Great hospitality but the food was too salty and slightly overpriced 2 stars due to hospitality but 1 star on food

Walked in to halfway empty restaurant. Was told would have to wait to be seated. Waited 10 minutes and left. Will not be going back..

Chips cold, queso tasted like it came from a jar, enchiladas tasted reheated and so did the taco meat.

Yuck! If you're expecting this place to be like the one on Camp Bowie, well it aint. The food, really cheap ingredients, they cut corners every where they can. POOR QUALITY. El Fenix is known for their Monti Zuma's Margaritas, ha, this location figured out a way to ruin that too. So sweet it nearly made me sick, it was nasty. Went to El Fenix today, the first time in several years. We had the Wed special, enchiladas. They were pretty good, but no flavor and kind of bland. The salsa and chips were very good and the service was good.Not a bad place for a chain restaurant. read more

Customer service was excellent. Portions not so much but the waitress was very accommodating and brought us more. (We ate the fajitas) Disappointed that the tortillas were store brought. Both corn and flour. All in all, it was ok. read more

The food tonight was fantastic, but the service was thru the roof amazing. This was not our first choice for the night, to be honest (we tried On The Border across the highway 1st and couldn't get a waiter or waitress), but this was definitely the right choice. Tania G. Was our waitress and took excellent care of us. We had our drinks (tea and house margarita) within a few minutes of being seated, and order order came our soon after. The food was out fresh, hit, and was especially good tonight. I had the Saltillo Plate and my wife the brisket tacos. Excellent cheese taco. We split a bean tostada as well, and all were fresh and tasty. The margarita was really good, too. At the end, Tania recommended the lemon pie, homemade in the store, and I couldn't resist. The pie is fantastic! Also have to say that the manager took a big interest in making sure we were well taken care of. Glasses stayed full, they made sure we enjoyed and were satisfied with the food, they were friendly and welcoming the whole time, and they made quick suggestions and modifications to the food to give us the best of what we were looking for in our meal. read more

Nice environment, seemed clean and the servers were nice. The salsa was better then the pace picante sauce you get at Rosa's, but could be a little spicier. The food was not amazing, but it was not horrible either. Our food came out hot, but tasted microwaved hot to be honest. Also, I had the tacos with the Avocado slices on it and they were browning. I asked the server if they use fresh avocados and she said yes. I highly doubt they are using fresh food. I wouldn't say that we will never come back here, we just won't unless it's the last remaining restaurant in Burleson. read more

This location has gone downhill. I have been going to El Fenix in Arlington and Fort Worth since I was a kid. But this Burleson restaurant has the worst, grumpy staff, infifferent management and the food is often undercooked, over salted and very incosistent even when the restaurant isn't busy. The only reason I come here is for takeout lunch which is good when they actually get the order right. I wouldn't suggest this place to my friends. We eat here at least once a week. Food is always good service is good most of the time. There's has been a fee times that my order was not correct but the manager made sure it's was it was done right. The manager at the location is amazing. read more

I'd give 0 stars if I could. Cold food Hot plate took hour to get service. Only saw server once. No chicken in the enchiladas, the only plate that did have chicken was nothing but gritty chicken fat. We stopped here for the first time on Father's Day and was extremely disappointed. I should have checked the reviews on here before getting down. Ee were passing through and saw the sign outside that said "Since 1918" and we decided to give it a try, well we should have gone somewhere else. The service was pretty good, however the food was not, it was bland and lacked any flavor. Starting with the queso, it truly was not what we expected, we ordered the regular queso because i really don't eat spicy and it was like a nacho cheese flavor like gas station type nacho cheese. So my husband ordered the spicy queso and it was a lil better but not much difference. Their salsa wasnt that great either, however they have really good chips. We ordered lunch fajitas, one steak and the other chicken, they weren't too flavorful. The chicken was ok but not great and the steak was a lil chewy. The rice and black beans were ok but not great either. One good thing is the prices but I prefer to pay a little more to get better quality and flavor. I'm not sure if this is the norm here at this restaurant but it was our first and last time eating there. The 2 stars are for the service, for the good chips itself and that for Father's Day they discounted the appetizer which was the queso. When we arrived we were starving so even with the disappointment we didn't complain about the food just let the waitress know about the queso and when asked about the food our answer was "it's ok". We love mexican food and have eaten at several restaurants and this definitely has been one of the worse ones when it comes to flavor and quality. read more

This was the worst experience I have ever had in my 35 years of eating at El Fenix. I order the El Finex dinner and they never brought me the taco or the guacamole that was part of the meal, then what they did bring me was cold so I sent it back, they keep it about 2 minutes and brought it back Luke warm, which turned cool before I was able to eat it so I only ate about half. The waiter could not have care less. He never refilled our salsa or drinks and the chips were 90% crumbs. I just pissed off the last $30.00 I will ever spend at El Finex. The place has just slowly gone down since the family sold it. read more

We had a great experience! The food was amazing and the margaritas were great. Our server was very attentive(I don't remember her name but she was very polite)and our food was out in about 6 minutes. The food was like food at other El Fenix restaurants. The service was unacceptable on all three visits. Two of the three visits we were not given the food we ordered. All three times the waiters disappeared for long periods of time. I refilled my own salsa and iced tea. Come on El Fenix, train your wait staff. read more

Better than most Tex-Mex in Burleson. Service is great. I've always enjoyed the food I ordered.

