what is this? is it normal for the bone to be inside the pan con pollo? nah.

service was good and it was clean. However, the food was OK. The pupusa was amazing but the Pan con Pollo had a whole bone in there.? nah .

El Garrobero crafts dishes with textures and flavors that authentically represent Central American cuisine. Their Nuegados Solos are crispy yet tender, while the Pupusa Revuelta offers a satisfying blend of savory fillings wrapped in soft masa. Yummy and definitely coming back for more.

Good food and very friendly service. I love that they have both Salvi and Honduran food. The tortilla for the baleada was so soft and delicious, a meal in itself that cost less than $5! They have rice and flour pupusas, Salvi horchata, and sweet breads for sale. I'll be back!

AVOID THIS PLACE! First time coming here, and it will be my last. We wait over 25 minutes just for drinks, and when the food FINALLY arrived it was so disappointing. The atmosphere was even worse. With so many screaming babies I just couldn't.

Went here hoping for some traditional Honduran food. Food took over 45 minutes even though all we ordered were simple baleadas and pupusas. People who arrived later than we did got served quicker. VERY DISSATISFIED. Will not be returning regardless of the food flavor. Horrible services.

    Nasty tamale with french fry

Save yourself and don't order the tamales. Not their best work. They have no flavor and literally breakdown once you unwrap. Definitely not made with love. Pure laziness to just throw in a French fries versus cutting a potato. Plus tamales don't have potatoes this long in them. El Salvador would be ashamed & claim this place for tamales. Looks exactly how it tastes...nasty

This was our first time coming here...we happened to be in the area and were craving Salvadorian breakfast. We were a bit concerned due to the reviews touting poor customer service, but we didn't experience any (there was only one guy working, but it hadn't gotten busy yet). The food was flavorful and plentiful, without being greasy. Pupusas revueltas can be dry, in my experience, but these were juicy. The casamiento was a bit dry, though. Price was good to average for most items. We plan on returning to try more of their pupusas.

Thought El Garrobero next to Taco Nazo on Valley Blvd near the 605 freeway was pretty good. Taco Nazo opens later now, but I had to be someplace ASAP. So here I am trying out this place and it's pretty clean. So I get this little fishy plate and the little fishy comes out with his brains baked to smithereens. Why else is his eyeballs busting out staring at me. Sorry I don't like eyeballs just staring at me while I eat. Especially when there's no conversation between us. So I put a napkin over his little head RIP. I started pulling nice strips of peeling fish from all the nice skinny little bones. Tasty and add a little house sauce on it for a good kick. That salad was nice and fresh. Toss the tomatoes cause I don't like em. Service good and a nice strong of coffee was good to hit the road with.

This place is new(er) but they are doing a great job. The place is really clean although I had a good amount of "cortido" on my menu. Our waitress did apologize for that. The bean pupusas I got are super packed with beans and are very delicious. The wife and daughter got cheese and port and bean and cheese and we were all very happy. Today my wife also got a pork tamale and it was super tasty but soft. Central American tamales are typically wrapped in banana leaves and have potato in the "masa" but these needed to sit a bit longer. Still we ate it and were happy with the choice. The cortido is delicious; they had cucumbers and jalapenos but they are careful to remove the seeds so that they will not be too spicy. That again, is typical for Central America. Also, they are not afraid to give you a big bowl unlike some other places that I have been to. I took advantage of the Yelp! Check In so I got a free empanada. I chose the platano and it is very good. They close at 8:00 PM because they are short staffed but the waitress/owner said that they are looking for someone and hope to eventually stay open 'til 10 PM. Tuesday is Pupusa day with several options for $1.50 til 6 PM.

I'm grateful for their dedication. The food and beverages they prepare and serve reflect their commitment to their community. Even though they have a made to order kitchen, my food was served quickly each of the three times I've eaten here. Everything is well crafted, with my go-to's being sopa de res and pupusa plates with rice and beans. Auga frescas here are legit as well. I always choose to dine at a table because I like the ambience here. It's got a mercantile vibe with Telemundo on the TV screens and big beautiful posters highlighting lovely scenes from El Salvador. Seating is plentiful and comfortable at the booths. Floors and tables are spotless and clean. Fyi, they have an open kitchen and the a/c's not ice cold for those who prefer sweater weather, but for me it works. And on the plus side, my delicious food stays warm longer. The interior seemed a bit dated and wasn't anything too impressive. The booth seating also felt pretty cramped, so I'd recommend sitting at one of the regular tables if you have the option. The food itself was pretty decent, especially for the price. However, we ordered the Super Plato Tipico and noticed that a few of the items that were supposed to come with it were missing. When we asked our server about one of the missing items, she immediately replied, "Your tamale? Yeah!" which made it seem like she already knew it hadn't been brought out. I would've appreciated it if she had mentioned that the kitchen was behind or let us know the missing items were still coming instead of waiting for us to notice and ask. Overall, the food was affordable and satisfying, and I'd come back for the pupusas. The service was friendly, but communication about the missing items could definitely be improved.

There aren't too many salvadoran places so if you crave salvadoran food this is probably it. i ordered the Bistek Special with plantains and my friend got the Plato Tipico (which comes with a variety of samplers to try like pupusa, yucca, etc. I think if it's your first time trying this type of food, it's probably best to order the Plato Tipico since it provides a nice variety. For the most part, the food was pretty good. Although, you do need to be okay with slightly tougher fried yucca. While tasty, make sure you have good quality dentures. The Bistek Special was also pretty good but it didn't offer the same type of true Salvadoran experience.
