They have the best Peruvian breakfast, desayuno lurin it's called. It's essentially pan con chicharron with coffee AND a tamal included in the price. I always ask for extra purple onions for $2 and they give you a lot more. So worth it! I have yet to find this tradition breakfast anywhere else in Miami. They also have an area full of Peruvian goods/ingredients. They are family run. I love this place! The restaurant it's small, they sell some Peruvian sauces and condiments you can use at home. I ordered a seafood soup. The price was good, but the soup wasn't. It barely had any shellfish in it, it had 4 tiny shrimps, a couple of calamari and some tiny pieces of squids! It was mostly egg (they put a whole egg in it and some vegetables. This place is in the strip mall next to Wendy's, where for whatever reason it has the highest concentration of restaurants I've seen in a strip mall in Miami. Among them are Chinese, Vegetarian, a subway, Columbian, Mexican, two Argentine, and THREE Peruvians, and probably more I didn't notice. All these restaurants make it really hard to find a parking spot. You just need a bit of patience and tag whoever walks into the lot and follow him/her to the car. I really like the clean and comfortable interior, and the fact that the waitress speaks good English and happily translates the menu for us. The back of the store is a grocery section. This place closes early at 6pm, so we go there for lunches. They have incredible deals - $7.50 or $8.99 for an entree with soup and soda. The soup, chupa de camarones on our visit, is admitted not the best example I've tasted: I've seen richer broth and bigger shrimps, but it's tasty enough and considering it is included in the lunch, you can't hold it to the same standard. We are pleased with the dishes we ordered. The stuffed potato has ground beef, hard boiled egg, olive and raisin inside, and the sauce in the Pescado a lo macho is very delicious. Again, the dishes would improve with pricier ingredient, but heck I can't afford a $30 lunch everyday, and for what I am paying for, I am mighty pleased with what I'm offered. My co worker introduced me to this place and it felt so homey and like a little Peruvian bodega. The place was emptier than I expected, probably because there's another Peruvian restaurant competing with them in that same strip, but it meant fast service so I was pleased. Mom took me to this place a few months ago and I was extraordinarily surprised. We went on a Sunday when it's only open for a few hours (9am to 1pm). We both ordered the same thing, desayuno lurin. There was only one waitress when we sat down and the small hole-in-the-wall restaurant was getting filled up quickly. It tastes as if a group of Peruvian grandmas got together to share their secrets to make the tastiest Peruvian breakfast food I've ever had. Everything tasted fresh. The food did take a while, but it's better than the other Peruvian restaurants in that same plaza (there are two others). The food is well worth the wait. Desserts are also fantastic. I am a fan of Peruvian cuisine and this place is not good at all. Poor quality, the taste average, awful environment , music and 2 tv's on at the same time. Expensive for what you get for. And they include the tip and don't advise the customer because they have this modern system to charge that you don't get to analyze what they are charging. This place was a nightmare: 1) First of all the food 2 plates of lomo salteado took 1h and 7min to come out. When they finally came one of the plates literally had 6 little pieces of meat on the plate and I ask the waitress what had happened and she replied " well we ran out of the steak we use to prepare this plates and we had to prepared the. We filet mignon instead which is a expensier meat so we could not add more, also the cook did not divide the steak equally on both plates". We were shocked by this response but decided to breathe in, eat and don't let that ruin our afternoon.... However, the worst came at the end. 2) We had a groupon worth 25$ and our total was 21.50 by the prices of the menu. Then the waitress comes with a receipt that does not have a detailed list of items bought, just has a list that says "varios" total 29.00 And then charged us for 2 sodas and does not add taxes to our receipt but adds the taxes as another item. We approached her to tell her the receipt did not made sense and after not having an excuse to charge us what she did she simply said that groupon itemized the receipts different and that the extra charge was groupon's fault! Which after using plenty of groupon's in other businesses I know that is completely false. WORD OF ADVISE: DON'T GO TO THIS PLACE. I WILL NEVER COME BACK. read more
