    Vegetarian fajitas, and chicken enchiladas.

Best fajitas ever! Everything was delicious, servic is great. I will be back everytime I come to Sedalia. I also like that there is enough division in the seating, it's not to noisy to visit with companions.

There had been a standing debate in the town of sedalia about this mexican restaurant vs the other. I think my choice is this one! The beef chimichanga was well seasoned and flavorful as well as the right portion size. It came with rice, refried beans, pico, sour-cream and guac. Just how I like it! They had 2.99 marg specials for happy hour and I could not resist. Service was fast!! I will say I did not care for the flan as it was more spongey and not soft/moist. The chips and salsa was not my favorite either.

This restaurant was an absolute treat. The staff was great and the food was so tasty. I ordered a steak and chicken fajita which was delicious. Our server was courteous and very attentive. Great food and great service made this an amazing experience.

On our way back to KC from Lake of the Ozarks, we stumbled upon this Mexican restaurant in Sedalia. This is one of those places that is technically Texmex but leans a little more toward the mex side. Chips were hot and crispy and salsa was very good. If you order the spicy salsa and mix it with the regular mild it's a winning combo! I also have a rule when I go to a New Mexican restaurant; If they have molcajete on the menu, I order it. Beef, chicken, shrimp, cactus and cheese in a hot lava bowl! The molcajete here was very very good! Husband ordered the fajitas and also really liked them. When traveling to and from the lake this will definitely be a stop we will try to make!

Sedalia has become, for a variety of reasons, a small Mexican version of Kansas City's barbecue ecosystem or St. Louis' Italian ecosystem. The small city has a disproportionate number of excellent and authentic Mexican restaurants and taquerias. They are owned and staffed by people knowledgeable and passionate about the cuisine of their native or ancestral country. El Espolon is one of the anchors of the city's offerings, with excellent food and service reflective of that status. The menu is extensive, the wait staff professional and friendly, the prices ridiculously reasonable (lunch menu includes weekends). Four stars, with an added fifth star earned by our outstanding server Pablo, whom we have no doubt will be a revered restaurateur himself someday.

It is a small restaurant (possibly a converted fast food place) that has been modified and decorated to fit the part. The bar area consists of horse saddles for bar stools which was a nice feature. The night I went there was (I believe) only one waitress who was hustling. I was seated and quickly brought chips and salsa. The salsa had a slight hint of heat and the chips were pretty good. I usually order a combo plate when at a new place. I found them near the back of a very extensive menu. Instead of picking from a list of items they gave each possible combination spelled out. I was hoping for a taco, enchilada and rellano combo but rellanos are not included in the combos. I went with a taco, 2 enchiladas and rice. Apparently these only come ground beef. I tried to get carnitas for my tacos and ended up with a side dish of tacos. In the end the food tasted good. My margarita seemed heavy on the mix and easy on the tequila. In the end this was fine for small town Mexican. I would have rated it higher had the combo portion of my dinner not been the standard ground beef.

At first, I felt like the flavor was a bit lacking overall, but I quickly realized that most of the items seemed more like "add salt to taste." The place itself was super small and had a home-like feel. It's located in a smaller city with a mostly Hispanic and white population, so I can understand the flavor palate they may be cooking for. Overall, I would come back since it seems to be the only place in the area with decent tacos. The family that owns it was very nice, and the service was great. The pozole and salsa macha they had was super good. I'd come back just for that. If you're confused with all the clutter that how stores are in Mexico. Walking in to modest decor, simple but ample seating, no frills, but clean and well kept. There are several tv's and overhead music. The staff was friendly, but limited English speaking. We ordered a steak quesadilla and the steak taquitos plate for under $30. My son said the quesadilla was very flavorful, but not spicy. It was the size of a dinner plate. He enjoyed it, but he stated that it was pretty greasy. I don't normally order taquitos, but what the heck, I threw caution into the wind and went for it. They were pretty tasty, but needed more salt. With a little fresh lime and fresh salsa it was yummy. There were beans and rice on the plate which was also good. One thing that I really loved was the salsa bar. You can find fresh salsa of various types and garnishes to accompany your meal. I will say, the red sauce lit me up. With that being said I am a Missouri country girl and pepper was spicy. It had great flavor though. We will return. Four stars as I thought it needed more seasoning.

It came with the caramelized onions as requested, on the side, but in the same wrapper as the tongue taco. The tongue was in little squares and was so incredibly tender and flavorful. I don't know that the onions were actually caramelized, but they were very well grilled and pretty perfect. But, holy moly, the torta! I got the Asada Torta, and it was not ground beef nor sliced, but little tiny pieces of chopped beef (excellent!). The sandwich was layered with mayonnaise, refried beans, lettuce and tomato, cheese, fresh avocado slices, and grilled jalapeños (or maybe pickled? They were real, and large slices, but they were not burning hot like a fresh-cut one would be. Or maybe I just got lucky, ha ha). Holy cow! I will say that I have never had a torta from a Mexican restaurant before, so this is my first, and it was fantastic - I was told it would be 10 to 15 minutes (I was sitting in my car in the parking lot when I ordered), and less than 10 minutes later a nice young man (wearing a mask, yay!) brought my order out to me, which I did not expect, but really appreciated! Each dish was in its own neatly wrapped aluminum foil, then in a brown paper bag. No Styrofoam, thank you very much! I got utensils and lots of napkins, and I needed all of them! Good stuff!
