This restaurant recently rebranded their name, they used to be a Mexican restaurant, but now they seem to be Central America. Before walking in, I am not sure if they do this everyday, the bouncer scans you with a metal detector and they search your bags, I am assuming for weapons. The music inside is ridiculously loud, uncomfortably loud. It was annoyingly difficult trying to place our order with the waitress. In matter of minutes everything we ordered was brought out. We even noticed a few customers left because the music was way too loud. The food was delicious, their parrilla for one is honestly big enough for two. I went there last night for the first time for a special event and it was definitely my last ... I don't even know where to begin ... The service was the worst I've ever experienced ... The food was terrible ... The bar service I don't even want to go there ... If you asked for water you have to pay for it and it's the cheap water bottles you get anywhere for a dollar ... To top it off they bring you the bill and unless you ask they don't tell you that there is a "service charge" included that is not a tip according to them so they tried to slap me with an additional $35 dollars which I refused to pay ... The location is quite odd. There are an incredible amount of tables, similar to a ballroom. The service was fine. The waitress was very nice but when it was time to get the check she was no where to be found. The food was very good. The only drinks we had was cacao but it wasn't great. Very grainy. Waited 20 minutes for my check and when I did the tip was included but it was never mentioned then the machine options said 20- 25% compared to other restaurants which say +3% when tip is included. Our bill today came with an 18% service charge. When I chose NO TIP, as the tip is included in the service charge, the waitress said the service charge did not include the tip. I proceeded to add a tip. One person in in our group questioned the veracity of the statement. We called the manager for verification and it turns out the waitress lied to us. The tip IS included in the service charge. Don't go to this place, as the food is mediocre at best, but the SERVICE is BAD when the server tries to scam an additional tip out of you. read more

So I went for an early dinner with my best friend and ordered the traditional Nicaraguan dishes. The ambience is good and decor is nice. They have live music which is great and even have karaoke which is fun. The food was delicious and came out right away. I was a little taken back about metal detectors as you come in, but I would think it's for precautionary measures. I give it four stars because I think they need to tone down a little on the music's volume....maybe just a notch!! Other than that, everything was great and I will be going back! read more

The best lunch deal in West Miami. This restaurant used to be a Mexican with great lunch deals and when reopened after covid they went with Nicaraguan cuisine and is still great. This place is really good. The food is incredible! The best place to celebrate a birthday party, because not only the food and service are great, but the party ambience you will not find anywhere else. From outside, the place doesn't look anything like the inside. I have eaten nachos, parrillada, etc, and I can't complain of any of the meals I've had. Actually, only good feedback for the chef of the place. I love it there. We live far from there, but for any celebrations, we are planning to continue visiting 'el guacalito'. We were excited to check-out this new local Nicaraguan restaurant near our home; however, I have to say that I was highly disappointed. The location is fairly large and spacious, though very noisy but they due have karaoke on Thursdays so perhaps that was the reason for the very loud music. As soon as we opened the door the staff were all near the bar area and no one welcomed us until we sat down and were greeted by the busser. Up until this point our initial reaction was to get up and leave but we decided to give it a chance (I should have followed my intuition). Still being optimistic, we thought perhaps the food would redeem the overall experience but it was all downhill from this point. The food was tasteless at its best. There were no original Nicaraguan flavors in there food and unfortunately due to this reason we most likely won't be returning. I do want to point out that they do seem to be set up for more of a karaoke and bar atmosphere, so perhaps that's where their strong suit is.
