A day off with the Kids and Grandbaby to Waikele! Early lunch crave for Mexican and excited to come back to El J's. Ordered the street beef taco with fresh salsa and a lime. Battered fish with guacamole taco, Quesadilla plate with guacamole, sauce & sour cream. Along with a nice cold horchata and Mangoniada so refreshing with a tang! If you all hungry after shopping at Waikele Premiums check these guys out and other food trucks in the back parking area by Coach. They've got good grinds! Mmm!

I've never tried the food trucks in Waikele behind Coach, so I decided to give it a try. I've had a less than good experience with Mexican food on this island, so I was not sure what to expect. The food is actually really good. I got a shrimp taco spicy and a birria taco plate. The shrimp taco was loaded with shrimp, definitely worth the price. The birria was good but the rice and beans were just ok. The person who took our order was unpleasant, she did not seem to care either way if we ordered or not. I would come again.

We finally found a burrito that is worth the price. It is twice as big as other restaurants. The chicken tacos are good too. They offer mild or spicy salsa so you can enjoy your food at your level of spiciness. They have a couple of tables outside the food truck so you can eat there if you are still shopping at Waikele.

Unexpectedly went to Waikele and found this trucks unknowingly lol. I wanted a Mangonada but they were sold out ! So I need to try it at least once ! But it must be good if it was sold out already. I ended up getting Horchata and Elote in a cup! The Hotchata was awesome and the elote was delicious. Next time i return I am getting a burrito ! The person handling the register was extremely kind as well! Both items quickly came out too! Tons of parking and they also have seats at the end !

Located in back of the coach store in the upper waikele outlet stores parking lot, decided to buy food from this truck since I was buying from another truck read the reviews and the farmer's market was dwindling in food tents, but I wasn't too impressed. California beef burrito - 3.5 stars - for $17, it had ground beef, fries and other items. It was pretty big and loaded, and although a little bland, the fries added in gave it a special twist. Enchilada plate - 3.5 stars - for $16 I got 2 enchiladas that were made to order, and not liking a lot of salt, was flavored just right, but the beans were salty. The rice was ok. Service - 4 stars only because the wait is long because there were 4 people before us, and it took more than 15 minutes just to order, then another 15 minutes for the food to be ready for pick-up. The food truck cashier/server was very friendly, talkative and nice. Lots of parking since it is located at the waikele premium outlets upper parking area.

The pork tacos were very tasty and the lady helping me was so kind and helpful. She let me try the pork to make sure I liked it. The salad was yummy too.

For and authentic and loving environment and good food this is a go to my wife can't go trough kapolei without stopping here for some foood I recommend the torta sandwhich Jesus this food got some love with taste and portions bradda and aunty work hard so let's show some love for these guys aloha -

I just happened to stumble across this place. I was shopping at the outlets and was looking for food and saw some people with some takeout and found all the food trucks. I decided on Mexican. I ended up ordering a chicken enchilada, it was pretty good, it came with salad, rice and beans. The lady who served me was really nice. Can't wait to come back on my next holiday.............

Food truck is located in the corner of Waikele Shopping Center. They offer mexican cuisine and had to check it out to take a break from our shopping. I highly recommend getting their carne asada torta because not only it is flavorful, but it is large considering the value. The price can be off-putting, but I think it is worth it to try their other items.

If you're a fan of Bahn mi you'll be a fan of their torta! I just wished it had a bit more meat and maybe beans on the side. Very delicious and large of a bread. Would order again but probably would try it with a different meat. Maybe also have my own beans on the side too!

In the form of a Jeopardy Response: A. Excellent Mexican food offerings served from a food truck behind an Outlet Mall. Q. What is something that only happens on O'ahu? We sampled the chicken enchiladas and tossed in a couple Al Pastor tacos for good measure. Ample portions of quality Ingredients makes El Jaliscience a great value and worth the drive from town. I liked that the enchilada sauce is not too "saucy" but still packs a punch of flavor. You get your choice of meats...we went with chicken and it was well executed, nicely seasoned, fresh and hot. The enchiladas are topped with guacamole and shredded chihuahua cheese. We opted to leave off the sour cream. Excellent Spanish rice and very simple frijoles, which are clearly not coming from a can accompanied. My one minor feedback would be that the frijoles needed a little salt. For me...the Al Pastor taco was the star of the show. I went with Spicy...and it was spicy! Not burn-your-taste-buds-out spicy, but not wimpy either. Service couldn't have been friendlier and the whole ambiance of the food truck park is just charming. Plenty of seating options or you can follow that time honored O'ahu tradition and eat in your car. Olè!

