Super disappointed with this place. My Mom was in town and I raved about how good their food is, especially their pupusas. I take my Mom and the server was short with us and didn't even bother to converse with us, even though they were really really slow. There was no one else in the restaurant and the server did not care that we were there. We even made the attempt to talk with the server and let them in on the fact that we were trying to have fun but on a budget, but got nothing but a cold reaction and a fake chuckle. We get the bill and I ended up being DOUBLE charged for my drink just because I did not get it in a margarita. Mind you: same tequila, same shot size... Just charged double. Why? I do not know because the server decided to cop an attitude when I asked them. Then, the server sent over someone else to collect our check and to give me my receipt. I have never, in my life, zero'd out a tip... Well, today was the first time. I was embarrassed that I chose this spot and I, most likely, will not be bringing any guests that come in to town to visit. Server was very short answered. First Salvadoran restaurant that doesn't serve their authentic breakfast. My mom gave it a try and ordered a dessert it was very empty. First time here, I ordered there pupusa breakfast with eggs and fried Bananas with sour cream, it took them almost an hour to wait for our food not to mention the waitress kept passing us up to ask for more water like she didn't even care if I kept asking her excuse me, excuse me, she kept ignoring me and she was almost like a robot in a trace, this guy in front of me just sat down and she was catering to him right away, and he got his food before me! I told myself in my mind " No tip for her today" I finally got my food, it did not have any flavor had to drench it with there salsa sauce, the pupusas were bland no flavor either, the only thing on my plate was the fried bananas with sour cream was the only thing that tasted good, I still think Platanos restaurant in Berkeley hands down is way better there pupusas are super tasty and there other menu items are real good and there waiters treat people with respect and are more attentive and friendly to there customers. read more

Horrible customer service from the "cook" guy who answered the phone! I ordered the same plate I have been ordering from this restaurant just to get back home to find they completely took out my favorite side l, the refried beans. They charged me the same amount yet decided all of a sudden they will be charging extra on the side. He gave me all kinds of bs excuses as to why this happened and that they wouldn't be giving me any side even though it's included in the meal. They are just stealing money now and thwn had the audacity to try and blame the pay8ng customer for their mistakes?! This was my worst experience in this restaurant, and my first visit. We walked in No one greeted us. The tables were dirty. We were then told to sit anywhere. Omg their pupusas are amazing! I'm Salvadorian so I know a good pupusa when I try one! They are super close to home and I love the employees there I never have a problem! Except one time I placed a large order on a Friday evening and they had all pupusas together and I asked them to separate it and once I got home I realized they had messed up on one order which it's hard to tell to separate everything after they had already put it together and they take it back to put them in their own boxes I should have double checked before I left but other then that their food is delicious!! read more

This place used to be a bad run place named NOYA. The new owners have really steeped up and fixed the place up. The food is delicious and the drinks are very refreshing. We watched the NBA finals in a big screen projector in a different room that they set up. Karaoke, dancing on different nights. Would definitely be back and would recommend others to come. read more

We waited quite some time to be seated for a restaurant that has a second room (which they open a few minutes after we arrive) to some other customers. The food was below average. Cold. The waitress' were not friendly.... brought out our food in groups... meaning 2 plates every 10 minutes.. which meant we didn't get to eat together. I love the fact that there's an event space with activities for people of all ages. No where else in San Pablo can you have open mic, salsa dance, paint night, and kids' activities under one roof. The food is also tasty with attentive customer service. I highly recommend El Cuscatlan! read more

I have been going here for many yrs but lately the customer service leaves alot to be desired the waiters are extremely rude they ignore you when you are standing in line waiting to be seated not to mention trying to call to place an order either they NEVER answer or they leave you on hold and walk away from the phone. I have always ordered the new York steak plate with refried beans and rice and have ,NEVER been told there would be a charge for either. The last time I ordered it they had 1 small container of beans which they wanted to charge me $3.40 for totally REDICIOULOUS they made no mention of that to me when I placed the order. Also I ordered a pupusa con Zucchini y queso all it had was masa and queso. The quality of the food and customer service have decreased immensely. Additionally they will IMPOSE a gratuity to the bill regards of the service they give. It's sad that a salvadorean restaurant would treat people like this. We loved the carne asada, the refries and rice. The platanos with crema and refries was excellent. The food and atmosphere were better than other Salvadoran restaurants we've been to in the area. It has a dance room "Rumba Club" on Saturdays, and a small bar. There is a good variety of local and Central American beers, and many special mixed drinks. The menu has is a lot of variety, with many Salvadoran specialties. We did not know beforehand that Cuscatlan is an ancient name for El Salvador, so expected Mexican food. Worst place ever!!!! I used to order from them all the time. Had family come in from LA and ordered Pupusas revueltas... tasted like old chukiado pork. The yucca con chicharon was meh!! The yucca was so salty could not even eat it. Called to let them know what happened with our order and was told that she had no clue what was wrong with the food and that they use the freshest products. Did not even offer to take all our food back and perhaps remake the order or at least the crap that tasted like old ass pork that got mixed with their freshest products. PORK is not something you mess with!! For sure will let everyone know never to order from here. Their attitude about it was as horrible as the food. I remember how kind and good quality food they had when they first opened and when nobody would order from them. Treat your customers kindly and they will be back. Hope nobody gets sick from their "fresh pork" and especially my kid who threw up right after she ate their crap food. Well, where should I start. I wanted to order a breakfast plate which was after hours. However, the waiter stated he would charge an additional fee for the plate. I told him never mind. I finally decided to order 2 Pupusa and the fried plantain plate. The same waiter stated I could not order the Pupusa unless I ordered the plates típicos. I told him never mind. Your dishes were pretty good and I don't have problem with the dining part of your restaurant. My only issue is that the club plays the music too loud. I manage the Abella Vista complex next to your establishment. And the Homeowners'Assosciation would appreciate It if you don't play your music too loud. The service is a one star. The place was empty when we walked and the club side. The waiter were smoking near the front door. My husband asked them to stop smoking and they ignored him. The young lady took my order and brought half the order back correctly. The sopa de pata was super salty, the plate I order for my son, I pointed with my finger to the pictured displayed in the menu for the New York Steak well done and asked for no salad with a substitute for beans. In addition, I ordered two beans and cheese Pupusa, also a carne asada well done plate. The waitress returned with two Pupusa mixed with pork, medium rare carne asada and well done carne asada, also did I mention that the Sopa de puta was salty like sardines. I was not going to return any of the food until my son said my all the meat is red and the two Pupusa were completely filled with pork and half cooked. I have been here before but this was the absolutely the worse service. After waiting another 30 minutes for my son's food and 25 minutes for a refill on two drinks, got up to ask for a second fork and napkins.
