we sat which was awesome. The food came out and was DELICIOUS. they also don't charge for ranch! 1 star removed because the prices were insane. $40 for a large pizza! read more

The only downside was the crust, which tasted more like flatbread than traditional pizza dough. The service was also a bit slow, and their ordering/pickup system could use some improvement. Carried out four pizzas for a group of 12 for dinner one night in Mammoth. While I didn't think the pizza was anything super special, it was good and really hit the spot after a full day of skiing! Also appreciated the option for a nearby carry out option, as delivery is limited/not really existent in the area. We had a car in our group which made it easy to run out. These pizzas are LARGE. Came here on a Saturday Jan 2025 for lunch. The $40 pizza picante (giant sized) tasted like the old costco combo pizza but with more pepperonis and a few bits of jalapeño. We should've gotten a smaller portion because the giant size was a lot. The wings were really dry and had very little meat on the bone. The sauce on it tasted like the proper buffalo sauce so that wasn't disappointing. The kid's spaghetti with a slice of garlic bread was about $10. My friend liked it. She said it was very pasta-y. The $14.50 caesar salad was very disappointing and way too expensive for what it was. I would never order that again. The $18 calzone was tasty. It came with a side of marinara sauce. My brother loved the dish and thought it was loaded with cheese and had a lot of pepperoni. It basically was a glammed up Hot Pocket. He thought it might've tasted better with garlic instead of pepperonis to create a more garlic bread type experience. Nine dollars for a bowl of chicken noodle soup as the "soup of the day" is outrageous. It came with some crackers but that definitely doesn't up its value in anyway. The build your own pizza was a good size. Any additional cheese counts as a topping so I just got the normal amount of mozzarella cheese. I chose pesto for the sauce and added one topping of meatballs. The final price was $12.90. It wasn't too bad for a personal pizza. It didn't really taste like pesto at all to me. I've made pesto from scratch often at home. I wouldn't taste this pizza and think there was anything resembling pesto in it. It had some green oily bits and that was about it. The meatballs were also bland. It was a well constructed pizza, just didn't have the flavor that it should've and could've been packed with. Our total being over $100 for what we got was a little shocking. Wish it all could've tasted better for the price we paid. The cashier was nice whenever we asked for anything. Answered all our questions well, especially when I wanted to know if switching the cheese for the build your own pizza counted as an additional topping. There was plenty of seating and an indoor arcade. Once we came in, we had to seat ourselves and get menus on our own. No one came around to us or offered us menus. I'm not sure why that is. They had plenty of extra plates and utensils as needed. It was mostly reusable plastic plates and silverware. The 2 restrooms were single person but spacious. read more
