Overlooked spot with some authentic Mexican dishes. Margaritas are good and the chunky guacamole is awesome. Found this spot after moving into town and glad I did. Less than a year old and hopefully it sticks around. People are missing out on this place. Absolutely disgusting experience. I was shocked to see a roach crawling across the floor while we were eating -- and then another one near the wall by our table. That's an instant deal-breaker. Cleanliness should be the bare minimum at any restaurant, and clearly, this place doesn't meet that standard. We let the staff know, and they barely seemed surprised or concerned. No apology, no offer to move us or make it right. Just a shrug like it happens all the time -- which is even more disturbing. I don't care how good the food is (and honestly, it wasn't), there's no excuse for a place serving food to have a pest problem. Won't ever be back, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Worst food I've had in a long time. We decided to eat here on a Thursday night because we wanted some Mexican food. All I can say is the food was so bad, like worse than Taco Bell bad. We ordered fajitas for two, and two kids quesadillas. The food lacked taste/flavor and the beans were almost the color of hummus. The guacamole had nothing in it, no cilantro, no onions, no salt no pepper. It was just horrible. And the really sad part is it cost $82.00. I went to El Jimador because a friend had mentioned it was good. However, I wasn't impressed. I ordered the enchilada trio so I could try multiple things. All three of the enchiladas lacked flavor. I wouldn't order any of them again. The salsa that was brought to the table was also very tomato heavy without much other flavor or heat. We also ordered queso which was just okay. It's very hard trying to find a good restaurant in the Humble/Huffman area, there are not many restaurants that I care for the food. My best friend and I decided to give El Jimador a try and was not disappointed. Now I visit regularly with my bestie and/or husband. My go to dish is the Camarones A La Plancha. I have tried the Spinach Enchiladas, Beef Enchiladas & the Filete And Veggies all delicious. Today I decide to try the Mojarra Frita and it was good also, maybe a lil more seasoning could be used but nothing to complain about. The margaritas are so good!! The lime, raspberry & strawberry are all great choices. The staff is friendly and stay on top of things so that's a plus as well. Major points for having a patio area! read more

I have been here multiple times. Always good food, reasonable prices. Very accommodating. Imo this is the best Mexican Restaurant near intersection of 1960 & W. Lake Parkway/ Lake Houston/Kingwood area; IF u dont want to wait 1 hour for Fajitas at Lupe Tortillas. Also, price wise El Jimador is not nearly as expensive or crowded as Lupes Tortillas. So, if looking for great alternative, at great price, check it out. Great for kids too, as in they are very patient and accommodating. Gave it 4 stars for doing allot with what they provide. I'm definitely considered "a regular" here at this restaurant and eat here usually at least once a week. This is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in the area. The waitstaff is awesome and I love their food. Drinks are great...service is fast... They have the best crispy tacos I've ever had at a restaurant. Solid Mexican food for a great price. Lunch specials are great and include Chile con queso. Staff is really efficient and nice. Food always comes out piping hot. So I decided to give El jimador another try. The first Time I visited I never got to eat because service was pretty much... how should I say ... lacking? I wrote a short review simply saying I never got helped so that turned me off and I said I won't return. But guess what? El Jimador is like a 5 minute drive from my house and I really needed some queso and margaritas one evening so I said "what the heck"... lets just go!" I'm so glad I did. First off we were greeted and seated. Then our waiter immediately started speaking Spanish and my husband was like hey whoa slow down bruh. So the waiter realized that our Spanish was rusty and he offered assistance in Spanglish. (Of course) We started off the evening with queso flameado- a nice hot cooked cheesy melty version of queso with a touch of meat or veggies. We opted for veggies. I then tried the burrito supreme. The ground beef was so good. And the margaritas! Niiiiice. They have a large variety of margarita concoctions to please every taste bud. And on Saturdays it's all day happy hour on their house margarita so call me when your in the area yo I will be there in 5 min with traffic. My husband opted for the fajitas