Such an amazing experience here! The views are gorgeous, food was good and different, but the service was absolutely top notch. From start to finish they made our dining experience more than just a nice dinner out. Our server, Nicholas, went out of his way to make sure our kids had a fantastic night-to include making chicken fingers for our youngest that was not even on the menu! He helped with menu selection, but also gave us great ideas of things to do and places to see nearby. We tried the black margarita which was fun and different! So so disappointed in this restaurant. While the views were incredible and the servers were kind and funny, the food fell flat in every way, with some aspects bordering on disgusting. The corn and shrimp soups were probably the best and only good parts of the meal. The crab tacos appetizer was also pretty good but not amazing, a bit lacking in flavor. But the entrees were actively not good. I tried to order one thing but they mixed up the order and instead brought me grilled shrimp, which they insisted was better than what I had originally ordered--it was definitely not. It was just very plain shrimp and vegetables with no flavoring at all, and then a weird side of spaghetti that also managed to not taste like anything. My partner had potatoes mixed with ketchup as his side. I was so so disappointed given the amount of money we paid to eat here. I would never come back. read more

Very beautiful! Staff was very nice and accommodating. They have a couple of smaller courses before your main dish was served which added to the experience. Picturesque views of the water, great music being played. We were catered from start to finish. If you want an elegant dining experience, book your reservation here. We opted to sit inside at the window to get a good view and it was like sitting outside. The food was very good and the portion sizes were just enough. Loved the sorbet dessert...I think that's what it was . When we come back, definitely will diner here again. Due to a delay in our shuttle ride from the airport to the resort, we ended up staying in on our first night in Cabo. A quick call to El Ciruelo and we were able to secure a reservation for that night. We had planned on eating there during our stay as a fancy way of staying so this worked out perfectly. The location of the restaurant brought along beautiful views of the resort and the ocean. Service was attentive and detailed. The food was above average. Dinner took a few hours because each dish took some time to come out. We are also given a few complimentary dishes such as chips and with a pumpkin seed dip, ceviche, and sorbet. I tried the beet salad and ordered the seafood orzo pasta for my entree. The flavors of both were solid. I got the cadillac margarita to drink and it wasn't worth the extra cost for the better tequila. Maybe because tequila is not really my favorite. A couple of people in my group got the frozen moijito and that was delicious! The cocktail menu across the resort is the same so plenty of time for me to have the mojito! Overall a good experience, but pricey since it is fancy dining at the resort. read more

Nice high end resort dining El Ciruelo is the showcase restaurant at the Westin Los Cabos with spectacular views overlooking the resort and the ocean. The service is exemplary (though some might consider 'attentive and well paced' to be too slow). In addition to the courses we ordered there were a number of amuse bouches served through the meal including a delightful tamarind sorbet. The food was more or less what one could expect from a fine dining resort restaurant (with one glaring exception). Reasonably flavorful, nothing too spicy or adventurous, a bit heavy, and at the end of the day nothing to write home about. Standouts were the roasted corn soup and mushroom creamy rice and the oxtail and guac with steak were perfectly fine. The glaring exception was the sea bass which had been hammered to a crisp (literally). With a hard crust and completely bereft of moisture the fish was basically inedible. Prices were surprisingly reasonable given the location and the drinks were tasty. All in all, I wouldn't hesitate to dine here again on a future visit. read more

The staff is very attentive and accommodating- we shared a sea bass which was beautifully presented. The food was very mediocre. The shrimp dish (can't remember the name) tasted rubbery and weird. The chocolate cake was honestly one of the worst, the churros had to be returned because they were so dry, it was like eating cereal. My friend got shrimp balls and they had an extremely off texture to them. Very overpriced place for what the food was. First, the service was great. We walked in no reservation, which, if you want to eat outside is a must. They actually sat us outside after calling to make sure their reservation guests would actually show up. The wine list is ok but we have noticed none of the wine lists are great in Cabo. We did have a bottle that was fine. The food was AMAZING. We are very picky so that's saying something. We started with the beet salad. Very good. Would pick again. Great balance of flavors. We had the seafood pasta and the sea bass. Both items were big enough to share. The pasta was really good but the sea bass was the star. It was on a bed of risotto and cooked perfectly. This is a strong 4 Star Restaurant. After seeing two negative reviews I almost made it 5 stars but then I felt I really have to be honest it's just not five-star restaurant. Given the expensive location in Los Cabos this price is surprisingly fair. But fair will still cost you a lot of money. Once you realize it's going to happen you still might enjoy it, you should. We did. The service could not have been any better. There were three or four different waiters that work constantly coming to make certain everything was A-OK. There is one odd thing, and I'm not sure if it only happens in Mexico or if I've seen it elsewhere. It is seems somewhat familiar a little déjà vu but I'm not certain. I have been to many great restaurants where I was given both respect and service. But it seems that when it's time to get the bill in Mexico I can never find anybody. I've been to 10 different restaurant in Mexico and the majority of them seem to be hard to find when it's time to receive the bill. It is almost the opposite of a restaurant that wants to kick you out as soon as they can so they can fill the table up again. Not a terrible complain just suggesting the differences. Every item we ordered were wonderful but the Black Bean Soup was outstanding. I have eaten here at least five times now and it keeps on getting better. The only downside was the ice cream. Not bad but not at the same level as the rest of our choices. I do love the fact that this restaurant is right at our hotel. It is so nice to be able to leave my room and have this beautiful place so close. In addition if you have read my reviews about Westin Los Cabos you will know cabs can be very expensive in this area. Many of the restaurants I've gone to when using a cab cost me $50 one way. So staying here and not having to pay for a cab is just one more nice thing when going to this restaurant. Although my wife and I like to go to different types of restaurants we would not be unhappy if this was the only restaurant in town. read more

