The fatty portion of my Prime Rib was excessive. I get that ribeye-style cuts derive flavor from fat, but this was to the point where it overwhelmed the dish and left me wishing I had ordered the lower-cost ribeye instead. On top of that, it came out medium instead of medium-rare, which didn't help. That said, others at the table ordered the NY Strip and Ribeye, and both looked excellent--cooked properly and more in line with what I'd expect from a steakhouse at this level. Highlights of the meal: Brazilian sliders were fantastic--definitely a must-order appetizer Oxtail stroganoff was rich and well executed Mac & cheese was a solid side Cocktails were creative and well made Overall, I've had better steaks at lower price points, but also worse ones at higher-end spots. I was recommended this place by someone and was not disappointed. We came here for my boyfriend's birthday and it really was amazing! We had a reservation and were seated as soon as we walked in. The actual restaurant was very clean and had a nice vibe to it! The seating was comfortable and spacious. Our server was a male (I forget his name) but he was great! He was very friendly, informative of the menu, and also attentive! Service can make or break your experience so I am glad we had a great server! My boyfriend said he had the best lemonade he has ever had. Our food was incredible. Everything tasted so fresh! We got a mixture of a bunch of things. I shared the steak and they were able to cut it in half and cook it at two different temperatures. The steak and mac n cheese were soo delicious!! Our server was kind enough to bring out a birthday dessert and package our food up for us! I knew the prices before walking in here, so I knew exactly what to expect. Most of the reviews say it's too expensive. It was "expensive" but the prices seemed VERY reasonable for the quality of food and the amount given. This was my second time visiting Ember & Oak, and I chose it again for my birthday dinner because of the consistently great food and service. My husband and I both ordered the steak frites, and we shared the mac and cheese and Brussels sprouts as sides -- everything was cooked perfectly and absolutely delicious. I had the Pink Daisy mocktail, which was refreshing and well-balanced, and my husband enjoyed the Ember & Oak Old Fashioned. The main reason I returned, though, was for the incredible service and especially the Biscoff cheesecake... only to find out it's no longer on the menu . That dessert alone was worth coming back for, and it truly needs to make a return. Please bring it back! Shoutout to our server, Zach, who was attentive, friendly, and an excellent multitasker despite how busy it was for a Tuesday night. While I was disappointed about the cheesecake, I ordered the flourless chocolate torte, which was a solid and satisfying replacement. 4-star rating -- only because I need Ember & Oak to bring the Biscoff cheesecake back permanently! We visited Ember and Oak for the second time and were super impressed again! The pork belly and scallop appetizer is fantastic... the scallops are like butter! The steaks were cooked to perfection and the create your own steakhouse board (Tuesdays only) is so much fun! The bone marrow onions to go with the steak are a must have! The restaurant is beautifully decorated outside with light and a courtyard area. Inside, was spacious with plenty of room in between tables. The seating was a dark blue velvet decor. We were immediately greeted by the hostess and brought to our table. Our waitress, Kate, was exceptional! She explained everything we needed to know, and gave us ample time to make our decisions on drinks and food. She was friendly and knowledgeable about the dishes on the menu. The bread came out hot and was very tasty. The salmon was very good and came with a tater tot potato which I was not a fan of. The Caesar salad and Wedge salads were excellent. The 8oz Filet Mignon was good, but not worth the $70 price tag considering that it did not come with any sauce or side dish, because it was a-la-carte. Went here to celebrate a birthday a couple of nights ago and will definitely be going back. Our server Tina was great! ( so was the hostess!) She answered me honestly when I asked for her opinion on a side dish and ended up with something really delicious. The ambiance was a little loud due to a large party seated near us but other than that it was a gorgeous restaurant with a nice vibe. This swanky place is hiding in Melbourne- And if you haven't been at all, or in awhile, you NEED TO! The bread they serve when you sit down is so fluffy, with a crunchy salty rosemary brushing, it was surprisingly good. Another thing that surprised me was the Brussels Sprouts, the tuna appetizer, the sliders, and the pork chops! I was able to try so much because I went with a large group. The signature old fashioned was good, traditional old fashioned would probably be better. The 8oz filet was sold à la cart at $70. I'd say it's about $50 overpriced. It was not seared and lacked the depth of natural flavor that a prime grade filet contains. Ambiance felt cramped. I ate at the bar but had my back to the restaurant and many patrons waiting next to me for their table. Service was below par but likely because the bar was under staffed on this day. My husband ordered a 9 oz sirloin and my son got the 7 oz. My husband's steak was riddled with fat and gristle at the top. It was basically a 7 oz