My experience at el chilito was okay. It is a total hole in the wall but that's where you find the best Mexican. I lived two years in Mexico, so I know a thing or two about Mexican food. It's definitely authentic, but it's just not very flavorful. It was still good, but I won't go out of my way to eat there again. I had te tacos al pastor, and they were pretty good. This authentic fast-Mexican place reminds me of my years in San Diego. Prompt service, good prices, and an authentic feel. The people that work here, but most importantly probably 50% of the people who eat here don't speak English as their first language. Love El Chilito and eat here every time I have the good fortune to be in the area. It's a delicious little "hole in the wall" hidden gem and worth a try for any Mexican food lovers. All I can say is yum, yum yum! Authentic Mexican food and super inexpensive severed with a smile. It is a really small place so actually better for take put because it even gets packed with people waiting for their to go items. I find it is best to phone your order in then pick it up. Excellent food, efficient service. Yes it's small but tables turn over fast and it's worth the wait. I hate disposable dishes and utensils but i wouldn't miss out on this place over that issue. Their food is horrible and most of all their food not fresh and the place is very dirty. I looked in the Back of the restaurant as the chef is cooking my food and he sneezed on the food and kept going! This is my favourite restaurant ever. If your looking for authentic, delicious, Mexican food this is the place. Me and my family go here all the time and have never had a problem. They are usually busy but the wait is worth it. It is a small restaurant but does have outside seating and you can call in your order and pick it up or eat it there. Please try if your in the area. The only two things I get from here are the nachos and the Camarones a la diabla. From my first visit I've asked for the shrimp diabla in a burrito form instead their traditional meal serving. I frequent here at least twice maybe 3 times a month for the last 6 months and the food is consistent and the staff is friendly. Tacos were more expensive and not as good as I had heard about. I was hoping for more with the reviews I had read and heard about. This is the tiniest little Mexican restaurant but the food is HUGE on authentic and delicious!! The food is so good that it's pretty busy so it's best to just call in your order for pick up. My husband and I love the Super Burrito...very tasty plus it is dinner for the both of us for two nights! Prices are very reasonable and the service is excellent. We use to go here often and then stopped for awhile. Well tonight we decided we would call in an order for dinner. Not one thing was correct in our order. At first we thought it was just my daughter's taco so we just gave it to her because it was only missing cheese. Then my husband sits Down and his is missing sauce then I open mine and they aren't the kind of meat so I call to tell them. I was told to bring the food back. Well the whole point of ordering to go is to not have to go back. She told me the only way she could do anything for me is if I could bring the food back. Well you just lost my business you should of made this right. You don't ask a customer to bring back an order after they have left. Bad bad customer service. Absolutely ridiculous. read more

It pains me to give El Chilito only three stars but unfortunately, that's all it deserves. 1) It's SOOOOO slow! OMG, how long does it take to make an enchilada?! I've waited 20-30 minutes when ordering a burrito, or taco, or enchilada... It's ridiculous. 2) Often when you call ahead to get a jump on the wait, no one will answer the phone. 3) The food can be quite inconsistent from one day to the next. 4) It's closed on Mondays. On the plus side: 1) It's a heckuva good value. 2) WHEN THE FOOD IS GOOD, it's excellent! I used to eat there quite regularly but stopped because it's too much of a hassle. read more

El Chilito is the best Mexican food in Canby. That's not saying a lot but this place is awesome! My boyfriend always gets the shredded beef hard tacos. It's authentic desebrada. I get the ceviche whenever they have it and the tostadas mixtas when they don't. Their beans and rice are delicious too. They get really busy around lunch time. read more

I have gone into this place twice. Both times, I tried to order a bacon breakfast burrito with NO EGG. Both times, my burrito came to me and was full of, guess what: EGG! I cannot eat eggs. I specifically request my food to not have eggs on it, and they smother it in eggs. I will NOT EVER be coming back to this place.
