Avocado enchiladas had barely any cheese. The appetizer guac had very little seasoning. The server was nice but there were bugs on our table. Our margaritas were the saving grace and they were VERY strong. These will get your moneys worth but overall on the food, I would say to pass.

The service and atmosphere is welcoming, a nice place to enjoy a meal. I order 2 Old Fashioned beef tacos and they were delicious. I definitely would recommend this place.

Service started out slow. We sat at a booth in the bar area. She seemed a bit overwhelmed & not in the best mood. Service got better as the evening progressed. The flight was good & worth the $20. Taco Tues is a deal, I'm glad it includes fish & shrimp tacos. 2 for 9.99 or 3 for 11.99 includes beans & rice. The pinto beans were flavorful & soupy, which I enjoyed. We tried the rice & it was pretty bland. The complimentary chips & salsa was tasty, not too spicy. I didn't know they had a sauce bar until i was done with our meal. I saw it on the way to the restroom, which was clean. I asked for hot sauce & she brought Tabasco, which I'm not a fan of. No mention of the other choices on the sauce bar. Anyway, the tacos were cooked nicely & had plenty of flavor. I enjoyed the topping options, not the usual lettuce & tomato. Overall, a good experience. Oh & there's an outdoor seating area.

I love reading the story about the Melbourne location's history. So much love here.

I adore this place. The staff is genuinely friendly and competent. Surrounded by eclectic and welcoming dining areas, I feel at home. The 'tableside guac' is fabulous, and the El Jefe margaritas are very tasty. The menu has plenty of variety, and also vegetarian options! Most of all, (for us Dog lovers), on the last Saturday of the month, they have 'Yappy Hour' on the patio. Bring your dog, and bring a bag of dog food or treats for donation to the highlighted rescue society, and you'll receive a cup of queso and chips for free. (Nice offer, but it's the giving and social experience that matters most to me!)

We were looking for a place we could go to and waste time and we had our dog with us. Glad to have found such a dog friendly place. We sat outside on the patio with our dog. The hostess was super nice and welcoming and so was our server. Our server brought out a dog water bowl. Some person came out (idk if they were a manager but they worked with el Chico) and started trying to train the dog and asked me for chicken off my plate to give him as a treat. That completely threw me off and I didn't want to give her any. You should have treats in your pocket if you're gonna randomly start training dogs and being a dog whisperer or whatever. Don't ask a customer for chicken off their plate. Either way, the food was good. I got the top shelf fajita quesadillas and they were delicious! The menu is pretty pricey here though, the enchiladas were $16. My daughter got the kids chicken tenders. Kids meals are $7. I would come back but prob not with my dog.

The food here is amazingly good ... I came here for the first time 21 years ago and it's just as good as back then ... I love the welcoming Decor ... and the up best music they play ... Diane was our server and she was great.. I had the steak fajitas and my husband had the steak burrito, both came with rice and beans and there portions were nice ..totally coming back.

Updated part of first review. I was recently going through my photos and these didn't get posted. This is a all you can eat Mexican restaurant near the Mall in Melbourne. They had a nice salsa Bar where you can get all the salsa you wanted, not sure if still up with covid now. Definitely my Parents favorite Mexican restaurant when they lived there. Had no problems while we ate there. And food was not bad

The fatty portion of my Prime Rib was excessive. I get that ribeye-style cuts derive flavor from fat, but this was to the point where it overwhelmed the dish and left me wishing I had ordered the lower-cost ribeye instead. On top of that, it came out medium instead of medium-rare, which didn't help. That said, others at the table ordered the NY Strip and Ribeye, and both looked excellent--cooked properly and more in line with what I'd expect from a steakhouse at this level. Highlights of the meal: Brazilian sliders were fantastic--definitely a must-order appetizer Oxtail stroganoff was rich and well executed Mac & cheese was a solid side Cocktails were creative and well made Overall, I've had better steaks at lower price points, but also worse ones at higher-end spots. Based on what I saw from other dishes, I'd absolutely give Ember & Oak another shot--just not with the Prime Rib next time.

