Came here on a Friday for lunch and I must say it was just ok. I love chips and queso which was not offered. I ordered the taco plate with the carne asada and the el pastor for my meats. The tacos size was ok a little small for my liking. The carne asada was really good but the el pastor was not. They used cinnamon as one of their spices and I thought it didn't go very well with the pork. The rice and beans were good. Service was good, beer selection was only bottled and only Mexican beers. My hubby ordered the burrito and it looked good but he too said it was ok. I'm looking for that taco place that I want to keep going back for their amazing tacos and this was not it. The worst part was I walked away still hungry.. that's always a bad sign in my book. Would I go back? Maybe if I really desperate for tacos but in the meantime I'll keep searching for the knock me on toes taco place. read more

My fiancé and I love this place, they have such authentic tasting food. We always order the steak tacos and the chicken tortilla soup because it is so delicious. Not really into posting reviews, but... We used to really love this place. It was our goto for great Mexican food. The last 5 times have not been good whatsoever. We usually get about 4 different meals for our family. King burrito, taco bowl (used to get the sandwich until it disappeared), taco plate, and the vegetarian tacos. The rice is usually old, the taco bowl never has the corn, strips, beans, or peppers, the meat quality is 50/50 I guess depending on who is cooking. I guess we have to find a new restaurant. read more

We've been here a dozen times and it's always great! Best Mexican in the area, always fresh. I always get the steak taco trio and my husband gets the king steak burrito, it's huge. The guacamole is a little spicy for me but I can't handle much spice. My husband says it's good. The horchata is fantastic! We will be doing their catering for NYE. read more

It took 20 minutes to receive my burrito. Multiple people ordered bigger orders behind me and got their orders first. I wanted to like this place so much because I have been so anxious to try it for a long time now.. however after finally receiving my food the meat was way too salty. Sadly, I will not be back. Just had dinner delivered by Door Dash - steak burrito, pork taco, and a Flautas plate. Everything arrived fast, hot and delicious. The steak in the burrito was still hot and the lettuce still cool and crisp. The flautas had great flavor and just the right amount of crisp, and the pork taco was perfect. I thought I would give this place another try it's been a while since I've eaten here. I have ordered the chicken burrito in the past and wasn't a fan of the stewed chicken but that's a personal taste. I ordered the steak burrito tonight and was disappointed again. The steak reminded me of Taco Bell steak and the burrito was pouring grease out of it. The sauce was really bland and not spicy at all. For those of you who are looking for AUTHENTIC Mexican food, you won't find it here. It's more of a Tex-Mex style cantina, but has some infusions of authentic food here and there. I've gotten their chorizo torta, my husband a chorizo burrito without beans, and my daughter a cheese quesadilla kid's meal. Very good quality food, and they have a few bottled Mexican beers if you would like to quench your adult thirst. Food service is a bit slow, but everything is made fresh, so it's not really that big of a deal to me. I know that does bother some individuals, though. I was somewhat disappointed that the kid's meal did not have a milk option. I was left to choose from the choices of the fountain drink machine, which is not necessarily all that great for kids if you're not careful like me. read more

Good Mexican food and great value. The Flautas cantina style are terrific as are other items on the menu. The downside: they can really botch an order. On one occasion order was missing an entree. And, twice my free appetizer was not packed in my bags. Again, good stuff. But, if you go...always check the bags before you leave. read more

I would have left a higher rating (and this had nothing to do with the quality of the food). When I visited the store I noticed that none of the kitchen staff were wearing masks and the front staff were not wearing masks properly. I mentioned to someone that shouldn't the staff be wearing masks, and her reply was, 'no, they don't wear masks'. I find it disappointing that there's not more concern for their customers health amid the pandemic. read more

This place is a far cry from authentic Mexican food. They give canned liquid nacho "cheese" with your chips. Are you kidding me? You can't even shred some real cheese? This is as comical as it is unfortunate. The refried beans and rice are inedible due to lack of flavor and poor quality. It seemed as if it had been reheated a few times. They carne asada tastes as if it has been boiled and includes the tough parts of the meat that needed to be spit out. I had more onions and dried out cilantro on my tacos than meat. The salsa is bland and watery. Come on now. Even Mexican restaurants that aren't authentic can still serve quality food with some flavor. It's obvious that the food you're serving is old, reheated, cooked poorly and of low quality. I won't be visiting here again. read more

We had a catering order from El Fuego's for a family get-together on May 15th 2022. I ordered the taco bar. I ordered two pans of the steak, one of which was the fiesta which included a pan of rice and a pan of beans, one pan of the pork, one pan of guacamole, 1/4 pan of pico de gallo, and 8 burritos that were cut in half. We picked it up because there was no drivers caused by the Staffing shortage which we were happy to do. Let me tell you El Fuego's knocked it out of the park! The food was so fresh and so good. I had never used El Fuego before but I did check out their reviews, and I don't know how this place could ever receive anything less than five stars! Everyone absolutely loved the food, and I even had a couple of grade school age grandchildren that normally would not touch this stuff and even they let me know how much they enjoyed this stuff and how they didn't think they would LOL. I will definitely be using them again and recommending their services because they were awesome! I only wish I had thought to take pictures because the setup was beautiful read more

