Took my three somewhat adult kids to El Chilito for dinner the other night, and it was a hit! We grabbed a mix of tacos--carnitas, barbacoa, and a couple of their breakfast tacos (because breakfast for dinner is always a win). We also ordered two vegan tacos made with mushroom, and they were really fantastic. I will be ordering these again when I go back. My kids went crazy over the carne asada burrito, and we all shared some chips and queso. Oh, and the agua fresca? So good! We even got to take the dog, since he was welcome at the outdoor benches. The vibe was super chill with the colorful patio, and the fans kept things breezy despite the Texas heat. The staff was friendly and made sure we had everything we needed, including a snack for the dog. It's a super casual spot, but the flavors are anything but basic. Definitely a family favorite now!

I stopped by here because the general ambiance looked authentic and enjoyable. The menu is extensive and looked like something to get excited about. The prices were steep for tacos but I know it's Austin and that's kinda what to expect. (The lesser known mom and pops/taquerias usually have tacos cheaper than 4 each). I ordered a street corn taco and I had high hopes. It comes with roasted corn, Valentino crema, cotija cheese, and pollo asado. All great things to accompany corn. The total came out to be about $4.50. I waited for about 10 minutes and when I finally tried it, it was so cold. The chicken was poorly seasoned, the sauce might as well have been missing, and the corn did not appear to be roasted, some kernels still stuck together. They do have self serve red and green sauces on the side, but I don't do spicy so that was no saving grace. I was annoyed spending that much on a cold, flavorless taco. Once I was done with my food, I realized there was no trash can! I don't like approaching a food window trash in hand to ask them to toss it for me, so I walked to the back of the spot until I found a landfill trash receptacle. I thought that was pretty weird and inconvenient Pros: - Majority of the seating are picnic table style, so enough for big parties. - I noticed some fellow Hispanics were working on the food, so I appreciated seeing some of my own people making our own food. - self serve water station - large food menu (breakfast all day) with an array of alcoholic beverages (frozen included) - they accept tap-to-pay - free parking Cons: - flavorless and cold taco - no trash bins - steep prices for low quality - restrooms are small and in the back of their building With that being said, I could give this place another chance ordering something else... just with the hopes that the food comes prepared with more flavor and warm.

Needed a quick bite to eat. Grabbed tacos for a few people. Ordered online and picked up in :15 minutes. Staff was friendly and tacos were as ordered. Definitely quick and convenient and all tasted good. Will be back.

El Chillito is a good to neighborhood favorite for me! Whether I am heading out for a breakfast taco, coffee or even a soup they never disappoint. It's a great place to bring your dog (you can hit Alamo Pocket Park after). There are lots of picnic tables to sit at and a decent number of parking spots for those who are not in walking distance. The barbacoa soup may be my favorite soup of all time. There is always a taco of the month. You can also build your own. There is a daily happy hour as well which is a nice perk. The service is always fast and friendly!

Very good food. Service was very fast. The burritos are quite large and definitely can be a full meal by itself. I will be returning, very tasty breakfast burritos.

These breakfast tacos were bomb! I got the Cherrywood and Charlie's Special breakfast tacos. For $4 each, I was happy with the amount of filling the tacos had. They were so good with the green salsa, which was very mild. I appreciate how they have a water jug with cups outside as many taco trucks I've been to don't provide free water. They have plenty of outdoor seating and parking around the restaurant.

Great carne asada plate. Reminds me of the valley food (Rio Grande Valley), which is saying a lot. Great tacos!

The taco stand has a friendly atmosphere and fairly quick wait unless there's a lot of people. Be sure to try the puffy corn taco.

So we were thinking of tacos or Mexican food and my daughter suggested this spot as she had come here with some friends and really enjoyed their sopecitos. I had never had a sopecito! What is that! So we had to try... We were lucky to arrive at the right time (9 pm!) where we got their last table!! Make reservations or something because this is another one of those places that fills up! So- we were taken care of immediately: chips and some very hot salsas were set on the table while we chose. They menu is in QR code format, but we asked and got paper menus as well. Well I got the chicken sopecitos , my daughter got the pork ones and my partner got the meat tacos. Everything was delicious, the food arrived promptly, the portion size was perfect and bountiful and everything was super enjoyable. I really enjoyed trying some New Mexican favorites. Next time I will try some other delicacies since I always get tacos tacos burritos or quesadillas: time for some new items on the menu! Enjoy!

Too much sauce, and it completely drowned out the taste of the crab. My dad got the ancho relleno San Miguel, and I was so jealous. His dish was absolutely divine, incredibly good. I wish I'd ordered that instead. We tried both the watermelon margarita and the house frozen margarita. The watermelon was delicious, but it came in a small glass with a huge ice cube, so for the price you really don't get much drink. I'd order it again if it came in a bigger glass. The house frozen margarita, though, was delicious and strong, and much better value. For dessert, we had the crepas de cajeta. It was tasty, but it came topped with a generous amount of Nutella, which surprised me since the menu mentions caramel, not Nutella. I'd have preferred the caramel, and I'm guessing they may have run out, which would explain the swap. I just wish they'd mentioned it before serving it, since it changed the dish for me. Overall, a great experience and we will definitely be back.