The Medjool dates with millionaire bacon and goat cheese and I am not exaggerating when I say this dish could solve international conflicts. Sweet pineapple, salty bacon, creamy goat cheese, and a drizzle of what tasted like the chef whispering sweet nothings the way I'm romantic. I was going to order a second dose for "research purposes." Truffle Honey Chicken Tenders (Not Your Childhood Lunchbox) is the most misleading name ever because "tenders" sounds like something you eat in a drive thru parking lot (I'd pick Bojangles of course). These were crispy, sticky, sweet, slightly spicy, and basically the PhD version of chicken fingers a bit dry but the sauce make it good. Brussels sprouts usually remind people of childhood trauma. These charred brussels sprouts with honey, soy, ginger, and peanuts tasted like the chef personally apologized to every person who had ever been forced to eat boiled vegetables in 1987. Smoky, sticky, crunchy, slightly sweet. I would willingly eat vegetables here again, which is a sentence I never thought I would say out loud! We build a strategy to devide an conquer in a unique waiter (I hate the name server, it sounds like tennis) recommendation that was impressive! My brother ordered the heritage pork chop, which looked like it had been bench pressing in the kitchen before arriving at the table. Perfect crust, juicy inside, sitting on sweet potato hash with a slaw piled on top like a fashionable hat and I went with the snapper catch of th day for a surf and turf combo! I considered banging on the door at 3 am for another dose of pork chop like I was in college and wanted the party to go on My brother was impressed with the Blackbird Arise that showed up like it owned the table. He said it was smooth, bold, and dangerous because it makes you start considering dessert when you absolutely do not need dessert. I don't drink so I take his word for it. The women weren't behaving so thy split a smash burger and truffle fries, which means our ordering strategy was clearly "yes." The burger had that glossy brioche bun that looks like it was polished before serving, and the fries were exactly the kind that disappear before you realize you have eaten most of them. A smash burger is supposed to drip greese down your arm and this didn't. This strategy ensured my spot on the couch for bedtime. If you go, order two doses of the dates so you don't have to bring a date.

**INITIAL REVIEW**…read more Melbourne Main Street a.k.a. Historic Downtown Melbourne is a definite "go-to" location when it comes to mom n' pop eateries ranging from casual to fine dining. Why many of my five-star reviewed restaurants are in this stretch of historic Melbourne, FL. If there is one restaurant I'd say has the "most" magnificent views of Indian River, Melbourne Main Street, and even Golden Hours of the horizons, then it is definitely The Landing Rooftop (which I will shorthand simply to Landing for the remainder of this review). Though an address is provided, The Landing - as per its full nomenclature - is located on a rooftop, specifically the rooftop of Hilton's Hotel Melby. The free parking for the garage floors for the HIlton are limited, so if you can't get a spot, there is a free parking garage just north of Hotel Melby next to the City Hall. To get to The Landing, you have to enter the lobby of Hotel Melby and take the elevator up to the 11th floor, which is the floor dedicated to the restaurant. Don't worry, the staff won't say anything and they'll usually let you go as they know about the patron traffic to the restaurant. The Landing is a beautifully-designed restaurant with Hilton's signature modern classic designs of bright tans and white lights. There is both indoor and outdoor seating, but I suggest indoor seating during high sun hours and outdoor seating during golden hour times and nighttime dining. As mentioned earlier, the views are magnificent for Indian River and Melbourne. I've eaten multiple times here at The Landing, but my lastest visit was an impromptu "date" with my friend Damaris, simply because she has never been here before, and I was giving her the grand tour of Melbourne Main Street. We sat outside in the shaded overhang, but got to walk around taking pictures of the views from all four sides. We should have sat in the cocoon hanging chairs, but we didn't know when we'd get our food and drinks. Starting with the drinks, we got a couple of mocktails, the Lemon Bay Breeze and the Strawberry Sunset. Details of both drinks and prices are in the pictures. As for food, we both split their charcuterie board appetizer, which I say is quite amazing, but definitely needs more bread and crackers. It consisted of many kinds of meats, cheeses, jams, olives, nuts, and fruits. Everything was so delicious, but we had to start using the cheese and meat slices as the "bread." We also got two desserts to share, the classic key lime pie and I assume the pistachio olive oil cake. Both were delicious and details, including price, are captioned in their pics. And on a side note, the restrooms are clean and stocked as they are up to the standard of a Hilton. And apparently, The Landing is one of those restaurants that are behind the times on payment. They initially takes tap payments with cards, but not NCT on phones. Their system does not like protective virtual cards, which is a major negative in my honest opinion, given the fact their food is a bit pricey compared to the rest of the restaurants in Melbourne Main Street. Ultimately, I am going to give The Landing three-out-of-five stars for their review. And the reason why I am giving it this kind of rating is a comparison to other Hilton restaurants I have been to. Kinda like Hotel Melby itself, this restaurant is kinda under the average of the Hilton standard. Not bad, but I have had better at other Hilton hotels and resorts. Only standout are the views around and about the restaurant, and that is a farcry because we are talking about Melbourne and Indian River. But I will stress this is one of the best places to dine while watching a rocket launch out of Cape Canaveral.