I love this food truck. To start off 2019, I figured it'd be fitting to try some Mexican food, and it was all worth it. I ordered the Al Pastor tacos and enjoyed it. Considering that I haven't tried something like this before, I actually enjoyed it. We don't have a lot of Mexican restaurants here in Oahu, but to my excitement, this was probably about as close to eating Mexican as you can get. I would recommend this if you're craving for some Mexican food because this is about as good of a place you could enjoy if you're wanting something that isn't Taco Bell. read more

Very oily. I got 2 chicken tacos and one mangonada ($13) The tacos were okay. The shell was very oily and uncooked. It kept falling apart. The chicken was hard. Fortunately the flavor was good. I ended up eating the chicken only. The mangonada was pretty good. The wait was around 15-30 minutes. Overall, I might come back. read more

I was craving tacos so when I Yelped this place it caught my eye so I gave it a try. I ordered the taco plate with beans & rice. Unfortunately the beans still needed to be cooked longer as they were still hard plus they need to add some flavor to them- very BLAND just like their ability to give me a proper meal. The tacos itself was ok not enough flavor in the meat- the tiny bit of salsa they put on top of the meat doesn't make up for the lack of flavor. Plus side is the rice was tasty and the service was good. read more

In search of a break of eating seafood and plate lunches, I stumbled upon this food truck at the Outlet Malls in Oahu. I ordered the Al Pastor tacos which had good flavor with onions, cilantro and a mild sauce that was on the upper end of mild but excellent balance with the meat and other ingredients. I'm disappointed that I couldn't try more but that's what happens when you hit the islands trying to get your food fix...you constantly eat all the great foods available so you're never really hungry. I will try this food truck again. read more

My friends and I wanted to try a new spot for taco Tuesday and they offered $2 tacos. Though the three selections of carne asada, chicken, and al pastor we're not as extensive as other places, they were very lacked and filling! They tasted amazing! I'm subtracting a star because the sit down area attaches to the truck needed a lot of cleaning. read more

I always like to try the Mexican food when I go to new places. If you're ever in Honolulu this taco truck will not disappoint. Tacos were great and the elote was a nice touch. Definitely recommend if you're in the area to give it a shot. read more

Great Mexican food truck parked in the lot to the Eva side of the outlet mall. I always have the steak burrito. It comes with beans, salsa, and rice inside. Choice of spicy or not. They are kind and let me substitute lettuce for the rice, so I can get some veg in my diet. There are a couple of tables between their truck and the pizza truck. It is convenient, tasty, laid back food. Come here every time I shop here. read more

Love going for the $2 taco tuesdays. Sadly the shrimp tacos are not on sale, and in my opinion those are the best ones. Sometimes it can take a while to get the food if you order in person so I recommend calling in advance. read more

Build that wall! ...If you're talking about helping me build a wall around this place so that I can trap myself in and keep the rest of you out than I'll personally fund that endeavor. My wife and I have been searching for a good Mexican place on the island and this place finally satisfied that craving. Great Al Pastor tacos (my favorite) and a great Cali burrito away from Cali. My wife grew up in San Diego and she even thinks it's pretty darn good (albeit not exactly like home but close enough too it; what do you want? We're on an island in the middle of the ocean...). The cook (and I assume owner) entertained our questions and you can tell that she really cares about the food and the ingredients (a great sign!) $2 dollar tacos for "Taco Tuesday's" makes this place such an excellent deal for Hawaii! Do yourself a favor and grab a Horchata too! They're great and usually sell out before the end of the day. I'd happily not tell you all about this place so I can keep it to myself but I don't make enough money to ensure this place stays open myself.. so get out there! read more

I have gone to the Waikele location. It's pretty good but order items I have had like Tuesdays isn't bad for taco Tuesday. They are petty slim on meat tho. The elote in a cup is pretty watery some days and wish they gave more flavor in it. The torta is pretty good but by all means don't expect them to come in the traditional torta bread because they come in a baguette that has been cut to portions. read more

This has got to be the best spot for tacos on the island. The price of their tacos are cheaper in comparison to other places. I personally like to come here on Tuesdays because their tacos are $2 each. I always get the al pastor and carne asada tacos. The meat is very well-flavored and juicy. I also like to ask for it spicy which gives the tacos a great kick. Why not 5 stars? There are times where the tacos are just too oily. When you open the plate that the tacos are in, there is just a lot of oil on the bottom which makes the tortillas really soggy, causing them to break. Overall, this is a great taco truck and I will continue to come here to get my fix of tacos. read more

I've tried to eat here three times. The first two times they've answered the phone in a non friendly manner saying they ran out of things.. ok no problem. The third I finally made it out and the lady kept by passing me. No greeting at all. Only to have me stand there for 10 mins and tell me they are closed for lunch. I've been here several times. The food is just okay. The high ratings is due to not having any good Mexican offerings in the area and much of the patrons are one time tourists. I get it. I was praying this food truck would be the answer. On my last and final visit I had the carne asada tacos. Pure disappointment. The beef was so low quality and it was mainly gristle. The portion of meat is about 1/8 cup per taco- very tiny. But why would you bother to cut, cook and serve gristle? Never again. Improve your quality or you will lose customers. read more

