Trifecta From left to right: Pork with watermelon, halibut with watermelon, and chicken street taco
Rob M.

A little food caboose in the heart of downtown. When you pull up you can usually smell the smoker preparing the meat to be grilled to order. The staff are bubbly and jovial. I've never had a bad interaction. To date I have never ordered anything different per se. I get the trifecta tacos with chicken, pork, and halibut (sometimes salmon) with the chefs choice of toppings. My favorite is the tacos with the watermelon chunks on the top. The sweet combined with the savory meat flavors has always been a hit. El Green Go's is synonymous with taco heaven. The portions are generous and visually appealing. One of these days when I have no other plans I will try to put away one of their burritos. Make sure to try their salsa as well!

Been waiting many summers to try this place and it slaps!! Salmon in the burrito was perfect- cooked well and had great flavor. This burrito is hefty. Guacamole was fresh and on point. The best part is they are so accommodating they don't have on the menu keto tacos (cheese shell) and were still able to make them on request! Busy stand and not surprised since the food is very good- great prices also. Great vibe little outdoor seating area with lots of well fed customers.

This little taco truck was in the downtown area and we stopped in to get tacos on our way to the airport. Although it was good, I did not give it five stars because they it's also was not warm and it was a little meh for us from TX. The girls running the joint were very fast and professional and did a wonderful job! The tables outside were clean and the little area to enclose it from the parking lot was a bonus. One downside is that you do have to pay to park but I guess that's just part of what you live with when you host a venue in a downtown area.

We LOVE this food truck! We aren't from Alaska, but ever since we tried El Green-Go's Tacos two years ago, we've been dreaming of coming back. After two long years of waiting, we finally had the chance to enjoy it again, and it was well worth it! The brisket is still phenomenal! Tender, flavorful, and cooked to perfection! The seasoning is great too. I got the Mexi plate which isn't your traditional Mexican food. They've added their own creative flair to the tacos and their menu, but it works perfectly! The watermelon with brisket tacos is our favorite and it is surprisingly a good combination. It is refreshing and savory at the same time. We were also lucky enough to meet Tyler while he was checking on the smoked brisket. Such a friendly guy! He shared that they started with a small smoker and now have a bigger one to handle demand. It's great to see their growth, and you can really see the passion for what they do. If you're in the area, don't miss out. I highly recommend this spot, and we're already looking forward to our next visit!

Jarritos

I first ate here about 3 years ago on my first visit to Anchorage. We were doing the tourist thing when I saw smoke coming out of a stack followed by the smell of brisket in the air. Needless to say I had to eat here and it left an impression on me then. A couple days ago, we were back. The smoker was going and the briskets were cooking. We ordered 2 jarritos, 1 order of brisket southern tacos, 1 order of chicken street tacos, fish tacos in Green-Go style (1 halibut and 1 salmon) , and a brisket mexi plate. Tacos were as memorable as the first time as we practically inhaled all our food. Watermelon on anything should be a thing as this is a stroke of genius to me. Servers are always friendly and the staff is very helpful. Seating is somewhat limited as they have a couple tables for 2 and several large picnic tables. All outdoor seating. When in Anchorage, we will be back for this again!

The burrito was pretty good overall, flavorful and filling. Personally, I'm not a huge fan of the smoked taste, but if that's something you enjoy, you'd probably love it! Picnic tables and seating if you're looking to eat there! Good little spot downtown.

Mexi Plate (brown rice, black beans, crema, corn salsa, avocado, etc, and added pan seared halibut with green chile sauce)

This was a fantastic meal, one that would stand up to review anywhere, and I am very glad we ate here. I ordered a mexi plate with pan-seared halibut and green chile sauce, and a side of guacamole for the chips. My husband had a burrito with pulled pork (contains corn salsa, black beans, brown rice, etc), which also came with chips so he shared my (really good, housemade) guacamole and had a Mexican Coca Cola (the kind with real sugar). The people at the counter were especially kind and knowledgeable and fun to talk to. The stand was clean and well maintained. They have covered picnic tables out front (although we took it to go and ate at a nearby park). Experience was highly enjoyable and we will eat here again. Portion sizes gave us enough for 2 meals each. I think if tourists realize how well this place handles halibut and salmon they will be overrun with customers all summer, but it's well deserved.

What?!?? Amazing smoked salmon dip with pickled red onions and fried capers. They also have a great selection of fish tacos.

The bagel of choosing was the 'Pick Me', a steamed everything bagel topped with bacon, ham, sausage, egg, and pepper jack. I decided to add some pepper jelly on the side and it was delicious ‍. From the first bite of the soft bagel, all of the flavors complemented the next one. I recently found out about this gem from an ADN article. I can't wait to try the other bagel options!

We found them at APU on April 20th for a craft fair. They steam their own bagels and have a variety of flavors including plain, everything, onion, sesame, GF, and a sweet rotating option usually blueberry. I got the Barefoot breakfast bagel, overall it was pretty good. Very very messy since the cream cheese was warm and melted everywhere. The bagel was chewy and I was able to get an everything instead of the onion bagel it came with. You can pretty much choose which bagel you want with what sandwich. I picked off the onion even though there wasn't that much, and the tomato slice I got still had the sticker on it, which was bad quality control on their part . The banana pepper added a sweet yet tangy taste, not much cheddar on it, more peppers and banana peppers. It was very good, but again messy. We also got tots which honestly seemed like they were not frozen they were soft yet crunchy. A little spendy at almost $15 each give or take a few bucks. They are not huge bagels but stuffed with a lot of fillings.

(most of it up here is more Texas-inspired) I was delighted to find another BBQ place on Yelp, more so a Southern on, even MORE so one with ZERO reviews! I called them up and ordered ahead of time. I got the ribs, which were under $20, a rarity for BBQ! This place occupies the space formerly occupied by Alleyway Grille (that delicious, late-night, stoner haute-cuisine extravaganza) You order and pickup food from the drive through. I called in ahead and they asked me if I wanted to pickup in "5 or 10 minutes?". I chose 5! Service was friendly and I took my food home to eat. The ribs were very good and served on a piece of white bread (BBQ bread ain't fancy, yo!). The sides were much better than some of the more recent BBQ pop-ups post-COVID. It was a perfect lunch-sized portion of everything. I'll definitely be giving them another try (brisket on Sundays only). Great food, I just wish they would add collard greens. So rare to find those up here!
