    CRISPY PORK BELLY

We came in as a group of 6 on a Friday night with reservations for 7:45. They originally gave us a table at the back near the door to kitchen but soon moved us to another spot in the front room without us even asking. Grateful that they did because it was originally a pretty uncomfortable seating arrangement for the size of our party. What we ordered: - CRISPY SHIITAKE WONTONS - Shiitake and Vegetable Medley with Chile Lime Soy Reduction and Spicy Aioli - CUBAN SANDWICH SPRING ROLLS - CUBAN SANDWICH SPRING ROLLS - CRISPY PORK BELLY - Crispy Pork Belly, Salsa Verde, Chili Crisp, Crispy Shallots - CUBAN FRIED RICE - Shrimp, Pulled Pork, Spam, Maduros, Onion, Bell Pepper, Egg, and Cilantro Crema - ROPA VIEJA NOODLES - 8 hr. Slow Roasted Brisket, Sautéed Peppers, Onions, Broccoli and Mushrooms, Sichuan Soy Glaze We all at everything family style so everyone got to sample a bit of it all. All the dishes were good but the stand outs for us was the Cuban Sandwich Spring Rolls and Cuban Fried Rice. We ended up order more of those. We ordered a bunch of cocktails and mocktails (pina coladas) as well and they were all made well. Definitely enjoyed our visit and will return.

Very pleasant I have had many conversations with friends and family members about ratings, specifically 4 versus 5. While the food wasn't near the best that I've ever had, they did everything right. The cocktails and plates were creative and tasty. The Lobster Noodles were outstanding. The texture of the Flan was memorable. The room is comfortable and the service was attentive.

Calle Dao is a well-received Chinese-Cuban gastronomical fusion experience. The restaurant appears to be a local favorite. There aren't many Cuban restaurants in the city so would take advantage for your fix. I ordered the ropa vieja noodles which were good. Loved the concept of the dish but the spice took over the taste of the ropa vieja a bit --overall still very satisfying. Ambience is laid back and inviting. Great spot.

Must try: Lunch Special ($20.99) and Lobster Noodles! Why: We shared a Calle Dao Burger lunch special with Yucca Fries as well as Lobster Noodles. Everything was delish! The burger cooked medium had Swiss Cheese, Soy Grilled Onions, Avocado, and Pickles. Juicy patty and lots of flavor. Lobster Noodles with Miso Butter, Mushroom, Peppers, Onions, and Broccoli was also packed with flavor. Lobster in noodles was unique and I wanted more! Notes: Waitress and workers were all friendly and attentive. Clean and spacious restaurant with many takes for small and large parties. They also have bar area. It was cold outside and our table happened to be under the heater vent to warm us up. We thought the sandwich lunch special was a great deal and large portions, and we'd would like to come back to try Cubano, Pork Belly and Cheesesteak.

Visiting NYC for 4th of July festivities, I came across Calle Dao due to pure serendipity, it was next to my hotel. I checked out the menu outside ND decided to try it. The atmosphere is somewhere between nostalgic and functional. As soon as you enter, there is a long bar, and some small tables. There are more tables on the back. There are nostalgic touches everywhere, like the display of Cuban rum bottles at the bar, or the map of La Habana with "Cuchillo" ("Dao" in Cantonese) Street prominently displayed. Calle Cuchillo ("Knife Street") is a short, pedestrian-only block in Havana's Barrio Chino (Chinatown), in Centro Habana. It's lined with Chinese-Cuban restaurants (since the 19th C.) , and has been officially renamed "El Callejón del Barrio Chino". Calle Dao in Bryant Park ,NYC seeks to pay homage to that Cuban-Chinese history, and offers unique "Cuban Chinese fusion" dishes. I sat blat the bar and established a pleasant conversation with the bartender. She was incredibly friendly, and happy to talk about food, "her favorite subject". I ordered the "tostones con ropa vieja" (fried green plantains topped with shredded beef stew). The tostones were crispy and the meat tender, and utterly delicious. I followed it with crispy pork belly baos, served traditional style, with a hoisin sauce and green onion-cilantro dressing. Of course I had to try the mojito and it was lime-muddled and authentic. For dessert I had their house made flan, which was rich and delicious(probably because it was a cream cheese enriched custard). I recommend Calle Dao for a unique restaurant experience, far away from the Booba teas and fried rice that you can have anywhere in NYC.

Very interesting flavors Chinese noodles with Cuban spices. Very tasty . If you're looking for something different unique , you'll have to come and give it a try. It's a cute little humble, cozy restaurant. Very good service.

This place was quite a surprise! Chinese Cuban fusion! The food was amazing and was very unique and how they approach diffusion of specific dishes, such as a Cuban sandwich eggrolls. Or Cuban sandwich fried rice. Service was quick and efficient. They seem to be a very busy spot and go based off reservations. The space itself was adorned with a lot of Cuban and Chinese antiques, and they had a very moody vibe

Finally tried Calle Dao in Midtown and loved it! The Cuban Sandwich Spring Rolls blew my mind -- crispy, juicy, and so good with the mustard. Total must-order. The lobster noodles were another favorite: super flavorful noodles and the lobster already shelled (bless!). Shrimp was fresh, and my husband loved the flank steak with rice and beans. Drinks were solid and the vibe is great for grabbing a cocktail after shopping. Service was friendly and the space feels stylish. Will definitely come back for those spring rolls!