and my son had the quesadillas. Within minutes our plates were empty and tummies were full. I now realize I was too hard on El Jimador the first time around. I gotta return and next time I promise to take my time and actually photograph what I ate before devouring it. But that's just to say that the food And drinks were great. Well the place looks upscale from the outside but when you enter it's really just an average Mexican restaurant average Decor average food average quality. Service was fast and friendly. I had combo fajitas. The beef was very gamey and could not eat half of it. The chicken was ok but again average. Nothing special. The portion was large and very cheap. $13 for fajitas tax included. So with all the Mexican restaurants in the area I see no reason to return. However the Thai restaurant next door called Nara Thai Dining was exceptional. I had heard a lot of good things about this place and I have had it bookmarked for awhile. I finally got my husband to bring me out and I am so glad he did. The place was SUPER clean. So clean you could smell the cleaning products. We were seated in a booth with my son and chips and salsa was immediately brought to the table. I ordered a peach margarita and it was soooo yummy. My husband ordered beef fajita enchiladas and he was a fan. I ordered the El Yanito and I thought it was amazing. Had a little bit of everything on it and I shared with my son. Eat your fajitas early! With $2.50 margaritas from 2:00-6:00 pm, this is a great Mexican restaurant to hit for an early dinner. The menu is pretty expansive, but the fajitas section is our favorite. Tonight we had the poblano for 3 persons and the Delux (their spelling) for two. The Delux had great flavor, but the poblano fajitas blew the Delux away. Imagine fajitas with poblano peppers, white cheese, onions, tomatoes, and... BACON!!! There were also bits of red peppers, but everything is superior with bacon. I always love the onion that burns on the side of the fajita pan. You must try bacon burned to the side of the pan mixed with onion and cheese. If they made that as a fajita dish then I might eat here every day. Tonight I ate that for dessert. read more

My wife loved the beef fajitas, raved that the meat was juicy and tender. I found my steak burrito to be on point as well. It had the same tender beef. The rice was delicious, but the refried beans were not impressive. The service was super attentive, i wish all restaurants had staff like this. The place about 1/3 full, so instead if looking at the Facebook or snap-chatting everyone pitched in and serviced all the diners. We came here after church. Driving by I pulled up Yelp to see what the reviews were and they were mixed. We decided to try it and we're not disappointed. The place was clean and they were discretely cleaning around while we ate. They cleaned places that I find most restaurants don't clean. They were polishing ledges, the front door and chairs. We ordered our food and it quickly came out. We needed to make special requests on some of the food and they obliged us. No one complained. My husband and I had the fajitas for two and everything was fresh. Drinks were refilled and we did not have to sit around waiting for anything. Grant it the place was not very busy but I'm sure they would be very attentive. The taste of the food was nothing to complain about but it was nothing that you want to have everyday. Found this place while searching on yelp for a local Mexican restaurant that I haven't tried before. Went during happy hour and had a melon margarita and then a jumbo lime one. Both were good and strong. The manager gave us some queso and said it was on the house, I thought that was cool. I had the lunch special beef fajitas $7.95 and it was a large portion I had to get a to go box because I was so full off the chips and salsa and margaritas. Our favorite restaurant was closed so I ordered online. When I went to pickup they didn't have an online order. In 10 minutes our order was ready. I ordered vile relent, enchilada, taco, rice and beans. My wife ordered enchiladas with rice and beans. Both were supposed to have a guacamole salad. We received one guacamole salad. We both felt the enchilada and beans were OK at best, and the rice was not worth eating. My chili relleno was watery, the tamale was a lot of masa with little taste and the taco was a shell with ground beef in it- no lettuce or tomatoes or cheese. I didn't eat it. All in all the meal was less than OK. But the kicker came at 2:30 in the morning. Both my wife and I had acid reflux like we have never had before. I like the customer service response, but the proof is in the pudding and this puddle Mgr was not worth eating. read more