Really good food. We went twice so far. I had sea bass and my husband had grilled shrimp with creamed spinach and veggies. They were both delicious but the shrimp was better. We had the Mexican Prosecco. It was reasonable ($8 I think) and very good. The view is great. We ate inside just for the air conditioning ( same great view). The second time and I had a lamb appetizer dish and black bean soup. My husband had fried calamari. All were very good. The shrimp is jumbo. We don't get jumbo shrimp that often so the shrimp is still the winner! Thanks for the dessert for our anniversary! read more

I had high hopes for El Ciruelo, and it most definitely did not disappoint. If you are looking for an amazing dining experience, this restaurant is absolutely worth every cent! My family and I entered excited to try this restaurant, located in a prime spot where you are able to see the ocean. Once seated, we were greeted by our amazing waiter Cirilo. He was extremely attentive and an absolute pleasure! We started our dining experience with a complimentary bread basket. The bread was warm and delicious. There was a spicy spread inside, and it provided the tastiest kick to the pán! The bread came with chocolate almond butter...I was surprised by how good it was. To our surprise, we were subsequently brought a complimentary amuse-bouche, which is like a bite-sizes appetizer created by the chef. They change it daily. Ours was a delicious piece of crispy chicken on top of an orange sauce. Divine! They also gave us plantain chips with a delicious pumpkin salsa. Refined Mexican flavors! Next came the tortilla soups that we ordered. If you are not used to spice, this might not be for you. However, my family is Mexican, so the soup's spice level was PERFECT! The layer of cheese on top was excellent. After our appetizers, we were pleasantly greeted with a palate cleanser! This was a fruit punch sorbet. It effortlessly took away the taste of tortilla soup from our mouths and prepared us for our main course. It was smooth, fruity, and a wonderful treat. The beef filet was our entree. The filet was soft and cooked perfectly, with excellent flavor. The mushrooms on the side were delicious as well. The filet was on top of a corn tamale - DELICIOUS!! I've had plenty of tamales in my lifetime, but this one was one of the best. For dessert, my family ordered the churros. These were soft on the inside, and crunchy on the outside. The ice cream was divine. We ordered coffee to compliment the churros and it was soooo good! My pictures do not do the food or experience of El Ciruelo justice. Disclaimer: previous review have said service was slow. It wasn't. That is part of the experience. They give you time to digest and enjoy the experience of dining, and after eating all of this amazing food I didn't feel overwhelmingly full - their intended timing is perfect. We had a negative recommendation from a family member who had been here a few weeks earlier, but we were tired one night and thought we'd try it, since we were staying at Baja Point. Nope. Took very close to the end of my 15 minute max waiting time to be greeted at the table and asked for drinks. And went downhill from there. They clearly are understaffed; even 1 more server would have made a difference, as there are not that many tables. It IS a great location and view. Maybe it's a COVID thing, but clearly a limited menu and almost no wine list - 4 very mediocre S. American wines to choose from at the time and very few mixed drinks; I could see that most of the liquor shelves were empty at the bar. The food was OK, but compared to previous meals in the Cabo area, just nowhere close. My wife's filet was very undercooked at initial serving; the bride at the table closest to us had to send her steak back 3 times - reminded me of the scene in No Reservations (the movie)! The server was trying, it was just too much for him and clearly he couldn't control the kitchen and bar issues. The experience probably was really a 2, but because the food was not bad and the server was trying I went with a 5. This really seems like a situation where the resort is not ready to have this be open, but it is a great location so they have opened it anyway. It was pretty busy most of the nights we were there. We celebrated my wife's birthday tonight at El Ciruelo...it was memorable! The evening was perfect with a beautiful outdoor table prepared for our 6 pm reservation as we watched the sunset. We order beet salad, creamed corn soup, sea bass and roasted cauliflower. For dessert, we finished with coconut flan and yummy churros. In between courses, we were also served chips/salsa, small soup, bread, coconut sorbet and amaranth chocolates. Attentive waitstaff and a nice pace for dinner! After reading some reviews, I was a bit nervous to try El Ciruelo. If I could leave a TEN star review, I would, because this restaurant was fantastic! I would recommend getting there early and having a drink on the adjoining outdoor patio overlooking the ocean....the views are magnificent! Once we were seated for dinner, the wait staff was friendly, attentive, and very helpful when it came to what to order. Our party had the sea bass, the salmon, and the chicken, and everyone LOVED their meals! Our waiter, Edgar, surprised us with some special treats before our meal, and he and the staff were very attentive throughout our dinner. The view was beautiful..... we ordered the Cesar salad and beet salad. My fiancé did not like that they grilled the Cesar salad so he returned it. I ordered the salmon with grilled veggies and potatoes which was really good. He ordered the seafood pasta with shrimp and scallops. He said the pasta was delicious except there were no scallops? We told the waiter and he said they were chopped up very small. We continue to look for the scallops and told him there were none in there but he did nothing to fix the situation. When we received the bill the bill was incorrect so we had to return it several times until it was correct. Overall the food is good except for the mistakes and we were never able to talk to a manager or even the chef. I am not sure if we will return or not. read more

