This unassuming little strip mall restaurant exceeded my expectations. From the outside, it looks like and old video rental store from the 90's refurbed into a restaurant. And that is exactly what it is! Confirmed by the old rental drop box return still in the front window. We had a large group of 26 for family reunion dinner. El Habanero easily accommodated our group with a welcoming smile, great service, and fun, delicious food. I enjoyed chili rellenos with a side salad. One of my faves! A few folks in our group ordered the fajitas and molcajete platters. They brought them to the table last with an impressive sizzling fanfare. read more

Not a lot to say besides the service is good nice waiter and the food was quick to come out. The only problem I have was the food was subpar very bland. I cook often and nothing about the dish was that good? The meat was unseasoned and even the guac was mostly just so bland like it had nothing it felt like. Nothing standing out here. I went to this restaurant to celebrate my Grandmothers 100th birthday. My Grandmother insisted we go. As I walked in I was impressed as how clean the restaurant appeard. Our waiter was great. He made sure to accomadate a large group of people. Not only that, the food was great. I really loved the salsa as well. Salsa is a big thing for me at mexican restaurants. Nice waiter. That's the best thing to say about this place. The only habanero is in the name. This is the most bland, no spice Mexican food I've ever had. This restaurant is not authentic Mexican food, but honestly are there really any authentic Mexican food joints in Ohio? I mean real 100% authentic Mexican... It's honestly just your average run of the mill Mexican place. The prices are just about the same and the food is pretty par for the course. This restaurant was put up in between two small cities to give the people in this small town a different option for fast food. Anyone that complains about the Mexican food not being anything like the "stuff back home" (in their large city) hasn't grown up in a small town. What did you expect? The wait staff can be slow and a little hard to understand. I have eaten here multiple times over the years and my food has pretty much always come out quickly and good. For the price, the food here really isn't worth it. The dinners are mostly $10 + up. Was it a great "date night" away from our infant son? Yes! But I would have been happy anywhere. I ordered one of those meals that gives you one of everything- taco, enchilada, burrito, poblano, you know the drill. Everything was bland and tasted like I could make it at home. My husband got chimichangas and they were just ok. Everything was edible, just not great. The staff was nice though, no complaints there. I was here with a party of 10 which included 2 kids, and I had no issue whatsoever with the service. In fact, the server was very accommodating and really kind to the kids in the group as well, which was noticed and appreciated. I really enjoyed the food as well. I had the fajita quesadilla and everyone at my table seemed to have something different and enjoy it. The beer selection was great and the margaritas were good too. I visit this part of Ohio about 4 times a year, and I would definitely return on future visits. While this place may not be 100% authentic Mexican cuisine, I'm not 100% Mexican (actually, I'm 0% Mexican). So, to me, that doesn't matter. But, the food is good and my son (who is a picky eater) is more than willing to go to this restaurant. We live in town, but only go about once a month. The staff is friendly, the food is always hot, and the rice is AMAZING! The guacamole is spicy and fantastic and I could never get enough of the nachos. My go to meal is a sizzling beef fajita. The meat and veggies are done so well, most the time I dig in with a fork and forget that I have freshly made soft taco shells. If you are in town, I recommend trying this restaurant. read more

Service is friendly but really isnt great on keeping up with refills and getting things for your meal (lime, salsa, chips, etc.) Food cook speed is quick as it should be. The quality of the food isn't bad but isn't great. Could be better. I do visit every once in awhile. Could use idk a more mexican environment. Music and couple tv's. The restaurant is called Mexican restaurant ...other than the name that as authentic as it gets. Hair in my salsa. Baby portions of meals. And a long trip to the bathroom immediately after eating here. Yuck! The owner and one server was nice. But nice doesn't suffice for quality food. read more

One of the absolute worst Mexican dives I've ever had the displeasure to experience. The food was horrible. I ordered as steak, tough as a door mat. Salsa was from a jar, rice was dried out and tasteless. Re fried beans from a can. You could taste the metal can in the beans. The other two people who dined with me were both disgusted with the food. Seriously one of the worst that I've ever experienced. The service was almost non-existent and the list of failures this place has is too long to list here. Do yourself a favor and just don't eat there. Taco bell is better than this place and that is no exaggeration. If I could give a negative minus 5 stars, this place would get it. Best Mexican place between Fremont and Bellevue, and given the high prices it's worth it to drive to either.

I haven't ate here often but every time I have the food was great I was satisfied the only thing I wasn't satisfied with was my bill.

Great food! Had the Molcajete, which was peppers, onions, beef, chicken and chorizo baked in a volcanic stone bowl (super hot - don't touch) with melted cheese on top. It came with the usual side of pico, guac, lettuce, beans and rice. It was awesome! read more

The food was pretty darn good but the service was the absolute worst ive EVER had. I can't emphasize enough how bad it is. But because the food was so good(for what's available around here) we tried it 2 more times. I am sad to say that the service actually got worse. We have been brought out the wrong food without so much as an apology, actually were forced to eat it or have to pay for the right dish additionally, our drinks NEVER get refilled without having to ask more than once, and not once did we get everything we originally ordered. Okay went here with my mother for lunch on a random stop home. We walk in and nobody is there to greet us so we just end up sitting down at a booth and wait for someone to come serve us. The gentleman comes over puts our menus on the table after a couple minutes of waiting doesn't say a word and walks away. Then comes back a little later with silverware and again doesn't say a word and walks away. Finally he comes over and ask us what we would like to drink. My mother wanted a beer so she inquired about what was on tap, his answer.."budlight, miller light, another beer, and a dark beer". My mom says I guess I'll have the dark beer.. He brings it back and doesn't say anything again so I get up and walk over and see the mexican restaurant is serving Killians Irish red because that makes sense?! Then a girl walks over and takes our order, I order the vegetarian combo C which if I would have wanted one tortilla folder over with cheese on top and no veggies inside, the runniest most disgusting refried beans in the burrito again no veggies just cheese tortilla and then the chalupa which consisted of refried beans and a quarter of what they call a tomato which looked more like plastic food. I tasted each one but didn't come close to finishing any of it. The only good part was the tortilla chips they bring before your meal as every mexican restaurant does. Then while waiting for our check the waiter/host was standing there eating right infront of everyone like a slob. I would not recommend this to anyone! read more
