Visiting my former neighbors and friends in Sonoma and they recommended this place. All I can say is it was very well done!! Nice dining room, outdoor seating well as indoor. The patio where we sat was awesome. Our waiter was a great guy, cannot remember his first name, ugh, but really friendly, knowledgeable, great waiter. I can remember we talked about the E Coast and his tattoos. I always try to strike conversation with people at the venue, especially those that serve tables. One thing, my heart and props go to anyone that can serve the public and do it with a smile. In this day and age everyone is so demanding, and its nice to always..always thank and acknowledge those that make your experience the best. So fist to the chefs/ cooks that made our food...great job, second to our waiter and the management staff that came over to our table, thank you!~ I will say I ordered a Reuben, I was somewhat hesitant only because the last 3 Reubens I have had at other restaurants in the SF Bay area have been horrific. So the waiter told me, you will really like this Reuben and he was totally 150% spot on. It was cooked and plated to perfection. The bread was perfect, not soggy and there was perfect amount of dressing and perfect amount of kraut and Swiss and I cannot say enough about it. My friends had the hamburger and the chicken salad, both saying that it was excellent. So if you happen to cruise on over to Sonoma or Sonoma County, make sure you visit this gem right in the heart of the old downtown/ village area.

This restaurant came highly recommended by a local friend, so we made reservations--and I'm glad we did. We started at the bar, which, despite its small size, felt warm and welcoming. The staff immediately made us feel at home, and the space even brought to mind Duarte's Tavern in Pescadero, just on a more intimate scale. Once our table was ready in the dining room, we were seated promptly. Our server, Amy, was wonderful--friendly, attentive, and well-paced throughout the evening. I ordered the salmon, which was perfectly cooked and full of flavor. My date chose the cappellini pomodoro; while it was fine, it didn't quite stand out compared to the rest of the experience. Overall, the quality of service and atmosphere made a strong impression. I can easily see us returning--either to enjoy dinner again or to grab a seat at the bar. Next time, I'd love to try the patio. Definitely make reservations, as this place fills up quickly.

Very friendly service. Patio is lovely. We had roasted beet soup, crab cakes and veal Parmesan. Would eat there again.

Calamari - one of the best I've ever had!

There's something so charming about this place that brings a smile to my face every time. The bar area is cute for a drink or appetizer and feels right out of a movie set. For dinner, you have to call to make a reservation. They're not on the apps. I've had drinks/appetizers here a few times and dinner here twice. Their calamari is some of the best I've had, and I love the sauces they put on it. Last time we had the crème brûlée for dessert and I could have eaten an entire one to myself it was so good. I had the butternut squash ravioli and personally it was far too oily and sweet for me, but I'm still giving five stars, as everything else my husband and I have had here is wonderful.

Butternut squash ravioli was disappointing. Swimming in oil, cringeworthy.

Good pizza. Terrible service. Waitress in the weeds. Waited for a drink. 15 minutes. Long periods of time unattended. I suggest eating that in the dining room. I think it's probably better service.

The place was decked out in Christmas decorations, simply beautiful and festive. The service was friendly and prompt, and the food was fantastic! I ended up getting the special, which was Pot Roast, mashed potatoes, veggies and gravy. It was delicious, moist, and a generously sized portion. I have been to the Swiss multiple times, and every time the food, atmosphere and service is consistently delightful. Highly recommend for a lovely meal out with family or loved ones.

Amazing as always! I love the garden seating here. Today we had the Burrata, crab cake salad, Capellini Pomodoro and a Marghertia pizza. We had a Bloody Mary and iced tea. The table bread is also delicious and comes with an oil and balsamic blend for dipping. I have had the crème brûlée in a past visit and it was also amazing! #shutupandeat!

We had a nice casual lunch here at the Swiss Hotel which is at the center of Sonoma Square. We did outdoor seating during a nice sunny day. Great food and service.

Met up with a friend at 5:30 on a weeknight. We were seated immediately, which was great. I can't recall our server's name, but she was perfect! It was a great balance of good service, but not "so much service" that we kept getting interrupted. My friend had the fried chicken special. I didn't get a photo, but it looked scrumptious!!! There was plenty for another meal - servings are generous, here. I had the beef stroganoff special. I've never ordered stroganoff at a restaurant, that I can recall, but this dish is absolutely DELICIOUS! I'm so happy I ordered what I did! I highly recommend this to any stroganoff lover if it's available!!!!! Overall, I highly recommend "The Swiss!" It's not overly "fancy," but it absolutely will not disappoint!

Love the Cold Irish Coffee a secret recipes that have been passed down through the ages. The hotel is quaint and love the location.

    Wine room. Private and intimate.

Restaurant was awesome. Wonderful food and service. We no reservation, but yet they sat us in the wine room. Beautiful.

The chef provides a tasty breakfast each day, with the menu slightly changing. There is coffee, tea, and hot/cool water available all day. It can get a little crowded at breakfast, so if you are in a large group, go either very early or very late. The afternoon happy hour is pretty relaxed with some offerings of cheese, crackers, and wine. Be sure to ask for gluten-free options, as they have them available. They also prepared nice chocolates for my parents (anniversary) and a cookie for my nephew (birthday), which was a lovely touch. The rooms are fine, some are a little darker and/more dated, but that didn't bother us. The one thing that I would've done differently, is to bring an eye mask and ear plugs. Depending on where your room is located, you could be facing the main street. The doors in certain buildings would slam pretty loudly, so if you had neighbors returning late at night, you would definitely hear them. I am a little fussy with beds, and I found the Vitners King (seemed more like a Cali King?) bed to be a little firm and transferred movement easily. We would consider splurging for the updated rooms next time. Bonus that they have cruiser bikes to borrow. It was very nice to go for a quick ride one of the mornings. Overall a great place to stay and we really enjoyed our visit, thank you!

Then I walked in to check in at the front desk - and I couldn't have been more welcoming. I had just made the marathon drive from Pasadena, CA, and was just tired, hungry and looking to get to the room and get to dinner. But the warm faces and kind words instantly washed the road away from me (and to be honest, the perfectly chilled glass of local champagne certainly helped that too!). They ensured everything was right with the room and with the stay and so I headed out to pick up the puppy from the car and settle up to the room. And then... there is the story of the puppy. Out of all the hotels and resorts I've stayed in - nothing NOTHING compares to the dog friendly (while still wholly human centric) service at this Fairmont. They made me feel like Chance was as much a guest there as I was. And all that isn't even to mention the concierge, the perfect cocktails from the bartender, the beautiful winding paths that guide you through the campus, the world class spa and massages (note - make SURE you check out the quiet room, nothing like it I've ever seen), the OUTSTANDING breakfast under the trees next to the pool...
