This has to be the worst food in town not only did it take a whole decade for my food to be ready but it genuinely tasted like rubber and microwaved food TRASH!! Definitely don't recommend to anybody that wants to feast, prices are way too high for what they offer only actual worker that knew what they were doing was the guy that was clocked out, he's a skinny kid but none the less he was killing it definitely deserves a raise read more

We ordered the BYU deal (two tacos that comes with beans and rice on the side) and two tacos For $10. Food is good and the portion is large! With every order it comes with complimentary chips and salsa I love their mango salsa bar.. the staff offered great service and they keep the restaurant very clean! This was (emphasize on was) my go to Mexican place every time I came to Provo. The food is delicious, to be sure, but I don't know what happened to their customer service. First, there's no AC. Well, there is, but it's a tiny box near the drink machine. The rest of the restaurant couldn't have been less than 90 degrees. If you can wrap you sweat- soaked head around that, they made us wait over 30 minutes before getting our two plates. They weren't busy, by any stretch, but maybe the staff was new, I don't know. When they finally did bring out our food, the waitress sincerely apologized for the wait. She then wanted to emphasize that they were closing early and stopped just short of telling us to hurry up and eat. Not a problem, we were already hot beyond comfort and couldn't get out of there fast enough. I have never been so offended in my life! I ordered mole poblano and I did not like it. Made it know to the cashier and (Fernando or Jose) he Gave me different names when I asked to speak to the owner. He decided to proceed and be full out rude. I ordered something else and didn't even explain they charge 1/2 price for it he just said of course I'm gonna charge you I don't get it for free hunny. The worst customer service I've ever had. My wife and I went here for the first time the other day. We really enjoyed it. I'm really picky on my mexican food. I haven't found anything in Utah with the same quality that I find in Arizona, but this place is decent. I have the carne asada torta which was good. I always like guacamole on my tortas so I added that as a side. It was like 5 bucks for the side which was expensive but they did make the guacamole right at our table so at least it was fresh and a decent amount. My wife had the enchiladas which she enjoyed, but I thought they weren't great. The enchilada sauce tasted almost like it was out of a can. Overall, this place is good enough for us to go back, given that most mexican places around here aren't that great. read more

I went here based on all the good reviews but it was nothing like people were saying. We waited forever on our food and they got our order all wrong even though we went through it three times. They didn't give us any utensils or napkins with our to-go order and honestly the food tastes like taco amigo. Super authentic and good! The restaurant was well kept and the service was good. I liked my enchilada alright (wasn't my favorite, but not bad) but the beans and rice were great! Some of my favorite I've had! One thing to note, the salsa bar didn't look fresh, and in fact I didn't even try it because I was afraid of getting sick. El Gallo Giro is great if you want cheap, quality food. They make authentic Mexican food that is delicious. They cook it fresh to order and have fantastic orchata. The portions are large and the food is cheap, it's a great place to go if you're craving Mexican food. Went there because it got the best reviews. Ordering is like at a fast food place. The food however is not fast food quality. We got the guacamole...made fresh at our table. My husband got the chili relleno and tamale meal. The tamale wasn't horrible, but not amazing. The chili relleno he did not like at all. There was just something off about the flavor. I got a chicken enchilada and chicken chimichanga. I am not a huge fan of red sauce, these guys make it great! I would totally eat it again. The chimichanga, I can't give a review on that because they originally gave me a bean and cheese one and realized it after they brought it out. I was told they were making me a new one and would bring it out shortly. After 20 min and still not having it, I went and asked if it was still coming. I ended up just taking it home and eating it later, which it didn't taste good at all. There was a guy there, not sure if he was the owner it manager, but super friendly and welcoming. Gave opinions to better items on the menu. They have a "salsa bar" with probably 4-5 different salsas that are ok. In the salsa bar they also have jugs of Horchata, limeade and something mango. Delicious! I'll definitely be back! Great value for your money. I had the #5, chili relleno and tamale combo with rice and beans. Included chips and salsa (good salsa, better with some red salsa if you like it spicy) good salsa bar, huge meal, and soda. Only $7.99. And did I say it was delicious?! You order at the counter when you come in and then a friendly waitresses serves you and will get you what you need. That being said they were out of salsa and never brought the quac we ordered instead they brought some bean dip. Tacos Mr. Joe... Griddle-fried doubled corn tortillas filled with a seasoned mixture of pastor and beef. Topped with fresh lettuce and delicious salsa of your choice. Great comfort food. Certainly among Provo's most comforting. The molcajete is great for two to three, but for four to six get the customized griddle which will leave you with leftovers to take home. I love this place!for more than five years I ate here every work day for lunch.now My work is farther away so I don't get to eat here as often as I would like.They make the tortillas from scratch and the quarter chicken that I get often is cooked over a wood fire.