It's been about 6 months since I've been here and I just remembered thinking I didn't write a review for this place and I also still remember enjoying this place. That says a lot because my memory sucks. This place was recommended to me by someone that use to live here. We ordered the crispy pork belly to share and I had lobster noodles. Both were great! I know traveling is about trying new food, but next time I visit New York, I'm definitely stopping by again and getting something different! If I had a second stomach I'd get the same things as well. The atmosphere gave off family own, the workers were welcoming and warm, and the place itself was clean. I don't think I've tried a place like this before. I usually hate fusion food, but I think it's because most the fusion places tried to be American mixed with another ethnicity, but this place really knows how to tie in Cuban and Chinese tastes into a well thought out dish. Thanks for a great experience :) I didn't get her name, but I remember one of the great staff members had really nice tattoos that I commented on. I'm actually really surprised to have had this impression lasting from months ago so I really mean it when I say don't skip on this place!

I've been to this place a few times. Their drinks are always strong and food is consistently good. Plus they have happy hour from 12-7 for drinks. This time we just got a glass of wine, sangria and the wings. The wings came with 6 pieces and the bian pao sauce was great. A good spot for casual get togethers with good food and drinks. Price is also very good for the area a block away from Bryant park

My friends and I came here for dinner on a Tuesday evening. We had a reservation and were seated upon arrival. The restaurant has some mood lighting and decor matching the cuisine: Cuban Chinese. Food: I started my meal with the shiitake wontons. They were pretty good. For my entree, I had the spiced tofu stir-fry. I enjoyed it a lot, but I wish the tofu was just a little bit more spiced. My friends and I also shared some yucca fries. They were crispy, and I would recommend. Service: Our server was a great ball of energy. They were friendly and delightful. I wish I remembered their name. Our food came out promptly after ordering. Our drinks took a little more time, but it was pretty busy when we were seated. It was also still happy hour when we arrived for dinner. TL;DR - good food with great service

Sat us on a Friday night without a problem. The atmosphere was great and vibe on point. Justin, our server, was incredible. Amazing service! Charming, funny and very attentive. My glass was never empty. Drinks were yummy and happy hour prices weren't insane. Delicious Sauvignon Blanc. My favorite white. I got the chicken and yellow rice, which was bursting with unbelievable flavor. It was so good. Everything came together perfectly and the portion size was hearty. I couldn't finish, but wish I did. We had plans after dinner so we kept it light. Can't wait to go back for more. The menu is incredible.

Little Gem in Bryant Park, you will feel like you are somewhere in Miami.... Calle Ocho... Love the decor... seriously you won't feel like you are in NYC. Good place for happy hour. We tried the Mojito, Sangria, Yuca Fries, Lechon on tostones. The food, drinks and service were great!

Do they have happy hour specials on weekdays or weekends and if so what times?

There is HH: Mon- Fri 12-7pm, Sat-Sun 4-7pm

Are there heating lamps for outdoor dining?

I didn't see any lamps back in October

Is this place good place to host a birthday brunch for big group (15-20 people)?

Yes they have a really good special for brunches ! Make sure you reserve in advance as it gets pack quickly !! Food and drinks are delicious !! Good luck !!

Is their happy hour only at the bar?

No. Happy hour is at the tables too :)

Can one host a baby shower here for around 50 guests?

It's a great place, but it would likely be too small for a group of that size.

Does this restaurant have live music? If so what are the days and times?

I'm not certain if it never does but it did not the three times I went.

Is the bottomless brunch only on sat and sun?

Yes, most places in manhattan will be on Sat/Sun

What are the drink options for bottomless brunch?

I had to reference a picture I posted on my review but it includes Mimosas, Bellinis, Bloody Marys, Mojitos, Caipirinha and Red Sangria :)

I'm a whisky girl, especially rye, so I enjoyed sipping on this. A nice stop on the way to diner. I was here years ago, but that experience is a little hazy. Glad I was able to revisit. REVIEW #4002

The well-crafted cocktails present thoughtful riffs on the classics, inventive without being showy. While the dim lighting and intimate atmosphere practically beg for a secret rendezvous (there's an ostrich involved), I met up with a friend for the decidedly unscandalous purpose of doing our intention setting for the year over libations and nibbles. I opted for a pastel sour while my companion asked for a drink called The Last Word - it was no longer on the menu but they obligingly made it for us anyway. The menu consists of mostly small plates and is seafood forward, but we shared a petite dish of steak frites, tender and cooked perfectly medium rare. Our server was very sweet but service was slow on the night, and by the time we received our utensils the food was cold. However we were not rushed and were able to linger a bit to finish our conversation. For those who savor finely concocted cocktails paired with fresh raw bar offerings in a salon-like setting, this is the spot for you.

We walked in without a reservation around 6:20 p.m., and they were able to accommodate us at a shared table until 7:15. The menu surprised me a bit. Since I associated the address with Eleven Madison Park, I wasn't expecting to see items like wings stuffed with sausage, which were done in partnership with Jungsik. We ordered those along with the mushroom burger and asked them to cut the burger in half for us. The cocktail menu was creative and a little intimidating, with unconventional ingredients like cream cheese and green curry. I went with a fruity Hendrick's-based drink, and my friend ordered the spicy green curry martini. Both were good. Mine didn't taste very strong, but it also wasn't overly sweet because there was enough bitterness to balance it out. The green curry martini was more adventurous but still worked. Service was mixed. There was a woman standing near us, so we tried ordering food with her, but she seemed hesitant to come over. Maybe she wasn't a server or was newer. For drinks, she brought over someone more seasoned, who quickly helped guide us based on our preferred taste profiles. Her suggestions were very good. The mushroom burger was the highlight for me. It was a little salty, but the crispy mushroom and soft bun were a great combination. I honestly wished I had more than half. The wings were okay. They were crispy on the outside and juicy inside, but coated in a Dorito-like powder that made them very messy. Overall, it was a good experience, and I'd come back, especially for the mushroom burger.
