Looks good but taste like crap, that's why the flies inside the restaurant loves it

This place does not have enough workers and the food is old and nasty, there are a bunch of flies waiting for the food to arrives and attack it, there is no way to stop them

Hidden off the highway one block, by the surf store. Excellent Mexican food with a focus on seafood. But definitely don't stop just at the ceviche shrimp tower, read the back page! Started with the salsa and beans. Medium hot, and the beans were flavorful. Not too salty. I had the birria, which was remarkable. Less consume and more intense flavors than some styles. Also had the carne asada sope, a little art project as well. The meats were a touch salty, and the asada not quite seared. The shrimp tower was great, firm clean taste on the shrimp and the tomatoes were surprisingly fresh and tasty. There were 3 sauces including one that was very hot. Takeaways- great service and a fast kitchen. The right level of staff attention. The ambiance is straight strip mall, so no surprise there. Take your time on the menu. Probably 3-4 visits to really get the whole span. Portions were huge, 1 sope could be a meal. You could have split these 2 mains and a side for 3 hungry people. Definitely stop by if you have any time at all.

What's up Yelpies !!!!! If you're traveling the 101 and want real authentic Mexican food lk no further. The service is first class and the vibe is chill and then you order the food and it comes out fast and hot with soooooo much SABOR (flavor) You would think they stole your abuelita's recipes

El Cora is the best Mexican restaurant in the area. The Molcajete is delicious and huge! The staff are very attentive and super nice. We also had the ceviche as an appetizer and it was excellent! I'd highly recommend El Cora if you're near Garberville.

This place is a strong 4. The waitress was solo but she did a great job. Salsa was good and there was a warm bean dip served with the chips that is worth trying to copy. I had the chile verse and it was delicious as were the beans and rice. Coffee was good and the aquas Fresca watermelon flavor was not to be missed. My husband had the chile relleno plate and his only complaint was that he ate it all and was too full. Worth the stop! Some things are not on the menu so ask

So stopped in here while on the road and the staff is great and super nice , there was a walk in wedding party of 30! And they still made everything work out! The flautas are amazing so are the crunchy carnitas tacos ! Also salsa and bean dip comes with the chips !

The servers insisted that a drunk woman called to place the order, insinuating in front of other customers that I was being dishonest.

I wish this didn't happen because I genuinely like El Cora. Last week, I placed an order over the phone while sitting alone in my truck. The server read the order back to me. When my girlfriend and I got home, nearly half our order was missing. I called back to notify the staff and they graciously offered to fix the mistake. The server also apologized and told me their staff "was a bit off" that night. Today, I redeemed the offer. While the restaurant did comp the missing food (plus some sides, to be fair), the server implied that the error was my fault ("very drunk party") and that I was lying about placing the order myself. I'm sober and I'm honestly insulted by the situation. I am a local resident and I order $60-$80 meals from El Cora at least twice per month. I really wish this wasn't my interaction, but it's unacceptable for restaurant staff to make incorrect accusations to a regular customer. Mistakes happen, but I've worked in service and this is not how mistakes are handled. I'm attaching my call log. 7:20p call was to place the order, 8:27p was my call to notify the restaurant of the mistake.

When we entered we were told to grab a menu and seat ourselves. Well, we sat and we sat. I finally went inside and asked for service. I was told that we had to use the QR code. I hadn't noticed it on the other end of the table. One friend's phone wasn't set up for that, another's phone was in the car and the other said that she is 80. I figured I could do it for the group. However, ordering drinks was time consuming and we wanted to get our order in. When we got our food, there were 2 orders for shrimp tacos. I thought I ordered the rockfish tacos as they were the only tacos listed on the menu. Luckily they weren't allergic to shellfish because the deliverer was not taking them back or taking our drink order. My clam chowder was not hot and very salty. I didn't realize that my friend at our table brought us water. I didn't know that she filled them herself or I would have gone in to refill as I had nothing to drink with my soup How do you tip when there is no service? What about the 5 reviews? Did they get any service? To sum up we got our own menus and water, we found our own seats and waited for ages before I went in to ask to order. Then I was told I had to order for the group with the QR code. Never having done it before I mistakenly ordered the wrong item. My fault. We never had any service interaction. Who do you even tip. (Note : we did leave a tip). Going to a fun restaurant involves interacting with the staff. In fact I didn't order what I wanted because I had a question.

Our service was 5 star which helped since we were exhausted. I have a super strong recommendation for the Cali 101 sandwich. It might be one of the sandwiches I've ever had. The fried parmesan on the tops of the bread sealed the deal. My wife asked for a custom burger. Mind you, the kitchen was closing but chef pulled off a beautiful dish. I don't normally photo food but wish I did. My wife goes bun-less and they served the dish on a bed of spinach (which she requested and they had to dig for it). To do all that as the kitchen is closing says something. They could have just thrown it on top. I am completely stealing that one. I love amber ale and they make a good one. I hope we can squeeze one last visit in before we leave.

On top of that, the atmosphere was incredible -- even the people around us were interactive and engaged in conversation despite us not knowing each other. The whole night was filled with great energy, shared laughs, and an overall memorable experience.

September 11, 2025 - Fortuna, CA…read more Walking distance from our RV park, we decided to give this restaurant a try. We came in early on a Thursday and were greeted with attentive, cheerful service. Seated in a comfortable booth, we were quickly brought menus and warm garlic bread. The restaurant itself has a welcoming, relaxed vibe. The drink special was a blueberry martini, and it turned out to be both beautiful and delicious. For dinner, we decided to split the lasagna and added an extra dinner salad, along with a bottle of Robert Mondavi Cabernet to share. Both the salad and lasagna were enjoyable, and the wine paired nicely with the meal. By the time we were finishing up, the restaurant was starting to fill, so we were glad we opted for an early dinner.

It's a very comfortable atmosphere with nice music playing in the background. They have a full bar as well as some limited bar seating. We decided to split the lasagna, which comes with a dinner salad. They have a five dollar split charge, which we are always happy to pay to have our meals come out on two separate plates. We also ordered a separate dinner salad. We also ordered a bottle of the Robert Mondavi black label Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon to go with the meal. Everything, including the martinis, dinner, salads, and lasagna we're very tasty. The Robert Mondavi wine was a good pairing for the lasagna.

We had dinner here the first night and got their special salmon, fried avocado, and fried mozzarella. The salmon was super moist and flavorful. The fried avocado was the biggest hit for the table. The avocado was ripe and breaded and fried to perfection. We had some fried mozzarella sticks with a good cheese pull, while others were not that great. We also had breakfast here the next morning. I got the biscuits and gravy. The biscuits were not dry, which I really appreciated. It was a lot of food with not much variety in flavor to eat for an entire meal. I'd definitely recommend splitting this with the group. There is a different price with the casino players card + you're given coupons everyday for breakfast. While the restaurant is spacious, there weren't enough workers to open up the entire restaurant. I'd definitely recommend getting here early if you want to be seated in the first group of customers.
