I enjoyed a delicious mango salad with cherry tomatoes, avocado, and roasted almonds , paired with a lovely glass of Benziger Chardonnay wine. Fresh, colorful, and absolutely delicious! The mushroom pizza was equally wonderful, crispy, flavorful, and impossible to stop eating. A special thank you to Jean, who provided outstanding service and made the experience even more enjoyable. Visiting my former neighbors and friends in Sonoma and they recommended this place. All I can say is it was very well done!! Nice dining room, outdoor seating well as indoor. The patio where we sat was awesome. Our waiter was a great guy, cannot remember his first name, ugh, but really friendly, knowledgeable, great waiter. I can remember we talked about the E Coast and his tattoos. I always try to strike conversation with people at the venue, especially those that serve tables. One thing, my heart and props go to anyone that can serve the public and do it with a smile. In this day and age everyone is so demanding, and its nice to always..always thank and acknowledge those that make your experience the best. So fist to the chefs/ cooks that made our food...great job, second to our waiter and the management staff that came over to our table, thank you!~ I will say I ordered a Reuben, I was somewhat hesitant only because the last 3 Reubens I have had at other restaurants in the SF Bay area have been horrific. So the waiter told me, you will really like this Reuben and he was totally 150% spot on. It was cooked and plated to perfection. The bread was perfect, not soggy and there was perfect amount of dressing and perfect amount of kraut and Swiss and I cannot say enough about it. My friends had the hamburger and the chicken salad, both saying that it was excellent. This restaurant came highly recommended by a local friend, so we made reservations--and I'm glad we did. We started at the bar, which, despite its small size, felt warm and welcoming. The staff immediately made us feel at home, and the space even brought to mind Duarte's Tavern in Pescadero, just on a more intimate scale. Once our table was ready in the dining room, we were seated promptly. Our server, Amy, was wonderful--friendly, attentive, and well-paced throughout the evening. I ordered the salmon, which was perfectly cooked and full of flavor. My date chose the cappellini pomodoro; while it was fine, it didn't quite stand out compared to the rest of the experience. Overall, the quality of service and atmosphere made a strong impression. I can easily see us returning--either to enjoy dinner again or to grab a seat at the bar. There's something so charming about this place that brings a smile to my face every time. The bar area is cute for a drink or appetizer and feels right out of a movie set. For dinner, you have to call to make a reservation. They're not on the apps. I've had drinks/appetizers here a few times and dinner here twice. Their calamari is some of the best I've had, and I love the sauces they put on it. Last time we had the crème brûlée for dessert and I could have eaten an entire one to myself it was so good. I had the butternut squash ravioli and personally it was far too oily and sweet for me, but I'm still giving five stars, as everything else my husband and I have had here is wonderful. read more

The place was decked out in Christmas decorations, simply beautiful and festive. The service was friendly and prompt, and the food was fantastic! I ended up getting the special, which was Pot Roast, mashed potatoes, veggies and gravy. It was delicious, moist, and a generously sized portion. The place was very was very old-fashioned and unique. I love the decor. I sat outside and it was very comfortable. The weight staff were very friendly and helpful We ended up taking our food to go because we had an appointment at a winery and needed to get going. We ordered the Chinese chicken salad unfortunately they put the dressing on and then also had a side of dressing. The salad was quite soggy and I did not like the taste of it. Last few meals at Swiss Hotel restaurant have been terrible. This past Saturday we took friends for lunch. We all had their specials. I had a spinach and chicken salad. Chicken was a small piece of breast and very dry just on top of spinach leaves. Nothing fancy and yet even chicken was dry. My friend had veal scallopini special. Her dish arrived with spaghetti in a rich sauce slopped on top of veal that had more breading than actual meat. The margarita pizza looked plain and tasteless even under cooked dough. The last time I was here for dinner had eggplant parmigiana and it had more red onion slopped on top of it than actual eggplant! This restaurant is not one of the better Sonoma restaurants unfortunately. Fun for drinks and ambiance. read more