We were traveling through town and stopped here because I usually can eat Mexican food with no problem with my gluten allergy. I asked for a gluten free menu when I got inside and the manager looked at me like he had no idea what I was talking about. Then, I asked the waitress about it and she was very short and snippy with me. I asked her to please check with the kitchen to make sure. When she came back she told me I could have the salad with no meat in it. I was very disappointed in the way I was treated. If you are going to work in the food service industry, you have to be aware of ingredients and customer allergies. I ended up not ordering anything and just going next door to Chick Fil A where I knew I could get something without having to worry. read more

I chose this place based on billboards and not by reviews which is never a good plan. It's been famous since 1918 which is 18 years longer than Mexican Inn Cafe which I'm thinking is impressive. We came in at noon on Sunday. The parking lot was packed but the 2 of us were seated immediately. Our server was great. He brought chips, salsa and our drinks while we decided on our menu choices. The chips were amazing. The salsa was typical Pace Picante. I decided on the steak and enchilada meal. My hubby got a taco, enchilada, tamale lunch special. My steak was a thin well done steak even though he asked and I said "med-rare". There was no sear, no flavor, it tasted like it was boiled. It was tender, not like shoe leather which was its saving grace. The beans were nothing special, bland. The guac was good but my cheese enchilada was covered in chili, canned chili. My hubby also was not happy with his meal, he compared the tamale to something you would get out of a can. If you are craving good Mexican or Tex Mex, this is not the place I would recommend. The bathrooms were nice and tastefully decorated. The best things about El Fenix were the service and the chips. The worst thing about this place were the entrees. read more

I would give 0 stars if I could. I called in a pick up order. The server that took my order didn't know the item that I was ordering directly from their menu. I had to explain what supreme fajitas were and how I didn't want the shoestring onion rings on my fajitas. Just the queso. I get there and I had to ask to check my order and the server still put the shoestring onion rings in a box and put them in the bag. I told her I didn't want them. I don't understand why she didn't listen to me, because I literally just threw them away and wasted food and containers for the restaurant. The queso on the fajitas was barely any. I explained to her I had just ordered this same item from a different el fenix yesterday and it was smothered and can I get more queso on there. Only if I buy an extra pint of queso was her response. That was the only option considering that I can go to the same restaurant chain somewhere else and get it without having to pay for queso that is already supposed to be on there? So I paid for it, and then to top it off, at the bottom of the receipt there is a survey for their service and you get a free queso if you do it. So I had to pay for queso due to bad service, yet if I write a survey about it, I will get a free one? Please let me know how this makes sense. So I go to do their survey, and the survey won't recognize my check number so I can't even complete it unless I do it anonymously and then no free queso. LOL! At this point I have to just laugh. The whole thing was just a joke. I will NEVER go to this el fenix again. On a positive note, el fenix as a chain has fantastic food. Went to lunch with my mom, this is usually one of our go to Mexican spots, but this last time will be our last. We walked in, and the hostess was busy behind the registers, she looked at us, but kept working. Several minutes later, she finally acknowledged us, and said I'll be right with you, then disappeared in the office for several more minutes. When she finally seated us, she put the menus in a pile, and walked away. We sat down and began looking over the menu. The server walked up and rudely demanded our drink order, his exact words- "I'm getting you drinks, what do you need" we gave him our drink order( dr. Pepper and unsweetened tea). He disappeared and came back with a sloppily prepared bowl of chips( 1/2 full and mostly crumbs) and salsa. He left them on the edge of the table and walked away. He then came back with the tea, and told us he had dropped the DP. He asked for our food orders, we ordered variations of enchiladas. He disappeared do another long while(15-20 minutes). He reemerged with our food, and a dr. Pepper. The food was not as good as expected. It's hard to explain the food, it didn't compare to what was had during previous visits. We finished our food, and waited for the bill. The server walked up and asked if we needed desert. We declined, and were given the check. We went to the register and told the hostess that the food was not what it used to be, and that the server was really rude. She said that " he's been working for us for a while, and never had any complaints" I paid the bill and left, and will not return any time soon. read more