sirloin but he got charged 70 bucks! This place tries to be fancy but they overdo it. I ordered a pork dish and it was covered with the nastiest sauce I have ever tasted. Then I ordered key lime pie, thinking this HAS to taste good. But no, there was some charred marshmallow stuff on top that tasted like liquid smoke. It was such a simple dish and they have to elevate it with all this nonsense. We had a great time. The drinks were good and the bread was awesome. I liked the steak and the board, my favorite was the creamed spinach. The Caesar salad was really good, especially the dressing and cheese. The baked potato had a lot of flavor and was very soft. The mushrooms went well with everything along with the two sauces. I recommend the board for sure. I didn't care much for the oxtail and bone marrow, it had a strong bike taste. The wait staff was awesome and very attentive. We went after a family event for desert. What a treat to enjoy!! I was looking forward to trying the Peanut Butter bar. It was presented with all the fun toppings including Carmel coated popcorn and toasted marshmallow. It did not disappoint! Was there last night for a business dinner. We were all disappointed with the quality and preparation of the steaks. I had the filet, that was not cooked as ordered, looked like it had been in a souvi vs a grill, was very fatty. Two bites for a $70 filet was all I could manage so I returned it. None of the other diners' steaks were cooked as ordered. Very overpriced for the menu. and the $55 "plank" of sides was also overpriced for what was provided. Put that with the restaurant being downtown, limited parking in front and NO VALET parking means I'm one and done with this restaurant. Ambience is not "beautiful" as described in other reviews. It looks like a banquet hall with tables haphazardly placed. Stick with Djons in Melbourne Beach. Excellent food and a beautiful restaurant! The inside has very comfy seats and beautiful lighting as well. We were greeted right away . Our server was excellent- made some good recommendations and made sure to check in on us the perfect amount. The only downside was dinner service was very slow which was hard for us trying to keep our 2 yr old entertained. The bread that they serve melts in your mouth - it's incredible. I got the lobster bisque to start with which was also very good, it had a great lobster taste, but also with a little bit of a kick/spice. My darling husband and I celebrated our second anniversary at this amazing restaurant in old town Melbourne yesterday evening. We arrived to find a lovely atmosphere, a quiet booth covered in deep blue velvet awaiting us. Almost immediately our waiter, Iman and his assistant Mercy arrived to provide us with water, take our drink order and bring us a beautiful Parker House bread shipped in fresh that morning from Boston. Its crispy crust complimented soft interior which was quickly anointed with whipped butter. After carefully perusing the very comprehensive menu, my husband and I settled on filet mignons which arrived perfectly cooked to medium rare. These steaks were so tender, perfectly cooked and presented so beautifully they easily compare with Emeril Legasse's Delmonico restaurant in New Orleans or Ruth's Chris one of the standards of excellence. We ordered a side of charred and delicious fresh asparagus, and I topped off my meal with a perfectly baked potato, generously topped with chive sour cream. The tenderness of this perfect steak was amazing. We ordered a bottle of Violet Hill Pinot Noir from the Willamette valley in the heart of Oregon's Pinot grape growing region. It was the perfect pairing. After an unhurried main course we selected a burnt cream dessert which was prepared with a warm bananas foster topping. Heaven on a plate! Our wait staff was attentive but not intrusive and made us feel like family, a nice touch. We will definitely return to this lovely establishment! The only hesitation I would have to return more frequently is it's very pricy for sides and entrees, more so than most of its peers. We read reviews before going, and those reviews were spot on. Everything but the food is good. The ambiance is nice and comfortable. Our server was pleasant and attentive and the bread was pretty darn excellent. Also they have large wine selection and it is not ridiculously overpriced. But that is where the positives stop. The steak tartar was so so with a ton of unnecessary cream on top. The entrees took forever to come, over 40 minutes to cone. The pork chop was overcook and the honey fried chicken was dry, cooked in panko you get from Publix ( honestly Publix fried chicken is 1000 times better) and had no flavor. Underwhelming and unfortunatly not worth the price. Again staff and ambiance nice so maybe a drink at the bar and on to another dinner place is what you use it for. read more