Met up with a friend at 5:30 on a weeknight. We were seated immediately, which was great. I can't recall our server's name, but she was perfect! It was a great balance of good service, but not "so much service" that we kept getting interrupted. My friend had the fried chicken special. I didn't get a photo, but it looked scrumptious!!! There was plenty for another meal - servings are generous, here. I had the beef stroganoff special. I've never ordered stroganoff at a restaurant, that I can recall, but this dish is absolutely DELICIOUS! I'm so happy I ordered what I did! Worst dining experience at this location. first the hostess seemed puzzled when I asked her for a table for four. then when she seated us, she didn't provide a menu until we asked the waiter for one. The restaurant was not busy and there were several tables available. My husband ordered a hamburger which included bacon in the middle. hours after eating this and it being the only thing he ate all day, he experienced horrific food poisoning. upon flagging the restaurant about this, they refused to acknowledge any fault or consideration to removing this particular item from their menu. The Swiss Hotel is a hotel, sort of. I've never stayed at the hotel, with its 5 guest rooms, but I've eaten many times at the Swiss Hotel's restaurant. First, there are 3 different areas to eat. The much coveted seating on the Square. With 8 or so tables and the park across the street, it's the best people watching spot on the Square. Then there is the very pretty and elegant formal dining room. Your 3rd seating choice is the lovely patio in back, complete with a fireplace for winter ambience. The same menu is shared by all. One of my favorite dishes (only available at lunch time) is their fried chicken sandwich. The chicken breast which is nearly 1/2 an inch thick is breaded and fried to tender, then topped with a most delicious Asian slaw that has just the perfect amount of sweetness to go with the nice salt in the chicken, all set on a delicious and soft brioche bun. Truly a delight to the taste buds. Ironically the "Swiss" Hotel restaurant is known for its delicious Italian food. The service is always great, you're treated like family. I can honestly say I've never had a bad meal or a bad experience at the Swiss Hotel. I highly recommend it. read more

My husband and I had a wonderful dinner last night at the Swiss Restaurant Hotel. We've passed this place many times and finally decided to check it out. We ate outside on the back patio, and it was perfect. The weather was great, service was attentive, and the food was yummy. Attended an event here and was really impressed by the space and the friendliness of the people who did not mind that I wanted to look around in parts of the restaurant and bar that were not yet open (she could have easily said no, come back later). This has been our go-to for birthdays and special dinners for 40 years! But it's not the same. Service is off, food is not as good, just lack luster. Came here on a Saturday afternoon for my elderly mom's birthday. Not that busy but oh boy so many things wrong. I mentioned to the host it was her bday so they could surprise her with her scoop of ice cream after lunch. First, our appetizer never came. Then suddenly, a staff person came over and started taking our silverware away. I had to tell him we hadn't eaten yet. Turns out he was bringing her ice cream before our meal. I mentioned to him that we hadn't eaten and never received our appetizer. He apologized and went back to check. Later, our meals arrived delivered by person number four at this point. Still no appetizer. Then our server came over and asked if we still wanted it saying she had put the ticket in, not sure why it never arrived. Shouldn't she have been paying attention to her table? The kids wanted it so it came out a bit later. And it tasted awful!!! Rancid garlic bread with no garlic. My son's seafood pasta was lacking in um seafood. Pretty disappointing for $30+. Like four pieces of seafood. He said it tasted fine so had at it. My mom's pasta was supposed to be butter, garlic and cheese. No cheese to be found. Asked server when she eventually came by and she said it was her job to put the cheese on. So did after my mom had eaten half of it. And the garlic was burnt. Blah. My pizza and salad were good so there is that. But I never got a water. Everyone else did. Kind of strange. Ice cream came with a comment from the server "It's on the house. Got to get something for something." ‍ Bill finally came so put my card in. Took forever for anyone to take it but we did have three different staff ask how things were. And two different ones got us boxes for leftovers. Feels like service is scattered and no one is really paying attention to tables. Instead of having like six people juggle a table seems it would be more efficient to have two people so they can ensure everything is taken care of. For a $200 meal with no alcohol I would expect more. read more