If you like food with no flavor and you like to eat in the dark, then this is the pace foe you. We arrived at 7pm and the sun was slowly setting. The waiter brought a small dish with a thick mud like salsa accompanied by a handful of chips. There were six people in our party and the chips ran out before the salsa. When we asked for more chips, the waiter told us No and that it was one per table. The tortilla soup tasted like a can of Campbell's tomato soup with reconstituted stale corn chip strips and topped with a layer of melted cheese. No flavor. Then the waiter brought us a complimentary meat taco but it looked like a half bite size taquito topped with cilantro and onions. No flavor. I ordered the sea bass. The fish was fresh and moist but had no real flavor. My husband ordered the shrimp al pastor. It was a pretty presentation but no heat and little flavor. My daughter ordered the filet medium rare. It came out medium with most of the inside brown. Again, flavor was missing. My other daughter ordered the seafood pasta. There was a good amount of seafood but the pasta was too watery like they didn't drain the pasta before plating it. There was flavor in this entree but there was too much salt. No balance in the flavor. When I go to a high end restaurant I expect to have all of my senses fulfilled. I was heavily disappointed. read more

Pretty view, okay food. This is the "high end" restaurant option at The Westin Los Cabos resort. Cesar salad - tasted off. The dressing isn't a traditional Cesar dressing. I saw another review said they grill the salad or something...maybe that was what made it taste odd. Seafood carbonara - good flavor and lots of seafood. However, the sauce was more like soup than it was an actual cream sauce. I probably would have added salt or pepper if there was some available. The steaks looked like they were good. Someone in my party had a filet. She asked for it medium rare and it came out medium, but otherwise she seemed to like it. Drinks were forgettable. The churros were good but they were pretty crunchy. Ladies, if you come here and want to sit outside make sure to bring a hair tie. It is very windy in the evening. read more

Beautiful view and restaurant. The service was good for the most part until the end. The tortilla soup and calamari were good. Drinks...ehhh... fair. Had we stopped before eating before our entrees I'd given them 3 stars. The food here is like a lot of cruise ship food... lackluster, dull, and lacking refinement. The seabass was ok although the risotto was muddied by too many mushrooms. My husbands shrimp was ok and his mashed potatoes ok however his side of roasted cherry tomatoes wer not roasted nor were they sweet. My moms seafood pasta was AWFUL. It was void of any flavor, no salt, no garlic,....it literally tasted like pasta water. When my mom asked for more sauce she was laughed at nervously by our waiter and never brought more sauce. We were wanting dessert but decided to hold off after trying my moms pasta. The service was slow but good except near the end when I literally had to go to the hostess stand to ask for our Check again after waiting 15 min since we asking the first time We let our server know we were not pleased with our experience and he asked we let the chef know on the comment card. By then I had lost my patience so I skipped leaving feedback. This truly is the worst fine dining restaurant I've ever eaten at that was associated with the Westin. This was our first dinner in Cabo, and I must say that they didn't disappoint! We visited right after Christmas, so the ambience was perfect! They had the dim lighting with the Christmas music, And it really put me in vacation mode! Not to even mention the service was impeccable, and the food was amazing! We had the tortilla soup with a ceviche app, and I couldn't say enough about them! And my organic chicken had to be the best I have have ever had in my entire life! Literally took 25 mins before we could order drinks then another 40 mins before they took our food order. To top it all off the bugs are terrible on the patio. Massive flying beetles attracted to the lights at night. Many landing in your food. The food was mediocre and nothing special. Lacked seasoning and flavor. Total took almost 3 hrs from start to finish to eat our meal, entirely too long for a restaurant that the Westin boasts is five star fine dining with reservation only. Wont be back. We come to Cabo at least two times s year. In the past, We've made it a point to eat here at least once each trip. Last night was a HUGE disappointment. The servers and staff were great ( you can't blame servers for kitchen issues!) but the food was just OK and we waited 45 minutes for our entrees. We did love the watermelon salad but entrees were unimpressive. The seafood in the seafood pasta was considerably over cooked. The skirt steak was not cooked to the temp ordered but was OK. The table next to us had similar issues, with one entree being seriously undercooked. They sent it back only for it to be re-served still underdone. The restaurant refused to take it off the bill, even though it was not eaten. Won't go back. read more
