I'm torn. The food was good. The service was decent. The margaritas would have been great.....had you not wanted any tequila. I had pineapple, and while it was flavorful, I am 99% certain that there was no alcohol in there. I didn't taste any tequila, but moreover I didn't FEEL any alcohol. I don't drink that much these days, so I think with a giant glass like that I would have at least felt a LITTLE something. For $14 I don't know that it's worth the price for a virgin cocktail, even though the pineapple and sour mix did taste refreshing together. I had the chiles rellenos. Good solid entree, as were the rice & beans. I really liked the chips that came out with the fresh thick cabbage and cilantro dip. I don't know if it was exactly what you would call a salsa, but it sure was good. The rest of my party enjoyed their meals too, but no one was billing it as the best Mexican food in the area. (Still trying to decide which place deserves that title.) Would I go again? Definitely maybe. read more

Came back here for another fantastic lunch. The staff was a little slow, but after we were there a bit things picked up. We've been going to La Loma for years. It's one of the few authentic Mexican food around. They have a great variety of dishes and the selection of different meats makes it so much better than your average Mexican joint. We've never had anything that was just ok here. What is not to like!?! Our party of 7 found our experience super!! Food was absolutely amazing, perfect temperature, perfect preparation, and delicious! The portions are massive, as well. We entered the restaurant around 7:00 pm on a Saturday night. We had no waiting and we're escorted to a booth quickly. The place seemed lively with music playing in the background and the restaurant was nicely packed. Our server asked for drink orders and to my surprise my wife ordered a Blackberry Mojito; which she typically doesn't drink. This means she was in her element especially the evening before Mothers Day. I ordered a Modelo- Negra; which was ice cold and delivered with a frosty glass. Yes, it had Ohio State on it so I won't hold that against them. Chips, salsa and slaw came to the table very quickly. My daughter attacked and quickly depleted the basket of chips. She seemed to like the avocado and lime dressing that was on the table also. My wife and I both ordered Chimichangas and my daughter ordered the Quesadilla. From the time we ordered the food, it arrived in 5 minutes. The food was very good. I occasionally eat Mexican cuisine and not a expert; although I lived in Southern California and was use to eating Mexican food routinely. So, for us as a family unit, I can say that we enjoyed everything. My daughter at the end ordered Churros and she devoured them too. Thanks La Loma. read more

I have eaten here quite a few times and my food is always good. The place is always clean and the wait staff are very nice!

Atmosphere: When going to this place, you might be fooled by the fact it is in a plaza but when you walk in, it is clean, warm and has nice decor and TVs throughout so everyone can have sight of at least one. This was our second time here and this time we came for lunch. When we first sat down, we were immediately asked if we wanted to order drinks. We settled with water as we still had to look at the drink menu. When looking at the menu, we did not see any lunch pricing which is what we were looking for because the portions are smaller and I can't eat huge portions so lunch portions are perfect for me. When the waitress brought back our waters, we ordered the queso we wanted with our chips and salsa and also ordered half a pitcher of classic margaritas. We then asked if they had a lunch menu in which case the waitress confirmed and brought us one. I am not sure if it's usual for the lunch menus not to be out but I would suggest they be ready for lunch time in case of people who are in a rush and want to order drinks and food together. Food: My girlfriend ordered the lunch steak fajita and I ordered the lunch chimichanga. My girlfriend's fajitas were sizzling hot, all the toppings she wanted on the side came on the side with no mistakes, her flour tortillas it came with were soft and hot. She ate as much as she could and still had leftovers even with the lunch portion. As for my food, I am telling you that this was probably the best chimichanga I have ever had. The ends were crispy, the chicken inside was delicious and not bland and the rice went perfectly with it. The melted cheese that comes on top is always the tastiest part but if the chicken is bland, it ruins the plate. Thankfully, they perfected the chimichanga. We accidently ignored the half a pitcher of margarita we ordered at the beginning of our lunch so after we had our fill of food, we went at our drinks. I always suggest getting half a pitcher over getting single glass margaritas. You spend about $15 on half a pitcher and get 4 full glasses VS the same cost for 2 individual margaritas. The only thing we could complain about with the food is that we agreed the refried beans have a great flavor but too runny. Overall: This is our new regular lunch spot. We decided. We will be back regularly for lunch and drinks. The staff is very friendly and quick. The prices are very reasonable for the quality and portion size. Honestly, in my opinion, it is the best Mexican restaurant in Canton (and I was on the search for a while). read more