We did a late Valentine's Day dinner with another couple we adore and the food was delicious just like last time. We were still not able to order dessert because we were too full from dinner. The concept is family style meals.The first time we went, we didn't know how big the food portions were and we ordered two appetizers for just 2 people, we ended up bringing so much food home. We ordered the wedge salad and the bacon and scallops, both delicious! The board came with a Caesar salad, a whole potato with a white sauce on it, a spinach item and your choice of meat. My family and I have been coming to this location for years while vacationing in the Melbourne area. Unfortunately, this visit was disappointing compared to our past experiences. Our waitress was friendly, but she didn't explain that the bone-in ribeye would be served already cut off the bone. Because of that, the 20 oz steak looked more like 10 oz -- and since it was precut, it was hard to tell. Not a good experience there. What concerned me most, however, was being seated near the kitchen window. The chef in the white coat displayed very poor food-handling practices. I observed him handling ready-to-eat food without gloves, drinking a beverage over plated dishes, wiping his nose, face, and apron with his bare hands, and then handling raw ingredients. This kind of behavior is a serious foodborne illness risk. I ultimately sent my steak back -- not only because I questioned the portion size, but because I no longer felt comfortable eating something prepared under those conditions. I don't mind paying premium prices, but professionalism and proper food safety should always be a top priority. People are watching, and experiences like this affect how guests feel about returning. read more

They are not great at answering phones. I also didn't find the hostess to be very mindful. We sat at the bar and ordered drinks while we awaited are table coming available, she didn't ask us if we were ready or would let her know when we were ready and sat others before us. I loved the atmosphere here, but the rest of things were sort of ho-hum. Our waitress disappeared for long periods of time, so I wasn't totally thrilled with that, either. As for the food...I was disappointed in that, too. The wedge salad was served in a deconstructed way, and I felt like there were far too few toppings for the giant piece of lettuce we got--barely any blue cheese, 3 onion rings, a few grape tomatoes and a tiny portion of dressing. Our steak that we split was fabulous. It took a long time for me to get ketchup for the fries we ordered. While the Brussels sprouts were good, they were perhaps the unhealthiest of Brussels sprouts I've ever had. The wine selection we had for dinner was good, and the wine we had was also good. So, overall, nothing all that special here. I think I will be seeking another restaurant for dinner next time. read more

We celebrated my husband's birthday at Ember 7 Oak and couldn't have chosen a better spot. The evening started with a fun coincidence as our hostess was celebrating her birthday as well! Our server, Kate, was outstanding: friendly, professional, and wonderfully attentive. She even surprised our granddaughter by arranging a special off-menu treat she'd mentioned in passing. The food was delicious, beautifully presented, and the atmosphere warm and inviting. 4 of us shared the Tomahawk steak with the steakhouse board and it was plenty of food. The chef even cook our steak to 2 different doneness levels to accommodate our group. My wife and I brought her parents and brother to Ember and Oak last night to celebrate her birthday. We kicked off the evening with Oysters Rockefeller served with smoked bacon! WOW, and my all-time favorite with a twist: Steak tartare, but not just any, it was made with a dry-aged NY strip, ribeye, filet mignon, and bone marrow with a French onion dip. The chips were made in beef fat. This is a unique dish anywhere. It would be spectacular if this were the only thing they served, but it gets more ridiculous! The Swedish meatballs were served with a bordelaise cream and pomme puree with lingonberry jam, unreal appetisers. My only regret was watching the Brazilian steak sliders go out to another table instead of ours; I should have ordered them :( Before acknowledging the chef spies (Dov and Justin) out to support the chef, Kevin, who has been having issues with misinformation being published by Florida Today, we embarked on the journey of the Black Angus 50oz Tomahawk ribeye that we paired with beef Wellington. The Wellington is a 16oz Koji-aged short rib that I'm eating cold leftovers of now, and even that's amazing! Done with prosciutto and mushroom duxelles, it was worth the wait! We also ordered the pan-seared salmon with corn puree, lemon risotto, and chimichurri. When ordering the steak on a board, similar to family style, it comes with a loaded hasselback potato, mushrooms that are local, and epic creamed spinach in reasonable portions, unlike a nonlocal favorite, Prime 112. The Black Truffle butter is delish! Dessert was a miraculous affair. While I can't remember all the names (curse my short-term memory), I did take pictures because they were too beautiful not to share. The one to remember is the peanut butter bar! It was so good that it should come with a warning label. If you go to Ember and Oak and don't try the peanut bar, you're missing out on a religious experience. It's reason enough to visit, even if you skip straight to dessert. I believe the champagne and wine selection is meticulously curated by the owner's wife she's a sommelier in her own right. While I don't drink, I am good at picking for special guests, having been in the restaurant business. Ember and Oak delivered an unforgettable dining experience for my wife's birthday. This was an unexpected find. We tried to go to one place first, but left due to a rude server, so walked out before ordering. Their loss was our gain in stumbling into this place. The service, ambiance and most of the food was delicious. In