Talked with the front gal and all was taken care of in a matter of moments. When I picked up all the food was packed incredibly well. Just tried this place for lunch on a co-workers recommendation and will definitely return with my family in the near future. The service was friendly and the food was good. I used to be their favorite fan. However, lately they have resulted in less than acceptable tasting food. You can put up all the Mexican themed wall art and like you can hire as many Hispanics as you'd like however if the food is not to par then I cannot be a customer. Dont eat here. next time they're making your food make sure to take a look at the kitchen. They dont wear gloves and grab your food with their bare hands. Just your average mexican joint, this place says they are authentic mexican with a borderline twist. This place is far from that, if anything its your typical American-mex taco joint. Tried two different menu items: steak burrito and the veg burrito. Steak was chewy, bland, and missed that nice grilled flavor. Veg burrito lacked the best ingredient. Beans! It had more onions and green peppers that just overpowered everything and anything. I still smell and burp smells like a onion....No bueno! This place has a few major problems in my eyes... 1 - The little salsa containers need to go! Use the squirt bottles, salsa is so cheap you are probably spending more money in those containers. 2 - It was unbearably cold in the restaurant, yes it's freezing outside as well but when you have to eat with your jacket it makes an uncomfortable experience! Ill spare this place two stars bc they are new and hope to have them turn this place around in the future! read more

I saw this place on a drive up Randall last week and decided to give it a try. I stopped in just after 10 and ordered a mix of steak, chicken and al pastor tacos. The guy that took my order was a bit slow on the draw, but they had just opened. The other guy I spoke to while waiting for my order was very nice and actually gave me a coupon for their other bar/grill they own. Nice touch. I got home and was not impressed with the steak. The chicken was better but the al pastor was the best. I am spoiled by a Chicago taco joint near my office, otherwise they probably would've gotten an extra star. I was very pleasantly surprised by the customer service here because I called the restaurant at 9:40pm 20 minutes before they closed and asked if they could make a quick order of tacos for me and without a doubt they helped me and very politely too. First time here. Ordered a king burrito (15"), with chips and salsa. Not too crazy about the salsa (I prefer a more red salsa with tomato chunks), but I do like the cilantro in it. Great place for authentic Mexican food. First, we were greeted promptly at the counter by a very friendly young lady with a smile - always a plus! It was my 1st time there and she was very patient while I skimmed the menu for carry-out. Food was prepared fresh and quick. You can actually see the cooks on the grill preparing the food. Was excited to try some new food. Went there with a family of 3 and was very underwhelmed. The service was good, it was a clean place but the food was average at best. I had the Torte plate. The bread was soft but cold, some bits of the steak were cold. I tried the salsa verde and it had a distinct metal taste. I passed on the mild salsa as it was very thin and watery. My husband ordered 1 steak burrito plate and 1 burrito to take to work for lunch. My son also had a steak burrito. The beans that came with the plate were grey and the rice was plain - no bits of onion or carrots. I could have opened a pre-made store bought version and it would have been better. The minute we arrived home my husband through the lunch burrito away. Don't think we will be back. I hope they figure it out!!! read more

This place is AMAZINGLY Delicious! I just left here with my brother and daughters. It is right down the street from where we work. It is in front of Meijer on Randall Rd. I ordered 3 chorizo tacos, with rice and beans and a coke. My brother got five tacos, 2 steak, 2 barbacoa, and 1 chicken with rice and beans, we also got a chicken quessadilla. ALL that was 30 dollars. The food was delicious. It tastes like authentic mexican food. The use corn tortillas and have refried beans. You order your own food and the call you to pick it up next to the register. There are no servers.The staff making the food and taking your order is super friendly and knowledgable of the menu. They have plenty of open tables and 4 or 5 large booths. I'm so glad I found this place. We will definitely be back again and again. I'm so glad I dont have to drive to crystal lake anymore whenever Im craving mexican food. read more

Disgusting!!!! On my first visit I got a hair in my nachos. I gave them another shot after about a month since we don't have many options in Algonquin. So I ordered nachos and 3 tacos. 2 out of the 3 tacos had hair!!! Not just one but multiple. We started taking the tacos apart and couldn't believe it. I wrote corporate and never heard back! I'd rather drive to Algonquin Mexican Restaurant for fresh hairless food. Why would I lie about hairs in my food. What kind of customer service is that. Also, you do have a remarks regarding hygiene in your establishment . Instead of calling me a liar look into the issue. Your people do not all wear hair nets that's a lie!