I have reached the point of not trusting Yelp reviews. This place was not good. I should have been wary when we arrived at 12:30 and there was only one other customer at lunchtime. All of the food was very salty. Even the salsa was salty. The side rice was mushy. We got nachos with beef and beans. There were no beans. The beef was not good. The cheese was strange. They put this same cheese on everything. We ordered a fajita. It was also covered with this same cheese. I never had a fajita covered with cheese. There were no tortillas with it. It was on a bed of rice. My burrito was tiny. I ordered it with beef. It only contained the beef that was flavorless other than the extreme amount of salt. This is not your average storefront Mexican place. This place is legit! Like, a hand-crafted, flavor-forward, let-me-take-you-on-a-journey food experience. Ice cold drafts, fresh ingredients, and an unassuming but cozy atmosphere. We walked in and we're seated immediately on a Sunday afternoon. The place was 2/3 full. The staff was all smiles, and we were waited on immediately. The menu fits on 2 sides of a placemat... like, literally. But it is loaded with options. The usual suspects? Sure. Add to that, Birria Tacos, Tortas, and meat options that will make your eyes widen and your mouth water. I ordered the steak ranchero (I always order the steak ranchero at a new Mexican place... just as a basis of comparison). My wife, Birria Tacos. If I could have, I'd have eaten both... I sampled. They were delicious. The steak ranchero was buttery and delicious. The ranchero was just perfect. The rice was fluffy and fresh. The beans were stand alone superb. And that little left over slurry of ranchero, fatty steak edges, rice, and beans at the end (that only steak ranchero fans truly know) was the absolute best! The Birria Tacos were crispy and amazing with a delicious dipping broth, that was slightly further across the table than I would have preferred. But I got samples. Oh... the salsa. Fresh, a little smoky, and utterly unique. 10/10. I couldn't stop. Then they brought me an ice cold Dos Equis draft the size of a Toyota Corolla. And that helped slow my roll. Everything was excellent - the complimentary salsa and chips were delicious. Salsa had some chipotle flavoring, chips were warm. So many menu options but we had the Birra Tacos and the Chori Pollo. La Loma is a nice Mexican restaurant. The salsa looks and tastes freshly made in house, and is very good. Just about everything is able to be had with your choice of meat. My son couldn't stop talking about the Torta from his last visit, so I ordered it. The waiter suggested doing it with the marinated pork, so I did. The pork was a red color and tasted very sour. I did not like it. To their credit, I made server aware, and they let me order something else. The beef Chimichanga was what I chose and it was delicious. The rice that came with the order is amazing! So, I would order something with that included. It is not to be missed. I did try a bite of my son's Torta with beef, and he was right. It was good. (Tastes like a Philly Cheesesteak) The restaurant was very clean and had a nice decor. Supposedly, they do something big with a big hat, a song and a free dessert on your birthday. It happened to be my birthday. It was mentioned several time to the wait staff, but I can't say I experienced anything. Overall, it is a good Mexican restaurant to try, but it is on the expensive side. Most dishes are around $15. read more

Stopped in for lunch on my birthday and just tried the tacos. I had steak, chicken, and shrimp. Oh my gosh, the best ever. They were small and served on two white corn tortillas, street tacos style with cilantro and onions. The shrimp was ok, but the chicken and steak were to die for. Actually, so good I went back the next day for lunch with my daughter bc I was in the area! We had the queso with the tortilla chips and I ordered 4 tacos. With the chips it was too much to eat. 1st time here Sunday 6/12/22 and we really enjoyed the food!! My birria tacos were amazing and husband's burrito was enormous. He got it with pastor (marinated pork) and didn't care for the flavor. Next time he'll do the shredded beef or just stick with the birra tacos. Our margaritas were a bit on the too sweet side, so next time I'll stick to beer. Inside was very bright and open. So I added this place a while back. I waited until I had visited a handful of times to give a solid review. I will say this place is not like Taqueria La Loma in Akron so don't confuse the two. Additionally, I am not even sure this is a secondary location. This place is at best decent in authenticity. I am not the governor of authentic here just stating my personal opinion. Traditional beef birria con consome does not have rice. The birria although flavorful had some missing notes of guajillo chile and cinnamon. The food is inconsistent. Sometimes it is really good almost a 5 star rating and other times I get leftover heated rice that is dry so it makes it really hard for me to give a solid 4. The Canton area absolutely needed a place like this and I am happy that it is here. While I love the decor and the cleanliness of the location, the food for me falls short. I went back and forth on the rating for this place and realized that although the food is really good sometimes it has not earned my 4 stars. The flavor is good for a change in lunch spots however it is so inconsistent that I get frustrated because the potential is absolutely there. The location is great, the staff is friendly enough and the atmosphere is top notch. My favorite menu items are the carnitas tacos and the al pastor tacos. Although for me it is not GREAT, it is good enough to be a return customer. I do believe this place has a 5-Star potential so I will keep coming back. read more