addition, the restaurant is beautiful and the artwork on the walls is outstanding. The star of the meal was the fabulous bread they served complimentary with the meal. My dining partner doesn't normally like bread much, but ate seconds of this. It was warm and buttery and airy and light. But our server didn't warn us this was coming, so we ordered a wild mushroom bruschetta, which we would not have done. By the time it came, we didn't want more bread as we had ordered salad as well, and we were trying to save room for dessert. (With entrees, that didn't happen!) The bruschetta was the only thing really not good as it was heavy, with way too much bread. It was supposed to come on a sourdough bread, but the kitchen ran out of that so they sent out a much thicker bread. That didn't work. We had to take it home, and it was so heavy, it took my review down a star (both is how bad it was and the fact that the server failed to mention that we were getting a loaf of bread with our dinner). The Modern Caesar Salad is also outstanding. They coat every individual leaf of the romaine lettuce (served in whole leaves stacked up) with their homemade Caesar dressing. It was really delicious, and one of our favorite things. It looks like a lot, but being lettuce leaves, it's very light. If you don't eat meat, there are not a lot of choices. So I got the fish of the day, with was Snapper. It was presented beautifully, and was a large piece. Unfortunately, it lacked seasoning and was a little dry. My partner ordered the ribeye steak and absolutely loved it! I think this place is more known for meat, so meat eaters will likely be extremely happy. The portions were very generous as well. My partner wanted so much to have dessert, as their dessert menu looked good. But we'll have to save that for another time. We were just too full for anything else. I would give this venue a zero star if that was an option. We had reservations for 7pm Christmas Eve. We arrived at 6:30pm to have a drink at the bar before dinner. The bar area was really small with limited seatings. That's understandable but there were kids sitting at the bar. The waiting area if you call it that was a small bench which was of course preoccupied by other customers waiting to be seated. We decided to take a walk to get some fresh air. We returned to the restaurant at 6:55pm to check in. We were informed by the hostess there would be a 15-20 minutes delay due to an "incident" in the kitchen. While waiting to be seated, we noticed customers who were seated still waiting for their food to be delivered. We also noticed how small the venue was. Tables were about 6 inches apart. Don't come here if you like your personal space. Based on what we've noticed and having to wait to be seated after making reservations, we had our reservations cancelled and left. I mulled on this post for a while before I decided to write it, we went there for Valentine's Day. It just was not what we expected from the conversations we had with others. We were a party of 2, no apps, no desserts- an hour and forty five mins to eat. We couldn't read the menus, had to use our phones to download the QR code, I knew what I wanted so my wife sat there on her phone looking at the menu while I just sat there looking like an idiot, it was just a bad atmosphere. Special night print out some menus. No Valentine's Day specials, no unique drinks or offerings- if there was we were not told about it from our scarcely seen waiter, food offering was subpar. Didn't know it was happy hour going on, most likely I didn't see it as I had to navigate the online menu which was trash. Steaks were cooked perfectly, it took forever for food just forever, we had a 6pm seating so it's not like the kitchen was backed up they opened at 5. Place was sweltering hot, very uncomfortable, Really was a disappointment of a dinner. Everything we ordered was amazing. My husband doesn't usually even like salad but he ate all of his here! Everything was hot, cooked to perfection and the all the different flavors worked amazingly together. Definitely recommend coming here as the service and ambiance is also perfect! read more

Ember & Oak is so close to getting it right they just need a few areas addressed and this could be a phenomenal dining experience. It's obvious from the time that you enter the restaurant that they are trying to offer a high end experience. Fine details need to be addressed to achieve this goal. Several finishes throughout the dining room are incomplete many times the patio is not swept and there's a pile of trash behind the bar, the huge stack of chairs and supplies on the side of the bar would be an easy fix. They lack attention to detail that would truly help the ambiance. This last holiday season they had some of the tackiest Christmas decorations I have ever seen and unfortunately left them up till the last week of January. When asked about the happy hour drinks we were told that due to the fact that we were sitting in the dining room we could not get to happy hour prices if we wanted to partake in happy hour we would have to move to the patio. The food was very good I would not say outstanding. I have no problem paying the prices for a good meal however in my opinion they're just behind the curve. With a few tweaks by the chef the food could be more consistent and create an overall satisfying experience. We will go back sometime to see if any improvement has been made. read more