Went today pretty long wait about 2-3pm... I got the carne asada fries and horchata... Will try something else the next time around... I gave it 3 stars just because of the long wait took almost 15-20 minutes and the packaging was super oily/ messy food was covered on the outside of the bag as well as inside. It just wasn't the best presentation after receiving reviews from friends to check it out... fries were pretty oily couldn't tell if it was from the fries or the oil from the pork/ sauce... I could've done it better honestly... horchata was okay similar to others I've drank... probably will return but then again I'll probably check out my usual spot in Wahiawa read more

I honestly think I eat here at least once every week. The steak tacos, BOMB. California burrito, BOMB. Carne Asada Fries, BOMB. I always order 4 spicy steak tacos!!! Used to get chicken but steak is just super delicious. California burrito is such a filler and I get it spicy. I live in Waikele and our family always go here if we're craving Mexican food. However, when we ordered our California burrito today, it was so awful! Not only did it have soggy fries and the steak wasn't steak at all. I was so disappointed today and I always recommend their place to family and friends who visit. I am not going there anymore, I almost went back to get my money. So sad! Don't ever go there! read more

Decided to try this place because of convenience and the good reviews. I got the carne asada taco plate and received my food within 5 mins and I would have to say I consider the food to be mediocre. Although the steak was soft and tasty, my food was cold and didn't receive as others pictured with generous amounts of cilantro and onions which really make it for me. This is my preference but I also like to scoop my tacos in the salsa instead of it being lightly drizzled on (I like mine with a lot of salsa). Overall, I would recommend if you're in the area but I do wish my food would've been at least warm upon arrival and consistent with what others received. read more

I love that their just up the road from where i live. Really affordable! The first time I tried coming here they told me they were out of rice and closed for the day which was weird because I didn't even want rice. The second time I visited here I tried the chicken, al pastor, and the beef tacos. My favorite was the chicken taco because of the seasoning, but they were all good. I was glad to have something other than Hawaiin cuisine. The tacos tasted authentic for the most part! The location was relevant in the parking lot right behind the outlet mall! The prices were affordable and worth it! read more

This is authentic. Try the tacos! One of each! So yummy! When you come into the shopping center, you will need to park, but you will see the food trucks off to the left once you turn in. It's by the bus plaza 1 stop. read more

Anytime I'm in Waikele I have to stop by this place. It's located in the back left parking lot of the mall next to all the other food trucks. I love me some carne asada fries and this place has some of the best I've ever had here in Hawaii. I also got a horchata and that tasted awesome too. read more

Amazing food and affordable for Hawaii too. Even when they are super busy, so friendly and I never feel rushed when ordering (I have a picky kid who changes what he likes and doesn't every other week so lots of questions when ordering) The burritos are ginormous and the elote is something I could eat everyday. We placed an online order for pickup, and the first item we opened was the carne asada plate. Right away, everything looked very dry. The meat was tough and chewy, and the rice was clumpy and dry, almost as if it had been sitting out for a while. It wasn't a great first impression. The biggest disappointment, though, was the tres leches cake. We love tres leches and order it whenever we get the chance, whether it's from a restaurant, farmers market, or a local home baker. We ordered two slices. After one bite of the first slice, it had a distinctly sour taste that reminded us of spoiled milk, so we stopped eating it immediately. Before trying the second slice, we smelled it first, and it had the same spoiled milk smell. To make sure we weren't imagining it, we brought both slices to family members, and everyone agreed that they smelled like spoiled milk. At that point, we no longer felt comfortable eating the rest of our order. Although the horchata tasted fine, we ended up throwing everything away because we had lost confidence after the dessert experience. I can only speak on our experience, but unfortunately it was a very disappointing one. I understand that not every meal will be perfect, but serving a dessert that smelled and tasted spoiled was concerning. Hopefully this was an isolated incident, but based on our visit, we won't be returning.

With gas prices being what they are, coming here is only going to happen when I'm in the area. Our bill was around $70, and for that price, there are so many better dining options on Oʻahu with fresher, higher-quality food. The service was fine, but the food and value just aren't what they used to be. It's disappointing because this used to be one of our go-to casual restaurants.

The shop was so personable, the cook came out and saw who I was so they could hand off my food when it was ready!! This is over the top service and I am so grateful for the extra mile. There were plenty of spots to sit and eat, I saw some people with their laptop out and books. I would love to sit here and sip the best coffee, but alas, I have a cute little daughter who was waiting for her açaí bowl back at our hotel. The el jalisciense mexican food experience was kinda disappointing. The customer service wasn't that great because the lady is always on her phone. The taco combo is not worth it - the rice is all old/mushy and overcooked, and the taco (look at the pic!) doesn't look good at all. They only put 1 tortilla per taco (should be 2) and you cannot pick it up lol. And don't even get me started on those canned beans - they're just plain boiled beans from a can.
